Game of Thrones has lost its edge. Starting season 5, I could tell who was going to die and who wasn't with 100 % accuracy.

True, but that's the common misconception people fell into that Game of Thrones is super hard core where your fav character might die any minute. Which is not true, Game of Thrones was rigged from the start .

Agreed.

Game of Thrones S06E09 Spoilers:

The last episode was really well made, the scenes were amazingly shot, the sound was top notch and Jon and his gang were badass.
But in the end I found that the entire episode's writing left A LOT to be desired, and this goes for the whole of season 6 as well as season 5.
I don't want to be too critical but I feel like what used to make GoT truly great was that it stayed away from cliches, fan service, one-dimensional characters and bad shock value.
This last season has been filled with them, in my opinion.

Maybe I'm just sad that GoT's biggest villain lately have been Ramsey. A character I absolutely hate, not because he is mean and cruel, but because he is extremely one-dimensional and his evilness are just a cheap way to produce shock value. He's a minor villain that has been given way too much screen time for far too long. In my honest opinion Ramsey Bolton is as interesting as a brick, and has the character development of a potato. Even his goddamn death was a cliche fan service.

Edit: Btw, is this the best place to be talking about this. DOn't we have a GoT thread around somewhere?

Well, one is that you know to suspect that characters will die fairly often already. Maybe they where the weakest turtles in Martins home. The favourite turtles like Tyrion will never die obviously.

Liked the episode overall, as well as the season insofar.

Episode 10 of GoT Season 6 was the most satisfying episode I've watched in these series. Period.

I don't care if it was cliched or whatever you call it. Kings Landing "segment" (from start to finish, counting the torture chamber scene), Dany and Tyrion scene, Jons council scene and finally Arya scene (because of this whole fast forwarding I was completly cought off guard, but I can tell with whole sincerity now - she's a badass). Haunting music. And so many strong dialogues. Plus fans got their answer for THE question.

Glorious. This season started off bad, but the last two episodes were some of the best ones I've seen when it comes to TV series...

The only thing that saddens me: with so many fav characters finally clashing things will get really heartbreaking...

My thoughts EXACTLY. Last 2 episodes were so good it skyrocketed the show back to it's former glory in my eyes

Started watching The Royals, about the drama of some fantasy british royal family. It's so cheesy and cosmopolitan it makes me sick, but for some bloody reason I keep on watching. Must be a masochist or something.

The Flash is a kind of crappy show,  but not enough to make me stop watching it. The Reverse Flash and the cute main actress I think are enough to keep me going.

The 98% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes confuses me. I don't understand what they are seeing in it that I don't. The actors I suppose are fine and the premise of the show is fine,  but the script is on the tacky side and it so far has a very repetetive pattern from episode to episode. Maybe all of the critics were in their teens and twenties in the 80s and have Flash nostalgia.

I watched a partial bit of GoT. I think it was the first 20 minutes of episode 1, season 1. Where they find some puppies.

I didn't get into it but it seems to be all the rave. Maybe I should try it out again??

Anyways I am into walking dead. Just finished season 1-5 (on ebay for less than 40$ by the way).

That's eactly my point of view on every superhero TV series that I tried to watch. Always finished after first episode. Flash, Legends of Tommorow, Arrow, Smallville, Daredevil etc. I just can't stand the shoddiness of these shows, each one of them looks like Power Rangers in my eyes... not much better then all those fan-made flicks which seem to impress people oh so much (well, not me). I'm your typical "pocorn" movie goer so it's probably all about the budget in my case

It's hard to put a finger on it,  but the show is so full of bull**** with the way people talk.

Old professor : "I thought millennials didn't read books"
Flash: *instant response* "I'm the only one"

Date: "so you haven't been snatched up yet. What's wrong with you anyway? "
Flash:" Uhh..  I've been busy"

Who the hell speaks to people that way? They're suppose to be highly successful professionals in their upper 20s and they talk like a bunch of asswipes.  The last time a girl spoke to me that way I was probably at a 7th grade dance. I can't allow myself to become immersed in the show when the dialogue is constantly unrealistically calloused or tacky. This is why Next Generation was such a great show because you can immerse yourself like an invisible eye into the show,  like slipping into a warm bath. These superhero shows have so much complete bull**** in the script that just as soon as I start to get immersed,  somebody says or does something tacky that splashes me with cold water and jolts me back into reality. If they just went back and edited out all of the remarks that attempt to be witty,  the quality of the show would double.

*Sigh* It's not supposed to be "real". The setting isn't real either, not with DC stuff anyway. Neither Gotham nor Starling are existing cities and the whole frame for everything is wrong. 60s cars 20's and 30's architecture, current technology (and better). It's a parallel universe or whatever, but it's not ours.

One completely unrealistic aspect is that so many characters have a second identity (or develop one). Every meaningful character has some sort of secret, so no matter how a dialogue goes, if the characters involved are regulars you have a high probability for a surprise being due.

It's COMICS. Not a drama.

Apparently,  part of not being real is that the entire human race takes on an alternate reality in social conventions. Conversation is replaced with stupid lines.

Looks like the talent in the industry isnt going into comics and they get the sloppy seconds. I guess that's fair enough.

I remember the initial episodes were pretty stupid but I grew to like the series The show probably ended up like that as contrast to the more gloomy arrow but it ended up working fine. The cast can be socially awkward and silly at times but pretty likable overall.

As a comic I found Flash extremely boring, which means I don't watch the show. Arrow ain't bad, and as I said Gotham season 1 is, well, iconic, and I love it. It's like Heroes 2.

Arrow has steadily declined for a while now. Certainly watchable but it keeps getting more and more ridiculous. I miss Constantine to be honest. Even in that arrow crossover he was great, he should appear more often.

I can't concentrate when watching Chronicles of Shannara because as soon  as the druid shows up I think "CRIXUS" and then I revert into Spartacus mode. Plus Gimli is an elf king now. So confusing.
