Saw Rogue One and I have to say it was pretty good, different from the usual but good. If anything, it was refreshing to see more of the Rebels vs Empire, that was worthwhile.

The old characters were fun to see again and the new characters were good enough to make me care about them so the ending came as a bit of a shock for a Star Wars film.

In the end, I liked it.

Arrival was an intriguing movie, I love the concept of communication and perceptions. Interesting and exciting.

Saw Rogue One a while back...

Action, action action, no substance, no plot, ham-handed Disney rhetoric, carefully measured nostalgia, desecrating a film icon - RIP Cushing, Fisher... All in all a hollow cashgrab.

And I preferred the story with the Bothans, thanks very much Was expecting an old-school spy movie, going in

Toninght I have my own cienma . I have watched in the row two version of the film, that scribed in my childhood memory (thanks to this forum, I have found the name of the film). Forst one in watched list, was a version that I have not saw yet, Fail Safe 1964 A.D. .

Name: Fail Safe (1964AD)

Poster:

Pros: This is mega-super film about politics and military stuff with no analogies, as far as I know. Depicting reaction of the different humans on the stress situations. Mega interesting story. Very fun characters. Good dark humor.

Cons: Some little stupid hollywood nonsense stuff. Some other shift moments.

Conclusion: This is the one of the best films that I have watched in my life. <imo> I am too sentimental, so I almost crying trough this films. . . This story was a very interesting for me when I was a kid. I will recommend this film to anyone, regardless of its simplifications and some idiotic moments and stuff.

Name: Fail Safe (2000AD)

Poster:

Pros: Almost the same as the precious one. Amazing characters on the primary command posts, a "translator" character is amazing too, better than in the first movie, the scene with a closing of the black-bag was a brilliant.

Cons: Some moments dropped off, comparing to the first one. Some other moments. Little bit more hollywood nonsense.

Conclusion: Mega super film from my childhood, I can say no mere, if you have not watched it yet - I do not know... You have saw nothing in the cinematographic, this pathetic-idiotic "Rouge Ones - Transformers" cannot even be compared to this mega film . Well I have not watched "Rouge One" but I feel its sux ...

Comparing two version of this movie: well cutting down some many dialogs, and scenes, was not a very good idea, but who knows, i.e. in the 2000AD version has disappeared any remarks about a "war-crimes like stuff" as bombardments of the civilian cities in the Japan through Second War, etc. The scene with a commander Nevskiy was a little bit changed, well in this case there is no difference Yeah, a bad humor..  In the second film, there is much more better characters in the primary command, but much more worst in the service officers and secondary. In the first movies, is a reversed situation <imo>. Well about a scene with a son, of captain, in the second movies, I have pending feelings. Tu cut down the scene with a dream of general, was a very bad idea... But who knows. Dialog between "two military friends from the opposing sides", from one point is a nonsense and a typo Cold-War madness, but from the other... it is looks not so bad. Very sad, that they cut down the dialog about "We have different paths, but this paths can lead us to the same decision" which is <imo> - cool.
And many other things, I jsut tired to type. After this films I will watch again and again "Dr. Stranglelove ..." which is have much more dark humor Just too downscale my emotions for a little bit. Damn I need to sleep for more..

Loved the Rogue One scene with Vader on the ship at the end... Oh, my.. Wife strugged my hand so tight and I could not beliave this was happening, baddest of the bad in action, that alone was moneys worth for me. Good stuff

snow... yes. i just came back from the movie, and that was by far my favorite so-many-seconds of the movie. i liked the whole thing, don't get me wrong; but vader's parts were my favorite.

am i the only one who liked both 7, and the new one, about the same(which is to say, i immensely enjoyed them both), but for different reasons(as people have already pointed out here)?

before i punch out with my rave review(), 3 flaws i saw in the movie: both the cgi actor and actress(which they screwed the cgi on, in my opinion. if they can create space and everything else from thin air, they can create people correctly, ffs), and the huge spot of time where the bad guy who shot the blind jedi could have taken out the other guy who came to rescue/say goodbye to him(and predictably go terminator on some guys on his way out). or maybe the explosion that killed the blind jedi also killed the guy who fired the shot? i dunno.

That's one of the cons of American movies. In most cases their world-wide releases are, like in the title, 'world-wide'. For instance T2, which is a British movie, premieres on February the 3rd in my country (Poland).

I just watched Jackie yesterday, (story of Kennedy's wife during and right after the assassination), John Hurt was in it and I thought to myself, wow, look how old he got. And today, I learned he died of cancer. He was a brilliant actor, loved him as the fascist dictator in V for Vendetta, the first victim of "the Alien" and the narrator in Dogville. He was also perfect in the very underrated The Hit, a movie from the 1980's, where he played an assassin traveling with his next contract who seemed to accept his fate and welcomed death calmly. Rest in peace.

The movie release selections in February suck. I can choose between either "Rings 17" or "Resident Evil Part 83: The Final Chapter, Oops, had my Fingers Crossed". The later is comparatively much better than the 6% fresh rating of Rings.

Lego Batman Movie will have to deliver in order to compensate for this avalanche of suck.
