No, but there was a demand for them not to change. I want them renamed back to Morale and Luck.

What no you did not just say that you think six instances of semi-naked femanoids, shrimp-looking Cerberi with only two heads and sparkly Sephinroth-Arthases are good creature designs?!

Well, except that the 2 heads of the Cerberi have not much to do with the quality of the graphics and the fact the game is looking great I agree that I'm not fond of 2-headed Cerberi and Arthas-like Vampire, but that only shows how uninspired the artist was (or maybe how basic the expectation from Ubi were), but you can't say H6 has bad graphics just because of that

Seems really unnecessary.

One thing I view as a missed opportunity is item descriptions.  I always thought they added a nice touch to the game.

I don't mind it as much as the Might/Magic Power/Defense deal.
Whats wrong with Attack/Defense/Intelligence/Resistance or something along those lines?
Not to mention Might and Magic stats both have the same icon, just a different color.

Yeah, of the three mentioned in the quote (design, animation, graphics) my post was about the design, I should've specified that.
I tend to favor great design over great graphics, which is why I prefer Gothic 2 over Gothic 3, Morrowind over Oblivion, etc.

EDIT: My only problem with the animation is that the creatures don't stagger when they're hit.
They just retaliate right away.

Yes I did say that. I really like the designs of most units. Not so keen on cerberi or the practice of creature cloning (blazing glory is cool, glory plus light elemental is awful) but apart from that I'm very impressed. I even like the vampires a lot after seeing them in action.

As for semi-naked feminoids, they're much more restrained than H5 and there are more than enough semi-naked masculoids to balance them if you're foaming at the mouth about gender equality in fantasy games.

Here are some annoying bugs i found:
1- Sometimes when i start a new map the screen moves all the way to the right, and i have to restart to fix it
2- I have to watch my opponent fight in the arena, fighting phoenixes,and fight against forts
3- When a mauler attacks twice against a unit that can't retaliate, the animation of the first attack cuts off half way through the animation and goes to the second attack animation
4- Flying units don't fly over fort/city walls they simply go straight through the walls
5- Cheating is too noticeable on normal difficulty with the AI
these are just off top of my head, i'm sure their is more that i will post later

After finaly getting my client to work, I noticed several things.
and I'm pretty sure that some of these have been said before, but some are so glaring that a second time cannot hurt.
1. the water effect are buggy and look like they're giving off light.
2. In the introductory cutscene of the tutorial, some scentences get cut off near the final two words. I've watched it 3 times now and it happens every time, though never with the same sentences.
3. In the Prologue map, my map froze on me twice. Meaning that I cannot move the map. That is unless I'm actually dragging it along the minimap.
4. The skeleton seems to have a movement slowing attack, though I'm pretty sure that's reserved for the upgrade.
5. Also I cannot check the hero's bio's and specials in the hall of heroes in the Prologue.
But, beta is beta and I never expected to play a bug-free game.
I've reported this to Ubi as wel.

Rush Now Think Later ?!

Problem:
Orcs have probably the best lineup for ranged combat...
goblings.. ranged and trap for keeping enemies at range
centaur.. one of the best ranged creatures in game
cyclops (raged) - ranged
harpies - no retal makes them like being ranged with a maximum range
shaman - spell further slows enemies down
other 2 units - smash the few enemies that do come near
the only faction that comes close is Necro, with 3 ranged creatures.

Partial Solution:
One important step to actually make orcs be a true might faction would be to make the Centaurs do HALF damage. This way the special ability "move and attack" would also make more sense, as centaurs would move forward to do full damage, truly rushing forward. Also having no ranged creature doing full damage, orcs might actually have some incentive to rush..........

Hey guys,
about the graphics, it is quite strange, my friends computer on which we played the game is a professional monster for 3d architect design and really the graphics are awful, he gave me the game and his account to check it on my business laptop (ye, I am a bit older than the majority here ) and there is a huge difference. I don't know what his machine specs are but on my laptop runs the game with excellent graphics and sound.

HP Pavillion Dvd6 Notebook PC
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M430@ 2.27 GHZ
RAM 4 GB
Windows 7 - 64 bit
It has a separate video card, I think its NVidia something, the laptop is bought 2 years ago...

I got the the 5.8 note from HP which is just much over the average performance note I can get (the notes are between 2.9 - 6.5, where the last is excellent performance).

I don't want to enter a defensive mode because it is not needed, of course if this game could be improved, lets do it, but my first impression was not very good and this topic is just to share our impressions.

About the random skill - I don't mean they are randomly given, but that the skills are randomly picked by the devs just for the sake of some skills to be present in the different schools. And the three- level skill system is over simplistic. Now the only thing to balance some skills like life drain and bloodlust (in some degree they have to be nerved but not so much as everyone feels) is to give a very small bonus with them. If the skill system was like in H5 you can create 2,3 even 4 skill like prerequisites for the strongest one and just nerf them a little bit, but now you have to make life drain or bloodlust with the same power as scouting (since it is rank 1) or logistics.

Scouting could be buffed little bit like to give the archers +1 range (which means half range + one more tile, or for 7 tiles you have full range damage).

About the Heroes 3 testing - it was about the new ideas, not the graphic engine. At the beginning h5 had much more eye candies than the previous games but I didn't like it at all, actually I bought the game after Tribes of the East came out and I played once all campaigns and then only MP or Single Player from time to time.

And a personal note to Edwin (Edit:Elvin ), just from observing and reading what he has to say - in H5 period Jolly Joker was so stuck with the idea to defend H5 even on its early stage that it was ridiculous and out of any balance behaviour which led me to ignore him. I don't think that dealing with the things we say here should lead to ego remarks and flaming to several users here as well. I know that he wants this game to have a success, me too, but this is not the way, lets allow this forums to be a free space and everyone to feel comfortable. These are just few words from my heart to share.

Can you elaborate on this comment a little further? Has Edwin (Elvin?) used ego remarks or flaming at some point here?

This may be a problem. If he's having professional monster then he's having professional graphic card - like Nvidia Quadro or ATI FirePro - and these are having completely different drivers and different architecture as well. So no gaming cards, not gaming experience guaranteed.

Is it possible for the Enraged Cyclops to attack the wall if it can shoot? I can't seem to be able to hit the wall, maybe it needs to be next to an enemy so it can use melee?

Also Necropolis unique building "Wastling Grounds" does not work.

To my knowledge, the computer flees at one of two points:  At the very start of combat, if your army is significantly bigger than theirs; or not at all.

Honestly, it seems like the computer makes a decision at the beginning of combat to run away, and if it doesn't, then it stays until the bitter end.

I could be wrong, though.  Has anyone else experienced this?
