I for one play from couch mouse only...I got buttons for wait and defend... no I need control too...

Please at least make this behavior an option, I for one would like this shadows shown without pressing CTRL.

For what it's worth, I finally broke down and created a profile for my Logitech G600 MMO gaming mouse. I can now play one-handed, using just the mouse, including shift+, ctrl+, alt+, and even shift+ctrl+ (for populating all empty slots with a single fodder.

I agree though that the movement hex shadows should be on by default. In fact, I'd love to see it display 2 colors, with the 2nd indicating where they could move if they got a morale bonus. And perhaps a similar feature to mark off 10 hexes from your archer stacks and so on.

Finally, just wanted to add that holding Shift while mousing over an enemy will also display their movement.

There is a problem with hd mod when having Era... When moving artifacts on the hero screen, when you click a warlords banner or enhanced commander artifact it disappears along with the cursor, making you move it blindly around, without seeing where your cursor is. Making the resolution at 800x600 won't solve the problem. You have to start the standard Era .exe without HD Mod to solve it.

This is just a suggestion.

For the sake for variety, it'd be cool if you could select a custom player colour. Red vs. blue gets old. It'd be nice to be able to use the other colours, too.

Also, does baratorch look at crash logs if they're posted in this thread? Or should I send them to his mail?

As mentioned I play mouse only.

It would be useful to be able to double click gold or exp from chest reward. Right now I have to do 2 actions: Select gold or exp and then click on :Accept:

Nice time saver for mouse players.

I installed H3WoG after long time, and I got the newest HD patch.

The game works fine, but what use is the game window covering most of the screen, if everything in it is so microscopic I can hardly play it?

Is there any way to stretch the things to 2 or 3 times larger? In HD Launcher there are Colormode Options with "stretchable" next to them, but selecting them changes nothing.

Which resolution did you choose? Try 1161x864.

You're placing the onus on an external source while also referring to a variable as if it's static.

When you use the HDmod, there are now two resolutions you are working with: The resolution of your screen, which HDmod utilizes automatically, and the resolution you'd like the game to be, which is something you can set by way of the INI file. For a visual aid, check out a few seconds of this video:

http://youtu.be/s5hEh-MnIQ8

That is with the INI file set to the size of 1180x664. It looks about the same as the original game because the original game was 800x600. Except with the setting I'm using, it'll utilize widescreen well. Note you can pump that video up to 1920x1080 and it still takes up the whole screen because my desktop is set to 1920x1080 even though the INI file is set at 1180x664.

So with an INI file of 1180x664 and a desktop of 1920x1080, the HDmod will SHOW 1180x664 and display it at 1920x1080.

Keep in mind that no matter what settings you use, the title screen, city screen, character screen, and combat screen will always be 800x600. That's why I like to use 1180x664: it makes those screens less distracting, but is still "blown up" enough to show all 8 heroes at once instead of the default 5 at a time.

I hope I've explained that well enough. It's an awesome mod and I hope you're able to enjoy it to the fullest.

The new feature which let's you watch the opposing player's clock is brilliant. I love it. You feel more connected between turns.

Also, grid view, great.

Thumps up !

Hey there, first of all, thanks for the mod, its awesome, second: i have a question

Is there some way you can read the stories of artifacts? (like normally when you pick them up). I think this should remove the picture of the artifact in the rigthbottom. It is just an idea since i like the stories personally

Try

It sounds like it. I find those messages annoying, though.

@Demarest, thanks for the explanation. However, I did not express myself clearly.

I am on Linux and I play heroes in a windowed Wine window. I find this method optimal for playing wine games like Diablo2, Fallout 2, etc.

They all have a scalling option and even though I have a 15.4" display with resolution of 1920x1200, I can still get a Wine window with dimensions of 80% of the screen, while the game inside is displayed at - say - 800x600.

So that's the problem. Sure, I could get it run fullscreen, but for various reasons (including being unable to use the laptop for anything else while the game is on) I do not want that.

If I understand you correctly, that's a function of the game, not the mod. When I tell the game to not be in full screen mode, it's displayed at 800x600 by default, of whatever resolution the mod is set at if you're using the mod.

I'm not versed in Linux or Wine, but doesn't Wine offer you an option of playing something "fullscreen" where fullscreen is the window of Wine and not your actual screen?

No, it's a function of Wine.

Yes, but that results in the same. I have a huge blue Wine windows, and inside it a small sub-window with Heroes.

That is why I asked if there is an option to "Stretch" or "Scale", like for example in Hi-res mod for Fallout II, or Glide wrapper in Diablo II.

Perhaps a stupid question, as I've not yet downloaded this mod (but I certainly intend to, given all the positive feedback): does it also work on the Heroes Chronicles games?

Also, what does the mod do when the resolution is larger than the actual map? I've known some other games to crash when modded this way for current-day resolutions - although I rightfully admit that I don't know if it's even possible to over-extend it, given the minimal map size in the game vs. the maximum resolution of the mod.

Custom resolutions is 1:1, except in tactical view which is still 800x600, but it gives you a sense of openness/air as you can still see some of the map. The higher the resolution the more you'll see of the adventure map; and the smaller things will be.

But just try it out, and you'll know more.

@Maurice

On the website of this mod it says (on Russian page only, though) that it is not compatible with heroes chronicles.

As for the map size and screen resolution, you will just see the whole map at once on your screen.
