I just watched The Purge: Anarchy and I liked this film a lot. It  kept me interested the  whole time I didn't watch the first one though, but I heard that there are not connections, except the setting.

So, I recently watched von Trier's Antichrist and I mostly liked it - except the gory scenes. Are von Trier's other movies as violent as this one? I'd watch them but I'm not really interested in seeing things like... ehh... Nah, I won't describe those scenes.

watched age of ultron and john wick. both were pretty good. keanu reeves was somewhat surprising, his best acting so far; he broke out of himself for this role, so he dropped a lot of the monotone blandness. there were only a handful of scenes i didn't like in the whole movie. anything having to do with marketing, and scenes that were obviously trying to be cool, and failing miserably. other than that, a decent action film.

age of ultron was entertaining, but i'm torn between if it was more entertaining than the first one or not. it has some pretty humorous scenes in the movie, my favorite being the parts with Thor's hammer. entertaining writing, and a definite nod to the fanboys and their debates. since i never followed the avengers in comics growing up, i really can't have an opinion on the good A.I. guy's suit(i thought it was pretty lame, though). the back-and-forth between the heroes was funny. i think the writers have fun at their jobs, and don't get nearly enough credit.

(spoiler alert): i only have one question, pertaining to the very end of the movie. if thanatos is some ultimate badass, then why wouldn't he do the job himself after the first failure(the first movie)? why try again with another henchman a second time(the second movie)?

just watched N.W.A.  had no idea it was going to be 2hrs and 20min long. good movie, though. they kept the marketing to a bare minimum, so i was quite pleased. even if the real reason to make/release this film is because N.W.A.'s possibly going back on tour...

i might just have to go to that show, regardless. depending on what ticket prices are, anyway.

...nevermind. after some searching, it appears that the tour(if it actually happens) would take place in... europe? wtf?!

how many people like gangster rap in europe, again? all of my wtf.

of course, the source for that is universal studios, so i don't know what to think.  dr. dre isn't even supposedly going to be in the lineup... at least, going off of current public knowledge.

Yesterday I saw "The Big Lebowski." A wonderful movie about a man who simply wants to live his life in his own way. Besides that, it's also a great comedy - I simply couldn't stop laughing. Highly reccomended.

watched Interstellar.

Pretty nice. Try not to think too hard about all that science stuff you can't understand anyways, and it's a good sci-fi drama.

Currently watching 9th Company, a Russian war movie about the Afghan war, really just wanted to see a Russian contemporary war movie and expected nothing more than your typical Hollywood guns blazing type of crap. Was pleasantly surprised, just felt authentic, nothing was over the top or felt out of place.

Could'd used a faster start, and a not so crappy ending.

The ride was cool though

@SG: Yeah, the start was a it dragged on. The ending was decent imo.

@Tsar: if you want a better picture of that conflict, spend a drinking night with an Afghan vet. While most of them(esspecially those who were in the Spetsnaz) won't talk, but you know, good vodka loosens tongues.

They made a Tremors 5? When did this happen?

4 weren't enough, obviously.

Kevin Bacon in the first one was pretty good.

Why can't my last name be "Bacon"?

i knew they made a tremors 2(the one where the graboids were short and had legs, lol), but i didn't know they made any more after that.

just watched most of "san andreas". i like movies about mass destruction, but i didn't think i'd watch this one. i got as far as the end of the tsunami, before i stopped watching. being able to see most of the stuff coming didn't help, and the overuse of the same family dynamic formulas in all disaster movies is wearing on my nerves:

"we're going through a divorce, but because the new dad is an snow, we somehow come together as a family in the end, all while jillions of people are dying around us". ffs. and this is the second disaster movie(that i know of), that effects los angeles and other parts of california. yeah, san andreas fault, we get it. but i don't give a snow about california. it's a hipster state, and the sooner it gets swallowed by the ocean, the better.

Nah. That's harsh. California is a ton of fun once you reconcile the fact that you need to travel 5 hours east to find a glass of water.
