I'm still missing "digging" the ground and revealing the "grail map".
The best feature in all heroes games ever.

What annoyed me about the grail maps was the fact that you didn't actually find it until the game was pretty much decided anyway, so going to all those obelisks and then digging everywhere seemed kind of pointless.

Those grail buildings do look pretty neat, though.

IF he gets it at all I've played Tree of Plenty 1.4 with 3 humans vs 1 AI, all my human players got the ToA in the first month, and when I reached AI player (very late in the game, dragged it on purpose) he never even bothered to collect all the disc pieces And ofc after defeating him I couldn't build it myself, since it needs a capitol. I wonder if it can be sold at the marketplace and at what price

Btw here is the Haven ToA.

well, yep, it's pretty underwhelming. The fully built town w/o grail has some sort of cross on top of it, the archangel statue is the grail. At least that's all I noticed changing...
I'm playing Tree of Plenty again, I'll return tomorrow to confirm after I build all the structures.

In the beta and the demo the AI is leaving behind a lot of the loot, so if the promised AI fixes are being done for the full game the AI might be capable of getting it.

back with updates on the Grail. Built for both Haven and Sanctuary and they show up.
first, let's take a little look at the ToA icons:
necro >
The statue in the thumbnail shows up when you build it (actually there are 4 of them) > screenshot

sanctuary >
A big serpentine statue (Shalassa I think) who pukes water > screenshot

haven >
An archangel seraph statue that looks the lamest on the adv map > screenshot

The problem with the haven grail that it shows up in the Town Window when you build fort III, but on the adv map it's actually a cross.

PS> I HATE not being able to take some decent screenshots because of the poor camera control! I hope they fix that someday.

All n' all, not any impressive. And I doubt they will change their designs with the new town screens because then they will have to change the models too.

Just because they wanted them to show on the adventure map's town model, they had to come up with something that would not make the town blow out of proportion. And the result is lacklusting to say in the least.

Who cares about how the town looks like on the map? If we wanna see how beautiful they are, that's what the Town Screens are for. On the map, you can have just the castle (or the hall if there are no walls) and it'll be all the same for us.

Well, supposedly you can base your strategies on what you see of your opponent's castles from the adventure map.

Because people pay attention to that stuff.

I don't know, I really like the idea of how being able to see how developed a town is, what the unique buildings are or if it has town portal. It may not necessarily help you much but it is a nice touch nonetheless.

It's not completely useless and it does make sense, I'll give it that much. But they could just make it so that if we right click over the town to get the same kind of info, if we wanted it, in text.

And that would give them the artistic freedom to make the grail buildings as impressive as they should be in the town screens.

But oh, I forget! They didn't want us to have town screens at all, at first.
