Some of you already knew but I was testing a new version the past few days. Not much is new, however the sphinx now gives lvl 18 and less resources are available for arcane library. That changes the whole balance, hopefully for the best

My intent was to slow down the action, make the map more tactical. And indeed now you cannot have everything, if for instance sylvan goes retribution and light they will be forced to leave something behind, be it offensive or defensive. Likewise the spellpower of magic factions decreases which makes things a little more balanced for factions like orcs or inferno against necro. I cannot guarantee perfect balance but I hope this is a step in the right direction.

personally i thought the map was pretty balanced already, with this change - while definitely interesting- it changes the dynamic to favor might factions.

i guess there is no way to be sure than by just playing it out and see what happens if anything, unit amounts may have to be tweaked a little bit

Well, if it's all for the greater good...

But might factions still get to take out 1-2 stacks, or render them inconsequential, before the enemy can respond in this setup

There's a risk that Academy will get shafted badly and Dungeon will be forced to go might all the way, which isn't natural to them.

Anyone having issues let me know but be sure to both have the same map in the folder, no other custom maps in and no mods. Only skin mods seem to work online and the xazardous ones.

Indeed, changing to lvl 18 is controversial but ofc it's easier for the non-elite (like me) to express opinion thru actual battle replay than just thoughts...
- what are the changes to number of creatures compared to last version?
- why particular race now favoured - show by replays/builds?
light/dark mass spells are not affected as much as summoning/dest magic/might skills(especially if one doesn't choose exp luck anymore) --> that could possibly favour light academy or when one gets RM/haste/cleansing/endurance???

btw, it cannot be completely balanced unless Elvin makes custom army sizes for each INDIVIDUAL hero vs hero matchup because each hero is different, if assuming 8 heroes for 8 factions, that's like 282016 different combination of army numbers...[this doesn't mean I support or not support the change]
no official replays yet, maybe everyone just rpactising?

I have some interesting replays, will post tomorrow. But army is the same and it seems to be fine this way. There has been some issue with the merchant system so the next version will feature a different one.. Can't share many details right now since I'm hard-pressed, so many things to do.



On that note please wait until I fix the issue on the map, I should have it tomorrow afternoon. Since Vlaad and Elderane already played one game they should play their second match with Vlaad playing red.

This time the issue is Nival related

Fun map. I'm surprised you kept some of the campaign heroes in it though, especially Agrael for Inferno: +18% creature initiative from first to last round is brutal, especially when you stack it with Power of Speed. But I guess time will tell.

Nah I nerfed him quite a bit His total bonus at lvl 18 is around 5% so it only gives +1 init to units with 13+ initiative. About the issue I mentioned earlier player 1 almost always seems to get relics while player blue almost never, beats me why that even happens. That is why I'll have to redesign the system and remove merchants But the alternative is more balanced as you will see.

Three areas with 1 relic, 2 major and 3 minor arties and you can only choose one. Cases where you get overabundance of spellpower or attack arties will not be getting in the way of gameplay but on the other hand since you can pick the area you won't have bad luck with arties. Well unless all 3 suck

Wouldn't surprise me if there are MORE non-confirmed issues related to game engine/software like when morale/luck/ethereal misses happen, who hosts game, 2% skills popping up etc [as well as one that I've already mentioned privately, I highly doubt the game's random number generator]...this is crazy for all of us [but luckily temple forumers don't really care who wins & play for fun]

Since Towerlord found the solution I went with the existing merchant system except this time you have to teleport to a separate area. Now both merchants will give a relic, should be interesting Keep in mind that the only way to return from artifact area is that town portal scroll.

Hey, there's 5 people in the network atm including myself, unfortunately no Godulio but we'll find each other sooner or later. Anyone else interested in a few bloody battles where hundreds of fantasy creatures that we don't even have any of in the real world will get murdered for no reason?
