Cyber Rat and Matt were tampering with the controls of the cryogenic pod. After a few failed attempts, the reptilian being started to defrost. After a few minutes the pod opened, and a athletically built humanoid emerged from it.
- Warm him up! Quickly!
Bear helped the creature stand up.
- Here, drink this- Jaina offered him a mug of warm tea.
- I thank you young one- the creature spoke with a hissing lisp. His head resembled a cobra.- Tell me, what year is it?
- July, 3300. You were frozen for about 26 milleniums.
- So... It's been more than 26 milleniums that we dealt the main blow against the Invaders. But tell me, if I spent so much time frozen, shouldn't the year be 280300 or so?
- We're counting time from the moment our deity was born- Interferred Bishop.- It's a bit complex, I'll explain later, If you'd want.
Matt's eyes shined like little kids' on Christmas morning while looking at the creature. Jaina on the other hand remained a little more serious.
- You could tell us more at our camp in the surface.
After they went to the surface, the creature covered his eyes from the sunlight. He still shivered as he wasn't warmed up enough.
Meanwhile Alex tried to contact his teammates.
- Jorn, what's the situation up there? Do you copy? DO YOU COPY?!- No one responded. There was only static. He went back inside the tent. He looked at the reptilian

Matt turned on a recording module.
- Udirah, could you tell us more about the Cataclysm and the Invaders?
The warrior sighed and started talking.

-Attention to all G.R. this is not a drill.We are all under attack.I repete this is not a drill. Jorn's call was heard over the ship's radio as they where flying out, which made Tracey a bit uneasy.
-Ok now what? He turned to his andromedian fellow. Should we scrath the mission and go help them or just let them deal with their own problem? His voice sounded like he couldn't care less if they left the others to themselves.

Geist laughed out loud in his raspy evil voice at the two sisters. "Ahahahahahahaha!!! You truly think you can defeat us, vermin!?"
Geist then teleported behind Terra's sister and and put her into a chokelock, making her sputter and cough. As Geist held her tight, sharp claws extended from his gauntlet fingers, pricking her neck.
"Let us show you some humility!" yelled Geist into her ear as tears fell from her face.
"We want to her you SCREAM!!!" yelled Geist as she fell unconscious onto the ground. Terra and Ball stood shocked before Geist as he was preparing to feast on her soul.

After grabbing some coffee, Alex went outside. He tried to contact his teammates.
- This is Crussoe. Requesting all remaining G.R. to respond! Does anyone copy? Please respond! Are there any survivors?! Does anyone copy?!
- No use trying for the next few hours Scorch. A sandstorm is raging over the nearest com tower. It's jamming outgoing messages from here.- Said Cyber Rat.- only local comunication is possible, and those too expierience static.
Alex was getting frustrated. This unknowning made him very tense

In that moment Baal with feeling of HIS fault quickly froze Geist by making an ice of him, then turned to sisters and said.
"I have to apologize again. He is psychopath. He will be frozen for few minutes only. Would you mind help me to take him to our shuttle?"

Geist soon woke up in the shuttle, his head pounding like a war drum. As he stood up, Baal, who was hovering nearby, asked, "Are alright there, my friend? You took quite a turn there."
Geist merely replied with, "It matters not, iceman. We are fine..."
Suddenly the intercom voiced out, "All GR! Return to HQ! All GR! This is not a drill! I repeat! This is not a drill!"
Baal then said, "It has been doing that for some time. We are headed back now at any rate."
Geist only replied with, "Good."

Alex walked around the camp. The pile of burned alien machinery and corpses was still smoking. His old teammates were all in the tent except for Hawk and Bear who were on guard duty. Alex put on his sunglasses and tied his bandana around his face to cover his mouth and nose.
- I'm heading to the town.- he adjusted his earcom- If someone needs to contact me, turn to frequency Alfa-Gamma-Delta.
- How long are you going to be there?
- An hour or two. I need to get several parts, and hopefully a radio contact with my teammates.
He started the engine of his motorcycle and set off.

Alex rode his bike through the desert, leaving only clouds of dust behind. He had a lot on his head. The ferocious roaring of the engine calmed him down. He entered the main highway. The town was 20 kilometers away. He pushed his transport to the limit.
- Scorch, this is Cyber Rat. The sand storm cleared, you can now contact your fellow operatives.
- Affirmative.
After hearing that Alex stopped at a small resting lot.
- This is G.R. operative Crussoe. Requesting all remaining G.R. to respond! Does anyone copy?
- Baal here, what's your status Alex?

"Who is out there? This is Lt. Haus, our captain is missing. He went in to try to clear a path for any people trapped in the building. Our men have fallen back. At least the snowing portals have stopped opening. We need orders, we are not equipped to handle these guys."
The Male venetian responds. "Haus, its me. Found one person and retreated. Fall back, I repeat fall back. No other life signs are on the base. Regroup around our beacon."
"Negative sir, turn off the beacon. Repeat turn off the beacon. These things can go in space, and they have been homing in on all beacons. You are a sitting duck out there. We have your location, shut that dang thing off and we will be there as quick as we can."
"Copy that, turning off beacon and awaiting you. What the heck ARE these things?"
"Unkown, but they have a inter dimensional signature. Don't think they are from around here."
"Copy, think reinforcements are on the way. Anybody heard from Big Ben?"
"Negative, but if we know Ben, he can handle himself. He may be maintaining radio silence as to not give away his position to the enemy."
"Roger. Be safe, Reinforcements are on the way."
"Copy, hope they have about half the Federation with them."
"Roger. I do to...over and out."

After a short conversation with the uranian, Alex learned about the destruction in New York, and their plans to go back to the base. Alex warned to evade or destroy any disc or cigar shaped vessels.
He saw several unknow vehicles approach. They opened fire. Alex turned around, returned fire to them, and moved straight towards them, firing his bike's integrated guns. Two custom belt fed machineguns barked rapidly, and combined with the engine's roar, created a sound that even the most ferocious predator could not. The skirmish resembled a some twisted wild dance, as Alex turned and lifted the bike's front each time he aimed. One alien craft was smashed by a passing truck. 85 tons of reinforced steel was no match for a small repulsorlift vehicle. Alex, after a hard atempt, gunned down three of them. The last vehicle was on the run. Alex started chasing it. The driver was a good one, but Alex was riding the steel stallions since he was twelve. He used a empty car trawler as a ramp. He was right behind the alien. Alex opened fire. He shot down the driver, and evaded his craft. He then saw the buildings of the town, and moved straight towards it, leaving a huge car crash behind him.

Baal turned the radio on again:
"This is Baal. We are 5 minutes fly to the base. Survivors, insonify your absolute coordinates. I repeat, we need your absolute coordinates."
Seconds later Geist said: "Look there, three dits three dahs three dits - looks like a SOS signal. Here they are."
Then Baal said again on radio:
"Negative. We've found you. Wait us - 5 minutes."

Alex was stopped by two IDP policemen.
- Seem's your little joyride is over. Show your licence.
Alex pointed at his armband, where his badge rested. The duo turned paper white.
- See this, ostriches? Now, do you hide your heads in the concrete or do you need some help with that? If I made a mess, there's a pretty good reason for that. Got it?
They nodded.
- Oh, sorry sir, we offer our deepest apologies. Sorry.
- Get out of my sight you two.
- Oh, yes sir, sorry again sir.
"Wimps."- Alex thought.- "But the badge sure has it's advantages. I can just show it and everyone loads their pants. Awesome!"
He then drove to the trade district, looking for a machinery shop.

My partner asked me a question. I myself took my hand to my cheek and thought about it for awhile before saying "Let's get back to the base and help them out. We can manage our hunt for the smuggler from there."

Alex bought the parts he needed and was getting back to the camp. He saw black smoke coming from the site. He rushed to get there as fast as possible. He then saw two disc shaped vessels landing, and one already grounded. He saw the Iron Wolwes providing backup fire to Udirah. The subterran wielded a single triangular energy blade, and attacked the invading aliens. Alex picked up his carbine and joined the battle. He mutilated two aliens with his bayonet, and rushed to help the mercs.
- Am I glad to see you!- shouted Swede.
- Just provide us cover fire! Blaze, come with me!
The two went to the alien ships, firing at random targets. The vessels were further away from each other. Alex and blaze planted the explosives on the first one, and moved back to the fight. The ship exploded, lighting up the evening sky. Alex saw 4 mercs taking his siblings to the 'Marauder'. They were providing excelent cover, but a lone projectile managed to hit Jaina in the chest. Alex dropped his gun and picked up the psi-amp. While traveling to the asteroid containing the alien facility, Emily had made great adjustments to the device, including a reatractable pole. It made the psi amp more suitable for carrying around.
Alex activated the psi amp.
- Get out of the battlefield. Retreat to the unearthed base.- Alex contacted every friendly mind mentally.
Udirah tried to argue, but quickly changed his mind when he sensed Alex's emotions.
The team ran to the tent, then to the excavation site.
Alex anger fueled his power. Psionic frost covered not only his body, but also a small area of ground. A lightning bolt struck at one of the alien vessels, while the rest exploded on their own. Aliens grabbed their heads and started kneeling, until each of them were torn apart. Their machinery and guns were shorted out by the furious psionic storm. The air itself was cracking. Two more ships were approaching. Another lightning bolt struck one of them. The burning vessel crashed into another, and both exploded in mid-air. Alex sensed the mind of every living alien and burned their brain. Another bolt of lightning struck the earth. Alex didn't sensed the alien presence anymore. He sent another mental message.
- It's safe now.
He kneeled, and then collapsed on the desert sand.
((three days later, Italy))
Alex woke up in a hospital room with a terrible headache. His dad was snoozing near his bed. A 65 year old balding man with a weathered face and broad shoulders.
- Dad?
- Oh, Alexander, you're finally awake. How you're feeling?
- Aside from a skullsplitting migrene I'm quite allright. But nevermind me, how's Jaina?
The old man's eyes were watery.
- I don't know how to tell you this, but... She didn't make it. She died yesterday.
Alex was shocked. He grabbed his blanket.
- I have failed my mission. Only me to blame for her death dad. Only me.
- Don't say that son. You did the best you could.
- I slaughtered every single one of them. I felt their very souls screaming for mercy. But their deaths won't bring Jen back.
- We all miss Jen. It's a huge loss to us, and a stab in the heart for me.
Alex and his dad hugged.
Later that day, Alex attended to Jaina's funeral. Bishop was holding the ceremony.
- ... Saint Mary, mother of our Lord, pray for us sinners, today, and at the hour of our death. Amen.
- Amen.
Alex put a boquet of white orchids at her grave. He remembered the time he spent with her, and wiped a tear.
Udirah tried to comfort him, when they went out of the ceremony. He was wearing one of Bishop's spare robes. The usually xenophobic Bishop felt great respect to Udirah, after he selflessy stood up and defended the twins.
- Feel your pain I do, young one. Though known to me for short time only, remember her as a great being I will.
- Thanks Udirah.- Alex's face turned serious.- Will you train me in the art of your swordfighting?
The subterran nodded.
- Train you I will Alexander. See great potential in you I do.
- When can we start?
- Rest and heal your wounds you must. Become your teacher I will tommorow.
