I like the new names of the Naga warrior but Cloudwalker Kirin was way better than Sacred.

Nah, Cloudwalker sounds too much like Star Wars (Skywalker).

You know... one thing I never understood was how does upgrading work. I mean... it seems to be just additional training being performed, some equipment enhancements, too, maybe additional magical enchantments.

But then there are things just like this Kenshi -> Kensei upgrade. Where do the two extra arms come from? Surgery?

...either way, I like the designs. I like experiments. I liked H4, too. It's commendable that Ubisoft's doing new things, exploring Asian culture here.
Even if the Kappa is... not what I expected.

One more thing: I liked the H4 designs for elementals the most, too. They felt like embodiments of the elements, not representations... just like it should be. The water elemental wasn't some fishlike thing - it was water, pure and simple. The air elemental... eh, funnel cloud. Recurring design, a fine one. The earth elemental did look kind of silly, but that made it even better - much better than the very floaty H5 design. The H4 one is the most "down-to-earth" design. And the fire elemental... again, the general shape of a single flame fits better in my opinion than some reptilian thing or a humanoid.

That, and most likely the fact that the regular Kirin is a flyer too.

I liked Cloudwalker better. Sacred seems too common for a name to me.

About the upgrades, let's not get there. These are mysteries better left unsolved. Let's take Dragons for example. In our minds, red dragons and black dragons have always been two different species of creatures, and I don't even wanna think that in HoMM they do so much as change the color of their scales to become upgraded in the case of H3 and H2 or an alternate upgrade in the case of H5. It's one of my main complains for the entire HoMM series that many different fantasy creatures became just the upgrades of others (such as Sprites and Dryads, Goblins and Hobgoblins, Rocs and Thunderbirds, etc.)

Dwarf Axeman -> Dwarf Stiltwalker

Doesn't sound too serious. I guess that's a problem.

I'm not sure what a hobgoblin actually is, and there's always the chance that those are just names used for upgrades that sound mightier. But still, when a creature grows extra arms, eyes or whatever for no visible reason, just by upgrading... that doesn't sound like something a nearly instant option could achieve.

lol, I think it should be a 2-upgrade system.  Halfling --> Dwarf (same height, but thicker) --> Human.

lol, that'd be terrible.

I don't like the Naga names so far.

Kensei bla bla, sounds waaaaay to similar. Why not just use another japanese military title? I know that there are lots of them. Or just Kensei - Samurai you know.

Sacred Kirin?

boooooooh boring name

and makes no sense to, because reading the normal Kirins description, it is pretty clear that it already is sacred. So Sacred Kirin is just... sacredier?
Cloudwalker Kirin was much cooler, and it would be cool that if instead of just flying, they created clouds which they jumped around on.

Kenshi = swordman
Kensai = sword saint

both are japanies names/titels. Kensai is even highe ranked than samurai. They sound similar to you? SWORDman - SWORD sanit, I do not see the problem.

time to start doing so, then

The deal with Kirin is like this, IMO: Only the Sacred ones have religious significance. It's like having an unicorn and a holy unicorn. Both are creatures of Light and quite mystical, but only the second one is outright holy.

I'm fine enough with Sacred Kirin (although there are, obviously, better adjectives that could suit them). At least they didn't call it WATER DRAGON or something of the sort O_O

hmmm, if you google images for "Kirin" then you will see similar forms like this Kirin from Heroes VI. Besides, Kirin is different from dragons

Even the description is trying to say this is uninspired.

Snow Maiden

Snow Maidens are major Water Spirits linked to the frozen aspect of Water (ice and snow). They have lived with the Naga for centuries in harmony atop their mountain retreats.

The Yuki-Onna is the upgraded Snow Maiden.

I also think that it is never good to invent creatures out of nothing and it is also bad in my opinion if they reinvent creatures,because of this I think that the inferno-faction will be my least favourite out of the 5 factions,because except for the succubus,the hellhound and more or less the juggernaut,all of the inferno units are invented...

But I also think,that some people are overreacting and think of the old games as absolute perfect games,just because they are,like this post from one of the very first pages of this thread:

Quote:

The very BASIS of heroes of might and magic was that it combined well known and fun fantasy creatures into a single game: it did NOT invent any of their own.

And the reason WHY is plain dead obvious when Ubi comes with moon-phoenix-crap. Seriously, Jezus. I mean it was already clear H5 produced a crap story with a crap background and a crap excuse for 'lore', and H6 only seems to PROGRESS into that direction.

I mean,what?They never invented any creatures?Then were did the lizardman,the beholder,troglodytes,dragonflys,gogs and even the pit lord and the horned demon were all invented creatures(not to forget the H4 creatures).
The worst of all was probably the gorgon of H3,which looked like a reptile-cow and not like a snake woman...

So I think it is kinda bad that they invented so many creatures in H6,but this was since h3 a part of the games,so I can live with it.

Lizardman = Common fantasy species, common mythological creature.
Beholder = DnD creature
Troglodyte = Cave dweller (somewhat reinvented as amphibian humanoids)
Dragonfly = A play on the word dragon and real life dragonflies
Gog = Wikipedia
Pit Lord = Generic Demon name
Horned Demon = Generic Demon

American game, so they had to take a few liberties with the names.
Gorgon is an easier (and catchier) name than Catoblepas.
It's also why Genies and Efreeti are called Genies & Efreeti and not Jinns and Ifrits.
