I've used the laa for some of my CG art programs, and it does work - just make certain to follow all the instructions. There is also a gadget called "Process Monitor" on that same page that shows if the laa will actually assist a particular application. Also note that on page 10 of the laa thread, the code is given to reset your computer to its original settings if you wish to delete the program.

Yes it seems to do a good job.
I knew there was some kind of memory restrictions in older games but I didn't knew such programs existed.
As far as I read, it only changes one byte in the executable header to make it LAA.
I'm really baffled, not only that it works, but also that UBI didn't think to toggle that byte by default. (given the long list of crash reports on official forums and no solution given)


As for the item glitch, is it something other users experience as well ?

The issue with set artifacts, cannot be memory related.

In any case this fix is fantastic! My CTDs with loading saves on XL maps are gone. This allows for much smoother XL map experience.

Maybe changing the byte causes issues on older machines, I think I should release an additional exe for MMH5.5 with this fix, to make sure people use identical exe files for multiplayer.

Well, the item glitch is only helpful, not detrimental. But it is cheating :
I currently have 2 dragon items equipped and it counts it as 8, so I get a free creature everyday

This glitch seems to occur randomly, but I need to have equipped the corresponding set item once. Sometimes, as I remove the set piece, it still counts the bonus as ON, even if I reload the save.
It's not dramatic, as I benefit of this glitch, but it sure is weird

As for the LAA app, it is fantastic indeed ! I will try it on other games too.

Back on topic :
I noticed the AI has less tendency to make use of the teleport spell (adventure map), leading to easy victories in my opinion. (unlike the default AI, that used this feature very aggressively to cross over my boundaries, which I liked )

I currently play on hard difficulty. Do I need to play on even harder difficulty for this to happen again ?

I have been trying to reproduce your  bug with 31j+3.1 patch installed, but the dragon set worked fine for both old and new hero classes for me.

Instant Travel was a disaster for the AI turn speed, you really don't want that one back!

I didn't know that was causing the horrendously long AI turns which I definitely don't miss. (although I miss this aggressive gameplay)
I'll experiment higher difficulties though.

As for the item bug I have, I'll try to reinstall at some point and see how it goes (3.1+31j as well)


EDIT: I don't necessarily miss the TP, but It feels that the AI is almost always playing defensively (even though it's set on "aggressive") on random generated maps.
At no point during my games did an AI cross my original boundaries.
They did however try to retake what was taken from them.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact the AI doesn't cheat anymore and that I put very hard monsters in my games ?
I also run a pretty OP combo : nathir with armageddon & magnetic golem and jhora that gets the rest of the army.
Combo which effectively gives me a ton of firepower to steamroll anything.

Anyhow enough criticism ! The AI patch made the game a 100x better than the original one and I'm very thankful for that

That is 100% the cause of your issue. the AI takes too many losses in Quick-Combat vs these stacks. In my new mod I have fixed this issue with map scripts.

I don't know if the person modding the AI will receive this (and with the EE forum now offline this is the only place to voice my observations), but here are some notes on the AI.

There was some mention upthread about how the beta AI is often too passive.  This is a tricky thing to be coding for-the decision to invade and attack another faction has be something carefully thought out: you have to consider whether anybody else is messing with you, whether you have sufficient troops left behind to combat any minor hit and run raids (balanced against whether you can afford to lose them if they aren't on your main), whether your main is tough enough, whether he and his army matches up well against the intended target, whether you think you can win with minimal casualties, whether you have too many unbought "future" troops in your towns that you might lose if taken over...the list goes on.

I just find the beta AI to be too passive-all too often it will just wander around in its own territory the entire game, letting secondary heroes do any invading.  And if someone does invade him, there is this weird "dance" where both mains will utterly ignore each other's existence, taking and retaking towns without ever attacking each other, even when the chance of winning with few losses seems to be very high for one of them.  In the endgame you then have all of these uberheroes with huge armies running around, which you as the human player have to all defeat to win.

This often seems to be the biggest issue on larger maps-I guess their lookahead isn't enough to get them moving towards distant targets...

Other concerns:

Ensuring that a good build of skills is made.  All too often I fight an enemy hero who seems to have NO magic skills at all, which makes for a very easy battle.

Visiting any and all vital buildings-examples of places they never seem to go to include artifact merchants, magi huts (often intended to deshroud vital locations like cities, which they then never visit or take), lighthouses, or obelisks (or grail digs).

Creature priority-if finances are tight seems like they build from the bottom up, buying out all L1's before L2's, etc., thus leaving a lot of their (usually vital and more durable) L7's completely unbought.

I'm also not sure if they trade in resources for gold as things progress onto the endgame-seems like my armies get much more powerful by then.

[I would thus like to see the rush bonus potentially extended to infinity, i.e. for the entire game, along with another separate slider to specifically tweak bonus troop growth upwards...]

The issues you raised, along with many others, are what the 3.2 release is aiming to solve. I'm not involved with the actual programming, but I know the overall goal is to have the AI make "intelligent" decisions in order to more closely replicate a human player.

I noticed it too. I usualy collect Lion's Spirit and then I remove helmet to add something else and the emapthy is still working. moral and luck +2 from lion crown doesnt but the effect of the 3item  set is still on.

Yeah. Last game was ridiculous. Just for fun, I had a shared dragon set amongst 4 players, meaning 4 level 7 creatures / day
The main hero had the bowman set + lion + dragon + XP set full bonus.
I never noticed this bug in vanilla I think it might be exclusive to the mod.

Also, I had several random crashes (less than 10 for an impossible map with underground / no water) on combat, in AI turns, and on the map (never when loading saves though) and I was always able to reload a save and to complete the game.
The crashes didn't repeat themselves and I didn't find a pattern.

About the crashes, I only used to have them on my ssd when loading game. It seems the game would load to fast and then crash. Now I have reinstalled it on my hdd and it seems to work fine. Its been 3 days already, no crashes.

Must be another reason as a game can't load 'too fast' from a SSD. Perhaps the SSD is faulty, make a SMART test.

Just to say I really like this mod, can't wait for the next update.

Question: I don't think it's related to the mod, but maybe the mod can fix this: Vermin cannot use their ability if not accompanied by a hero with gating skill (in the latter case, the ability icon turns into a spellbook with gating and the mana drain ability, and that works). Any idea?
