lol, that was 100(?) cloverfield lane, not cloverfield. cloverfield had the giant monster. not the obese john goodman.

Yes, this one. I thought "Cloverfield" was just keeping it short while typing. 10 Cloverfield Lane also has a giant monster in the end. I haven't seen this one.

currently watching "hunt for the wilderpeople". one of those cutesy independent films, but i can't help being overcome with laughter. so far, so good.

edit: finished the movie last night, and forgot to report on it. the movie shifted shortly after i posted the above, and from then on it felt like a different movie. it became ridiculous towards the end; and i ended up not liking it as much as i previously did. as far as independent films go, i'd give it a 5 out of 10. they had a good starting point, but then they added old and used-up formulas to the rest of it. basically, they drew you in with strained charm and good laughs, to sell you a bunch of old and overused ideas.
Pretty much my impression as well. Starts well, has a good idea which develops decently for 2/3 of the movie and then gets thrown in the garbage bin, like at one point the director got replaced by his idiot brother.

Well you are not missing much in my opinion. Other than the shake cam I can remember little about the movie, to be honest. Characters were flat and it had about as much story as any other disaster flick.

I quite enjoyed Cloverfield, I thought it was an original take on the disaster/monster movie genre. I wasn't aware they did a sequel, I shall be checking that out when I get chance. Just watched Blood father its nice to see Mel Gibson back acting, not much of an original story and in truth pretty predictable but I found the acting was pretty good and I enjoyed it overall.

Speaking of monster flicks, go watch troll hunter. It's a damn good flick about a disgruntled government official hunting trolls as recorded by a bunch of students trying to get a grade in some class. pretty good stuff.

Watched the new Ghostbusters yesterday. I was quite disappointed to be honest, I don't think its in the same league as the original's. The cast was quite good and there were some funny moments, the special effects were good too. It could have been done sooo much better

Once Upon A Time In The West

Classic. One of the best westerns. Opening scene on the train station won an Oscar for it (so I remember). Soundtrack is simply awesome, not only the Harmonica what everyone recognizes. Dollar trilogy is more "fun" but this has dept that not many movies have.

I watched Independence day Resurgence last night, despite all the negative reviews I really enjoyed it
Ok it wasn't as good as the first film, totally over the top, the story had some holes and not all the acting was good but it was very entertaining and a must see if you enjoyed the original movie.

Yep, I can confirm that the regardless of the many things this movie picture is a fun, especially for the sentimentally person as I am. Same as Polansky' Pirates. I have heard nothin about the dolar trilogy.

And interesting how the everyday life of the common folks is changed in the Uncle Sam territory, from the 19th century as the movie shows and to the present. Amazing.

Clint Eastwood spageti western trilogy of course. Specially the last movie is well known, it has nice history setup on the background, iconic characters, music. All from same director you posted earlier, his style is copied in thousand ways in cinema. Common knowlage. Expand your horizon son

yeah, those are my favorite westerns. i think eastwood was by a large margin my favorite onscreen cowboy. i dug the dollar trilogy, and tombstone(even though kurt russel's over-the-top acting at times was a huge setback in the movie).

Among the two Wyatt Earp movies from 1990's, the one with Kevin Costner is so much better and deeper, I've recently saw two of them in a row once again, Tombstone really didn't stand the test of time.

Sergio Leone movies are great, of course. I've once read he couldn't speak any English while directing them and tried to imagine how did they communicate in the set about so many details which made the movies timeless.

I think I saw some moments from "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly" but I did not know that from a so-called dollars trilogy. About two previous movies - I saw none of them.

I have always wonder how the life in Uncle Sam was in the past, i.e. in the 19th century. The many peoples of the US was in the similar conditions, I do not know, as the peoples of Ghana or a frigging Somalia nowadays, there is a poor law, hard work and so on... Before the government unleashed an order in the "wild west" territory.

But they have so lot of freedoms, the many peoples on the Earth even nowadays have np such freedoms, imho this is making the US peoples a truly unique. But too sad, that the most of US peoples nowadays have forgot how long and bloody way was that made such good life conditions in the US nowadays. That because I like the westerns.

Still, I do not like the gore on the "Tv-box", so I prefer the old movies without a naturalistic gore effects included.

"The Tombstone" - never saw it, interesting it is.

"The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" overshadows the other two in popular culture so you rarely hear about them, but they are all excellent. I feel that Leone slowly and very carefully developed his style through the trilogy + Once Upon a Time in the West, which resulted in the incredible quality but also repetition in certain areas, so I wouldn't recommend watching them in quick succession.
