I'm Leaving
Yes, I am leaving. No, this thread is not for any attention seeking or any nonsense like that. I've been here for a while. I've gained a lot of friends from here and I feel that I should let the community I have been with for several years at least know where I am going instead of just vanishing without telling anybody like others have done before.
There are a few reasons as to why I am leaving which I will highlight below:
Firstly, I have been here since 2006. While that may not be a long time to some, it is for me. That's not why I am leaving though. I feel that since 2006, I have said all that can be said for me. The community is evolving and I don't feel I can catch up. Gone are the days where I could just go into the OSM and discuss topics and enjoy it. Now it's pretty much dominated by a select few people who only want to derail threads and insult each other like children. I feel that all I could have said has been said. I don't feel I can make any new posts or topics that can really stand out and help the community go forward. There's only two things I can really talk about: Sports and Music and I've pretty much exhausted the music discussion and the sports that I like are Australian and I have nobody to talk about them with.
Which brings me to my second reason. I have recently joined an AFL forum which is 10 times more active than this. AFL is my favourite sport and a topic which I can talk about with people for hours. Problem is that I live in an area where AFL isn't that popular and therefore I can't talk about it with many people. Therefore it's nice that I can go on a forum and be accepted for a sport which I like and I can talk about it endlessly with people. I feel that this new forum is a fresh start for me and I'm really enjoying it. I've only really been there for a few days (since July 21st) but I feel as if I belong already. I can talk about one of my favourite subjects without people telling me that I need to shut up or people not understanding what I'm talking about. Simply, I have more in common with that forum than with this forum.
I just don't feel I belong here anymore. I have gone through a lot here but I do feel it's time to step aside and let the newer members help this forum to evolve. The kind of person that I am doesn't gel well with many people here and I often find myself fighting with people. I don't go on the internet to fight with people and I don't necessarily like it no matter how much I do love arguing. It wastes my time as well as other peoples so I am sure it'd be beneficial if I were to go. I just don't feel I have anything to add here anymore.
In saying all this, it's not a permanent leave or anything, I just won't be active for a very long time most likely. I might pop in every now and then and let people know how I'm doing, but I won't be actively posting anymore.
Thanks for the few years I had with you all. I've made a lot of good friends and a few great friends. You know who you are.

Hey, just want to tell you: We may have argued a few times and never really seen eye to eye, but I always liked reading your posts.
Except the ones where you were pissed off.
