The entry level for the Army is Private E-1. I was promoted to Private E-2. I think all it means is I get a little bit more money.

Private E-1? Private E-2? What kind of snow is that?
A private is always a private - the guy with the lowest time in the army and therefore the target to all possible choirs... although I suppose you can try to dump them on E-1 privates since you're more physically fit... So that's what's it all about! E-1, E-2, bah! it simply separates the bullies from the bullied.

That would be cool but I was told they could consider that as treason. When I report for my job I have to go through some sort of debriefing about how anything I see is classified and whatever. I doubt the Army has that many interesting secrets anyway.

E-1 is buck private, E-2 I think is just called private. Yes more money, but that is about it. Doesn't really mean much, especially in basic when everybody going through the training is lower then worms. (And they don't let you forget that ). E-2's have no authority. Even Corporals (e-3) have limited authority. You have to be at LEAST a Sgt. Unless you are MP's... then a Private CAN order a General around (though it is ill advised lol).
