Some Difficult Questions.

This thread is going to concentrate on what, for many, will be some difficult questions.  For some the questions will be rather easy.  Here is the first ones.

You have been best friends with somebody for years.  Everytime you needed them, they were there no questions asked.  One day you are talking and they finally admit they are homosexual (You had no suspicions or clues at all that this was even a possibility)

If your best friend was of the same sex, how would you react?

If your best friend was of the opposit sex, how would you react?

Later your and your friend is in a public place, and somehow the word has gotten out.  Now they are being picked on.  Do you stand up for your friend?  What if you and they would be greatly outnumbered?

They call you late at night and need picked up at a gay bar.  Do you go?

The friend that is the opposit sex gets way drunk and makes advances on you.  What do you do?

I'd become a little more distant, really... I have nothing against homosexuals and I don't even think they're weird, but...
Okay, I admit it, I may have SLIGHT homophobic tendencies. I would have the irrational fear of me being subject to that love

Quote:
If your best friend was of the opposit sex, how would you react?

No problem.

Quote:

I have never heard of such situations...
Anyway, I would not draw attention, because anyone bothering someone over their sexual preferences is still mentally ten years old and we it's better for all of us to ignore these people. If you're talking fisties, then I'll have you know I'm a massive coward and have no body mass to boot.

Quote:

I assume he/ she 'd pick me up at astraight bar so...

Quote:

Heavily depends on which female friend. Either way, I don't think I would say: wait, weren't you a lesbian?

*pauses*
*laughs out loud for a few seconds*

In the easiest situation: the female friend is a good friend, but definitely not a close friend, then I'd say. Alright, time to go home, (insert sardonic nickname here).

I fear that our friendship would become disturbing. Couldn't throw sexual jokes around anymore etc. However, I wouldn't become enstranged from him.
Quote:

Unless I had a major crush on her, I wouldn't mind. Actually I would find it hot.
Quote:

I would definitely stand up for him, I would stand up for anyone who is being treated wrong. Everyone who picks on someone because of his sexuality is just an immature moron who I cannot stand in any situation and I would be always ready to kick ass of such.
Quote:

EDIT: Misread the question. I certainly would pick him up.

I'd try to find a good-looking man around, tell my friend that he looks like a gay and that he should go hit on him.

Good answers, but I do want to point out it is a friend of the opposit sex (ie if you are male they are female).  (For the last question)

At first I'd be like "WHOA DUDE WHAT THE ****" but then I'd be like "Dude, alright, I overreacted, it's ok... Just keep your dong away from me and we're cool".

Cool with that.

Depends on whether my German shepherd's with us. She'll be able to change the odds quite a bit in a few months when she grows up. ^^

If we're alone, I'd be like "Screw these jokers, come on, let's get out of here." I'm not much of a fighter, and gay people aren't known for that either.

Quote:

Not only do I go but I also play this song on my car CD player while I'm driving. Sound to the max.

Always wanted to do that.

Quote:
The friend that is the opposit sex gets way drunk and makes advances on you.  What do you do?

Depends on a hundred things. For example, how hot she is, whether I'm single, and last but not least how drunk I am. I certainly wouldn't have let her drink alone.
If you were aiming at moral problems about preserving her sexuality, nah, I don't have those. If alcohol makes her doubt her sexuality, then that sexuality might not be so genuine in the first place. Besides, at least in this environment here, it's generally better for her to be straight anyway.

Right, that about covers it all.

How is that supposed to be possible? I mean, that may be possible when you are 15, but imagine you and your "best friend" is 30. What happenend? You never saw him/her with a him/her? You were never out in pairs? He/her never had a date and you never talked about that strange fact?
I mean, if it actually DID happen, I would probably assume that he/she had a MASSIVE coming-out problem, and would ask what took him/her so long to tell or act on it.
It's some time ago when I was 15, so I wouldn't know how I'd have reacted then. Anxious, I suppose, in case 1, curious in case 2.
Quote:

Later your and your friend is in a public place, and somehow the word has gotten out.  Now they are being picked on.  Do you stand up for your friend?  What if you and they would be greatly outnumbered?
I don't want to joke about this, but I can't help myself: if it was my idea to go to a place where a gay person is being picked on and greatly outnumbered, I probably took him deliberately to a meeting of the local skinhead chapter and want him or her to get spanked. If, on the other hand he/she took me there I'm not going to stand for him/her because he/she seems to be a little foolish.
And seriously, if this happens due to  cruel twist of fate or because we are living in the most homophobe part of the world I will stand up for him/her and should we survive I'm going to suggest that he/she moves elsewhere.
Quote:

They call you late at night and need picked up at a gay bar.  Do you go?
I'd tell them to take a cab - not because of the gay bar, but because I'd probably be pissed being called late at night to play taxi chaffeur. If we wanted to meet somewhere, on the other hand, with the bar, being on my way or something, and I'll get a call whether I could pick him/her/they up there - sure. I'd say come out in 10 minutes or so, I'll stop at the corner x and y. If you want to know whether I'd set a foot into a gay bar if I was asked, I'd say, yes, why not.
Quote:

The friend that is the opposit sex gets way drunk and makes advances on you.  What do you do?
Here the question is obviously, whether in such a situation it would make a difference for my reaction whether I thought she were straight or she had just told me she was lesbian. Since I have still trouble to envision the whole scenario, it's very hypothetical, so I'll say tentatively: it will probably make a difference. If I thought she was straight and if I was still halfway clear - as opposed to her - I wouldn't want her doing something she might be unhappy with the next day, so I'd be cautious anyway. If she had jut told me she were lesbian, I'd be even more cautious, and I think I'd be very curious about what the freaking hell actually went on here. On the other hand I could imagine thinking - provided I wasn't in a relationship and found her attractive - what the hell, if she's really lesbian, she may just be momentarily confused, so chances are it won't stand between our friendship since it won't happen again.
Lastly I might think that it all was a ruse designed to get me curious about her or something.

That's very hypotetical question as I hardly have any friends, for sure not the ones who want me to pick them up.

Since it already happened, the "if" part is unnecessary. I've been surprised, since the person I knew claimed himself homophobic for years, and we used to discuss girls over and over just a couple months before.

Quote:

I don't have any female friends (anymore) and I don't plan to.

Well, both he and I are type of people who don't give a **** about other people's opinion. So I think we'd simply ignore the crowd... not that anybody picks on anyone in Poland because he's gay, excluding "strong in numbers" on parades and hate comments over internet. In real life, people in Poland are usually very careful NOT to offend anybody, in majority.

Still, if that situation ever happened, what could I tell those people other than "go **** yourselves" ?

I guess nothing else. Primitive provocation demands primitive answer.

Yes, I wouldn't mind.

Tell her to **** off. Normally, I don't really enjoy being along drunk people, I usually make a hasty retreat once everyone gets drunk, so most likely it would never happen (skipping the fact I don't have female friends & I don't want to, ofc )

I have absolutely nothing wrong with Homosexuals, and I believe that Homosexuals should be allowed respect and same sex Marriage SHOULD be Legal.

But, no one ever Seduces me, ever!

Same thing I'd do if there was no homosexuality issue in the problem. Try and get away peacefully, hoping said friend doesn't try anything "heroic".

Make some kind of joke about it, then say, "Okay, whatever, it doesn't matter, you're still the same person."

If my best female friend said she was a lesbian, lulz would probably ensue, as she is quite homophobic. I'd say, "So I take it you don't want to exile all the gay people to Texas any more?" But I'd accept her.

Quote:

Yes, I would stand up for them no matter what.

Quote:

I can't see either of them at a bar of any kind, so I'd wonder why they were there in the first place. I'd pick them up, although I'd ask them to wait outside - I don't want to go into the bar.

Quote:
The friend that is the opposit sex gets way drunk and makes advances on you.  What do you do?
I can't see her getting drunk at all - she completely abstains from alcohol - but, "I thought you were a lesbian. What, not entirely? Hope you don't regret this in the morning."

I said some would find them difficult, and some would find them easy.  These are not the only questions either (there will be more)

As for the questions..remember that these are 'hypothetical'.  Treat them as if they really happen, but take the questions as they are.

So even if you don't think your friend would do that (or that you would have no such friend) react as if you do/they did.

Edit : For those who would 'take advantage of the situation' shame on you!  Even if your friend was straight it would not be right to do anything in this situation.  Shame shame shame .

a Russian saying goes a "what the sober in hes head, the drunk on hes tong". meaning that whatever feeling she might show when shes drunk not necessarily be reaction to the booze, it might be relaxing maneuver and easier way to express whats truly on there hearts. then again it depends on level of drunkness. if she can't stand still she is no good to me in bed so ill walk her home instead.

Next round of questions.

Your friend has just saved your life.  To do so, they had to break a law.  By some miricle unless YOU say something they will get away with breaking this law.  How do you react if..

It is something minor (like they had to break into a car to save your life, or a house)

If it is something not so minor (they had to kill somebody (not self defense) to save your life)

It was something major (3 or more people died so your friend can save your life).

Remember by some absolute miricle there are no witnesses (besides you), and no evidence that will link them to this crime.
