And neither Kevin Spacey nor Christopher Walken play Moriarty.

Watched Immortals by the way.

Better give your money to a homeless person. And be sure to tell him not to spend it on watching Immortals.

What makes you say that, bak? Heard it had interesting visuals by a few critics, so I'm curious why you're dissing.

EDIT: bought the original straw dogs. Will watch it when in a darker mood probably.

I wouldn't know about the visuals, it's quite possible they're awesome. I couldn't really see any of them because they were in the bloody dark all the time. So it's either a scheme to start charging people for night-goggles as well as 3D ones at the cinema, or the director hoped to make one of those dark&gritty atmospheres, but kind of overdid it. Especially since neither the story nor the narration are up for that (aside from a few - unnecessary - gory moments).

Everything is cliche and oversimplified, even for Hollywood standards, from the characters to the surrounding world to the events depicted. The story itself is rushed and short, with few stuff really happening throughout the movie, and there was hardly anything that kept me going aside from the copious amounts of physics I knew I had to study afterwards and the unwavering spirit of procrastination within me. It's not the worst movie I've ever seen, far from it. But Theseus kinda deserved better than this.

He's probably dissing it due to the "hollywoodation" also known as throw in a bunch of hot guys and girls wha can rarely act, spend 3 minutes on the actual story and character development , spend millions on special effects and there you have it a blockbuster which sucks big time but hey homeless people love it

As if you watch Andrzej Wajda, Satoshi Kon and Tarkovski all the time and know your bollywood wel enough to diss hollywood's style.

I unno I like Tarsum's arthousey action gore thingies, like the cell and such, but then again, I'm one of those evil people who totally enjoyed sucker punch (It has an orc trying to hi-jack a wwII bomber by launching other orcs in it via catapult.)

Sucker punch had really little story to speak of. It was just a trip, man. Though, it's really hard to find one critic that considered it good, but then again, maybe it's a grudge critics hold against Zack Schnyder for making 300.

Just watched Nightmare before Christmas again, love that movie. So much nostalgia and memories, + awesome songs. And Oogie-Boogie of course, the most awesome bogeyman I have ever seen. Tim Burton produces quality stuff in general, but this is still an amazing movie.

So I finally got around to watching Harry Potter's final two movies and I have to say I was a little underwhelmed.  Certainly I didn't feel it deserved all the ejactulatory "OMG it's the best movie ever made" reviews it got from the mainstream reviewers.

<potential spoilers>

Granted, I never read any of the books past the second one and I've never been that huge a fan of the films - finding them serviceable for an evening of entertainment but not much else - but aside from some admittedly dazzling special effects, I thought the conclusion was a vapid, by the numbers movie that did little to keep me interested, especially given that it was (between the two parts) over four hours long.

I thought the screenplay in particular was a mess.  I don't know how it compares to the book, but the plot was nothing other than an endless fetch quest and the teeny-bopper, angsty love-triangle of the first part of Deathly Hollows could easily compete with anything the Twilight Series has to offer.  For all the talk of the excellent acting ability of the three primary actors, I thought the acting was wooden and the chemistry (between Hermione and Ron, in particular) was virtually nonexistant - but maybe that's just because the characters themselves are little more than cardboard cutouts.  Really - who is Harry Potter?

The film suffers from some severe pacing issues and quite a few questions were left unresolved.  The film's "wow" revelation, about Potter's paternity, could have been a stunning climax, but the choice to deliver it in a sort of flashback form, after the character involved was already dead no less, was clumsy and hamfisted, and drained any impact the potential climax might have otherwise had.

The final confrontation is indeed exciting (if a bit contrived) but after four hours I was feeling a bit too drained to really be interested, and the film's awkward denoument was.. awkward.  None of the characters played convincing 30 something and it just left a sour, flat note that pretty much summed up, in my estimation, the whole series.

I can't help but feel the glowing reviews of this film were a fairly dishonest attempt to honor a beloved book series, given more out of nostalgia and wishful thinking that what the film itself actually deserved.  As I said, I only read the first two Harry Potter books, and my impression of the film series in general doesn't leave me much desire to finish the other five.

The last I saw was the Half Blood Prince.  After they omitted so much of the plot to focus on stupid teenage angst, I gave up on the movie series.

I wonder if he gets pumped up like crazy on Venom or if they try and go the semi-realistic path and just make him really buff.

Can't wait to see him break the bat.

Ah this'll be awesome... this and Prometheus... wow...

I don't know why you're so excited over Bane. Are you not aware that he already made an appearance in the Batman with George Clooney? What more could you possibly want?

I'm assuming they won't do anything over-the-top with him since they try to make the movies semi-believable. When he said "When Gotham is ashes, you have my permission to die" I instantly fell in love with him though. The Dark Knight leaves big shoes to fill but I hope they pull it off. It's always kind of cool to have a villain that can actually melee with Batman. They haven't had that yet.

Hahaha besides the fact that he was a braindead pet?

He's supposed to be like, smarter than Batman. Like that about him... not just braindead muscles...

Agreed about Batman melee. Shall be glorious. I imagine Bruce will go through a "I CAN'T DEFEAT HIM" crisis after Bane beats the living hell out of him... then we get a Rocky training montage, or not.

Ah... I sound like a fan yet I never read the comics nor watched the animations. Just watched the movies and played the latest games... then got a lore-rush and decided to read through all the character stories on some wikia.

Scarecrow remains my favourite villain, Bane takes second place.

Sig-worthy.

Danny DeVito Penguin is still my favorite, but the Batman movies have packed some awesome villains. Their interpretation of Bane kind of reminded me of Jared Nomak from Blade 2 (the main antagonist guy). Yea, I know one of them is a dude and the other one is a homeless person carrying an advanced strain of the vampiric reaper virus, but they just sort of gave me similar vibes as that extremely bitter, rustic, hard-to-kill kind of person.
