I watched Gangster Squad today

It's a The Untouchables rip off. Instead of Al Capone (Robert De Niro) we have Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) building an empire and buying off everybody in the city. A small team of honest cops stand up to him, the nerdy guy in team gets killed and now it's personal. They even ripped the "I want him dead, I want his family dead" dialogue with just a little altering.
This one is much shallower in terms of character development and chemistry between actors. Also it is so fast-paced it feels like a synopsis instead of a story but I guess a story in an action film is considered outdated nowadays!
Well, at least Emma Stone looks hot in 50's style.

Just saw the new Evil Dead film. I probably looked like a sadist smiling through the entire movie while other people squirmed and my wife clung to me. It was a great remake and I strongly recommend it.

Django Unchianed was pretty cool. I expected no less from Tarantino. Nothing about the movie that I can say I didn't like.

I watched Dredd 3 times already. Such a fantastic movie.
I'm getting bad vibes from the Ironman 3 trailer. I feel like it will be a comic book movie that's too much focused on a subpar romance.

Watched Dredd too but had to turn it off halfway because it completely fried my ridiculo-meter. Loud, ugly, violent, repetitive and boring mess of a sci-fi movie. For me.

After all these years, I've finally watched Serpico and what a great movie. It really was the golden times for Al Pacino I guess, The Godfather 1 & 2, Dog Day Afternoon and now this. Comparing it to the latest crap he's been on, you can't help to think not only him but Hollywood is going backwards.

I've watched Eyes Wide Shut again (I ahd only watched it when I was younger and couldn't remember much). I liked it, but thought it was really creepy for the most part.

Watched the Life of Pi. It really tickeled my fancy, I enjoyed it immensely. Thought provoking, and absolutely beautiful (on many levels)

I watched Battleship last night. There aren't many movies out there more obscenely ridiculous, yet unlike the Transformer films, which were equally absurd, I actually kind of enjoyed it. The presence of Brooklyn Decker (or the absence of Shia LaBeouf) might have had something to do with it.

(*Spoilers*, just in case anybody is taken hostage by sado-terrorists and forced to watch a 24 hour Battleship marathon in a broom closet)
Pretty much the only coolish part of the movie was when they undocked the retired battleship and went into John McClane mode against the alien ship. The rest of it was bad, and the acting was bad. The lowest point of the movie was when the one guy touched the alien and discovered that the alien is apparently a genetically defective Vulcan. Once the mind meld with the alien's memories was over, my blood pressure plummeted and I blacked out from sheer stupidity. After I recovered from my coma the movie was almost over. The experience probably would have killed a diabetic person.
