I have read it once and I loved it. I especially appreciate the complete  downfall of the character throughout the second half.

It was just an easy cheap shot I could make on you.

Yeah, well, the 1997 adaptation of Lolita is good and all, but Kubrick's adaptation is even better. As a movie, that is. I haven't read the book, so I don't know how faithful any of these adaptations were, so that doesn't matter to me. But come on, art, direction, and everything, James Mason and Peter Sellers in a non comedic role. Jeremy Irons is a great actor too, and in this one, I think he did better on the role than James Mason before him, but other than that, I liked Kubrick's version better.

Speaking of Jeremy Irons, recently watched "Kafka". Nice little gem of a movie, and yes again, Jeremy Irons is a great actor.

Murder by Death - 1976

I have always loved Peter Sellers, so this was a must for me back in the days - Just re-watched it and it's a movie that ages like fine wine, just keeps getting better

So I think we need more reviews in here! I'm a big big fan of movies and I watch a lot but you're bound to miss some good movies somewhere so I'd be cool if we could get some activity back here.

So I watched Tangled some time ago and I can't remember having had that much fun with a Disney movie since "The Incredibles" (well back then I guess Pixar was still its own company...).

So the story is probably known to anyone who's ever had a childhood. It's been changed (with Rapuzels hair now being magic, her being the daughter of the King and Queen, the prince being a Rogue) but the basic is still the same. Fair maiden with long hair trapped in a tower in the middle of a forest and she doesn't know a thing about the outside world.

So the story and cast are very straightforward since this is a fairy tale by disney afterall but it's still charming. The characters may be the usual stereotypes but they've done them quite well they're very charming and fun. Rapunzel is a slight step up from all the moronic princesses we've had so far who had to be carried along every step of the way by the male hero. She's not a Fiona from Shrek 1 but she's going in the right direction. The other protagonist being the amazing Flynn Rider who's awesome. He stumbles across her tower and adventures ensue once they leave their tower. Well what can I say it's got it all endearingly awesome characters, good humor and disney SONGS!! It may not reinvent the wheel and you'll know what your in for even before you've watched the first 2 minutes but it's nevertheless a fun and lighthearted movie.

Oh and it stars the coolest movie horse ever since Altivo from The Road to El Dorado^^.

the last movie I watched. I liked it, well specially Gallo's acting. And the movie just lacked a bit of something to become one of my favorites. But the director did something there... recommend it, just don't expect hollywood action. Trivia - Roman Polanski's wife Emmanuelle is playing in the movie as well. You may know her from Frantic best.

I watched two movies lately, karate kid and no country for old men.

The first was rather.. underwhelming. You'd think the pace would be faster and that there would be more fights but other than that it was watchable. Jackie Chan was fun to watch as always though this time his role was pretty serious and conflicted.

No country for old men was fun, ah what trouble a briefcase with money can bring. You just gotta love the hitman, a total psychopath

Edit:

And yes Maximus was one hell of a horse So much fun.

Some jerk ruined the end of Suckerpunch for me over on Kotaku.  I always think of people who spoil movies as the type of people who tell children there is no Santa.

3.Stay - Even thous this movie will probably be boring and confusing to many people, I found it a beautiful and moving way to picture the last minutes of a man dying in a car accident. A man dying with a sense of guilt, with his memories and fleeting perception mixing altogether into a disturbing picture.

I saw this one...it didn't make much sense until the end and then I didn't really care anyway.  There were some cool visual effects (lots of things in threes) but it was not a favorite movie of mine.

I said that movie was either going to be awesome or terrible when I first saw the trailer. It gave me vibes that it was going to be just some lame, forgettable run-of-the-mill female empowerment movie with lots of weird stuff and special effects. I haven't seen it yet, but does that summarize the movie?

He was the same guy that directed Watchmen AFAIK, which I felt was pseudo-intellectual garbage (though a lot of people here wouldn't agree with me).

I can understand creating a dream to cope with reality.  I can not understand creating a dream within a dream where you fight nazi-zombies, giant samurai statues, dragons, and robots, when you start to dance.

I applaud the effort but the end result was severely disappointing.

As long as it's going to have nice effects and action scenes, it's ok. That's the only thing this kind of movies are good for, anyway.

But even so, if I want good action, I'm much better off watching this.

I wouldn't have absolutely any problem with that if everything else wasn't ****.

Problems ranging from the high-school-musical acting crew to the trying-too-hard "messages" shoved in the movie which sound like the work of a 12 year old emo poet wannabe (along with the bullcrap overflow by the narrator at the very end of the film which made me want to puke out my genitals; which, in turn, I bit off and swallowed at the "tell... mom... I love her..." dying moment); everything aside from the steampunk Nazis and samurai statues with bazookas and the giant dragon eating an airplane was crap. Those over-the-top moments were like small oases of fun in the movie. A pause from the overwhelming C-class pathetic of the rest of the story.

American teens will probably love it and earn it a lot of money, though.

Sigh.

I suppose I'm ranting this hard because I saw the trailer and it had bloody Led Zeppelin in it, and all those other awesome things, and I was like, "alright there'll probably be a few sucky moments but I'll be able to ignore them for the general coolness of this whole thing". And as it turned out, everything other than the two minutes from the trailer turned out to be that crappy moment. And it was crappier than I thought.
