Both were fish, Ceasar was a big fish in a small pond, Cleo was a smaller fish, Ceasar has already eaten and was full (of it) however due to his greed (or the simple fact that fish have a memory similar to that of a slightly retarded person and I dont want to name hc memebers ) Ceasar went and fed again, this time on Cleo... Cleo dead, Ceasar died as well better yet overdosed on food....
The other version, some other animals and the dumb Ceasar choked on Cleo's bone, which is retarded considering the fact that Cleo is a female and she shouldnt have a "bone" (yup word game )

Yes, Caesar and Cleopatra are pets, they are not birds, nor insects nor arachnids, and their genders are irrelevant. You need to elaborate before I can answer the other two questions.
@Gnomes: Close, but no
@Smithey: I guess your solution works, but originally it is a bit more bloody. Do You want me to IM you my version?

Would be good, but no.(Anyway, there are snakes that feed on other snakes, and they tend to survive it)
PS:Further guessing is only needed if You are interested in the original version, as Smithey has technically solved it.
