Not bad. Seems to have a bit different atmosphere then rest of Marvel movies which I'm getting kinda bored with. But I hate what they did to Baron Mordo. Not because of some racist circumstances, but rather because I simply dislike when they change the original character so much (he does not even have his hallmark collar).

I intended to watch this at some point, this trailer pushed it back in the list. Hard. Uninspired, generic, awfully directed.

I have quite different feelings. I'm not expecting to be great movie just entertaining popcorn movie where I get to see Orcs doing some havoc.

I'll probably lower my expectations to that level as well, it's for the best. I had some hopes since it was Warcraft and Blizzard behind it, but I'm not feeling it. It's the same new type bullsnow from the american cinematography, it makes me puke. I swear, ever since Avatar the appeal of a majority of movies switched to this extreme focus on overly sugary eye candy and gratuitous action and effects, while any kind of substance or psychology took the backseat into oblivion.

to be fair, everything has been done pretty much to death. not saying they aren't out to make a quick million, tho. just that most ideas are pretty tired to start with, so they tend to fill the emotional gap with eye candy. mass-consumption movies are pretty much made to keep hollywood's extensive(and tax-evasive) bills paid, anyway.

if you check out indie movies, you'll probably be more satisfied.

Funnily, there are some people that say that "A New Hope" did the same fhing as Avatar in your opinion. Although I agree with "Avatar" being nothing more than an eye-candy, not much has changed in terms of storytellong in blockbusters because of Cameron's latest work. You still need characters compelling enough to make you, the viewer, care for the events they take part in. This has always been and will always be a basis of a good film, regardless it's a blockbuster or not.

100% agreed. Independent cinema is a goldmine of compelling stories, that only wait to be unearthed.

Eh, the trend has been around for a while. I am not against such movies per se but it takes style and vision to make them worthwhile.

I like westerns, Coen Brothers did good job on True Grit remake. This Magnificent Seven probably don't respect the classics the same. Looks like typical hollywood "blockbuster" will see it on dvd or netflix someday.

Seven Samurais is probably "the most raped movie" in cinema ever. Some of them are good tho. George Lucas openly admits Kurosawas influence on his movies, specially Seven Samurais. So nothing new here but I don't think copying, mimic is a bad thing if done right, like Quentin Tarantinos movies uses many elements of different directors and still makes it in his own style and you can see lot of heart and soul in the projects. Unfortunately we don't have very unique cinema today that would offer us new freshing experiences everytime.

So, I came across Game Change while zapping, quite a good movie focusing on the Sarah Palin story during the 2008 election campaign of John McCain. Julianne Moore is incredible as Palin, as one imdb user puts it perfectly: "Moore delivers, subtly, the Palin we all know, overflowing with unfounded, unearned, unqualified, confidence.” I knew Palin's knowledge of world geography or history was very poor, I knew she was a creationist and all the crap that goes along with it. But I had no idea she was this ignorant. How someone like that gets elected even as a governor should be considered a national issue.

I also watched American Crime Story's first season, wrapping up the OJ Simpson trial in 10 episodes and I guess after watching the two in a row, one can say "only in America." The series explains with a perfect pace, how a solid murder case relying on concrete evidence slowly turns into a live on TV, political circus about racism, class and fame. Although, I'd say hats off to Johnnie Cochran, watching him debate a point in the court was like watching Liszt playing the piano.

just checked it out on imdb. i may have to give that one a look-see, indeed.

watched it on saturday. fun movie; i thoroughly enjoyed it. also watched "deep web"(about the silk road debacle) last night. it was halfway decent. would have enjoyed it more if they had called it something else. "deep web" is a little misleading, as there is so much more that can be covered in a movie, than just the silk road. but whatever.

Talking about 'Superhero movies' I recently watched Birdman, despite the fact that many of my friends discouraged me to do so. So I sat there expecting one of those mumbo-jumbo pseudo-artistic movies that are more appearance then substance. What I got was a movie that hit me on many levels. Nostalgia (the 90s wave of supehero movies, with obvious reference to Batman movies), the "criticism" of the movie/theatre critics to some extent (great scene with the female critic in the bar), art of acting in general and the woes of celebrities-turned-scenic-actors (some might turn out good, and some suck at this), spiced up with some bold real life references to the actual modern actor scene. To some point the movie made me see what might be going on in the head of an actor going through his identity crisis ("blockbuster" movie actors are hit the most probably). And you know what? Everything in a really accesible way, not with needless over-artistry. All this filmed in an interesting, from-the-hand way (though this is Inarritus style, I've grown accostumed to it after The Revenant). Plus the movie made me feel like I was really there in New York, Broadway, feeling its eerie atmosphere in close-up.

Long things short: I've liked it.

This once again shows that there are as many opinions as there are people.

Not all Christians are creationists and not all creationists are Christian (where I live, they are Muslims) in the terminological sense of the word, which involves denying evolution and all the mainstream science that works on it.

This is not the thread for such a topic, so I'll keep it short. In that sense of the word, creationists have zero difference from these guys. It's typical bigotry, nothing more, nothing less.
