The rope that Raistlin had thrown, caught Tanis full in the face.  However, she caught it (despite the whack) and holding on, she hooked it around her arm and ran towards Raistlin and the group (the rope's full circle).

Aleron's illusions seemed to be working and his Shout spell confused them enough to leave them unfocussed so that they took no notice of the tiny Drow and the tightening rope herding them.

Slowly, the group eliminates all the magma creatures.  They hear a bit of laughter.  "Very good.  We are impressed.  However, now what are you going to do about us?" About 12 people emerge from the forest.  They had let the group exhaust themselves, any spells they might have had ((the problem with casting endless spells )).

Chances are not all are druids, and even fewer can cast necromancy spells, but the group is at a distinct disadvantage in a forest setting.  "Lay down your weapons, and surrender..and you might get out of this alive."

Raistlin wasn't out of spells. Not hardly. But he didn't really have any weapons per say... with a little "Eep!" and a muttered invisibility spell, Raistlin disappeared and moved a little way from the group.

Kerym was glad he did his best to reserve the majority of his spells. He had gone through the battle with only casting the one spiritual weapon, which had done its job just fine, attacking the cooled-down molten creatures.

As Raistlin began casting, so did Kerym. At the spell's conclusion, a celestial-style creature appeared. An eagle, to be exact. It took flight, ready to strike at the party's enemies. Kerym also prepared to do the same.

Ivor flung his sword at the approaching monks; impaling one of them, before the party had time to react. As soon as one fo them fell they all began to fight.

(he would either die fighting or be captured at the end of his strength, but not while he held a blade and was capable of doing battle)

Tanis was just thankful someone else took the initiative to attack.  Ivor's pre-emptive strike caused mass panic in the enemy.  Tanis sprung at the nearest to her.  She took him completely by surprise, her dagger sinking deep between his ribs, slicing towards his stomach.  He howled in pain and shock.  Her attack so fast, he had no time to defend himself before she viciously stabbed his throat, slicing as deep as she could.

Funny thing about projectiles. They have this sharp bit at the end of them that causes much bleeding if they stab the right place... or if shot from a bloody crossbow. A druid on the fringe found out the stabbing part when a bolt impaled the back of his skull and one of the warriors was shot by the crossbow under his arm, scraping his ribs and puncturing his chest ever so slightly.

Of course, this just added to the chaos, as Raistlin had no real melee weapon to use and wasn't the most physically impressive specimen anyway... No real deadly power after the initial strike in such close quarters (Unless you count magic missile. ) He still has 5 images to protect him though.

Aleron considered a distraction in the form of ghostly voices and a quick illusion or two, or possibly trying to negotiate with discreet use of Charm Person, but the renewal of hostilities put paid to either idea. Considering his more limited options, he threw Web around the hostile parties and prepared to set fire to the magical spiderwebs if the spell alone didn’t seem to assist his allies sufficiently.

At first the group does surprisingly well, dispatching half the enemy in short order.  The wind picks up suddenly, and they hear chanting.  The very ground under them suddenly turns against them, bucking and heaving, preventing any spell casting and knocking people to the ground

Your attackers suddenly break off the attack and run, not walk, away from where the group is standing.  A crack forms in the ground, and at first the arcane casters believe it is an earthquake spell..until a huge stone hand thrusts from the ground.  Then another..

Before anything can be done, the group is wrapped up in vines, from everywhere.  Helpless they watch as a huge stone behemoth emerges from the crack.

((Note: Anybody invisible is still free..the creature is about 20' tall..and reaching it's back..if it has one..would be difficult))

The creature lumbers straight for McCade, who is helplessly bound by the entangling vines.  Just as the beast raises it's fist for the final blow there is the sound of a wave crashing against rock, and a much smaller creature made of water crashes against the rock beast making it miss it's target.

"Ashak ner tarac!" Echoes a voice, and the vines writhe as if in pain..then release the group..rapidly withdrawing.  A young woman, adorned in deer hide and carrying a quarterstaff emerges from the forest.  Her staff seems to be pointed at the water creature as if directing it's movements.

Another voice, filled with poison and making everybody feel slimy calls out "You DARE come here?  This is the seat of my power, and you are no match for me in the best of circumstances." In a swirl of leaves, with a foul stench, appears a man who is decaying himself, half of his face a skeleton.  The other half of his face is dry and stretched almost mummy like.

Turning to the group.  "I will buy you time, flee..he is right.  We are no match against a high druid in his own forest.  Especially not this one.  Go!  Tell the elder druids what you have seen here they will know how you are to stop him!"

As she is distracted the rocky creature has lumbered closer and closer to her, ready to strike.  With a bezerker yell McCade leaps and strikes it with his sword..doing very little damage, but definitely getting its attention.  "WE will buy you time." He looks at the group.  "GO, find help, return to avenge the kingdom."

Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, Raistlin is willing to follow their orders. Running quickly was his specialty not... Damnit! The drow was a wizard, and wizards aren't known for their ability to run... Dropping out of invisibility Raistlin tapped Tanis's shoulder. "We need to go, follow me or let me carry you, but we have to run!"

That being the extent of Raistlin's willingness to help her, he begins running along a slightly complicated path that hide their tracks from those who would pursue them. He made sure that Tanis could keep up, followed and actually will go back and pick her up if needed. She couldn't have that many spells left...

Raistlin literally dragged Tanis back to the forest.  She was aware of the others running through the trees around her.

"Who the hell runs away from foliage!!!", she shouted at no-one in particular.

"Uh, we aren't running away from foliage!" Raistlin yelled back, "We're running from that thing, and whatever summoned it!" He pointed at the giant elemental, who they could still see the top of, and the massive surges of arcane energies. "Now are we going to argue with that, or are we going to live to fight another day?"

The running away and leaving McCade had been infuriating enough ... but Raistlin's sarcasm rankled the highly strung Sorceror even more, especially as he was probably right.

As Tanis chased the rogue through the forest, she berated herself silently for training in the Arcane arts of Water and Ice, rather than Acid or Fire ..... and she amused herself by envisioning Raistlin's behind being hit by flame strikes, enough to make her break out into a smile.

Taking the smile for acceptance and suppressing a shudder when he looked at her, Raistlin began leading them out, this time with her hopefully following more willingly than before. He didn't know how they were going to find the others after this, not with them running out at random as they had, but hopefully he and Tanis could find them... at least, hopefully they could find someone to vouch for them. Otherwise, villagers in the next town they came to would likely try to "Burn the drow witch" and "Hang her thrice accursed ally."

But for right now, he led Tanis through some of the harder to track areas and moved swiftly into the forest. The promise of vengeance against these monsters still held true, but it must come later. Hopefully the girl recognized that fact and wasn't plotting to kill him before the villagers could get their chance... for some reason, Raistlin felt vaguely warmer than usual and felt like someone was raking him slowly over hot coals...

The terrain they were covering was at times a little treacherous.   However, Tanis kept up with the lithe Rogue.  She had spotted Ivor and the others darting through the trees a little way behind them.

What started going through her mind was what the village elders and druids would say and whether or not they would or could help them.  Not to mention what the hell was currently happening to McCade.

After about two hours, Raistlin slows to a walk. "Alright, the road should be on our right. We should get there and try to re-group with the others along it... I'm not sure if anyone was actually following us or if they were just running at random. Let's hope that they didn't, because if they did then..." A wolf howled off in the distance, "it will be easier for them to hunt all of us down." Shaking his head, Raistlin muttered, "I hate bloody druids... Would you like to lead?"

"You're doing fine", Tanis answered.  She had no intention of leading.  "I could however, do with a few minutes to gather some of these berries", she indicated to a heavily laden shrub bursting with small black and red berries.  "If we encounter some resistence in the village, these will help me put people in their place".

"Are we walking through the night or what?", she asked.

"Let's see, sleep in a tree or walk? If we sleep in the tree tonight, there is a rather good chance that we will be surrounded by wolves come morning... so I suggest walking. Aye?" He glared at the berries disdainfully, "And you won't need those. Your hood, a few bandages for your hands and face and, if needed, a few lengths of rope will do the trick. A disguise is preferable to... whatever those things do." Oh gods, he really hoped the woman didn't kill someone because they became a nuisance... "Let's go. We are going to need to cover a good bit of ground before resting tomorrow morning."

"Fine", replied Tanis dryly.  Ignoring Raistlin's disdain, she collected her berries.  She also ignored Raistlin waiting impatiently for her to finish.

Once she had collected what she wanted, she walked back to Raistlin.  Just before the agitated Rogue turned to walk off, she said, "and I won't be going in disguise either.  They will do what I tell them".

He wanted to yell, wanted to make her see... but that would never win the drow over to his side. Cold Logic was needed... if he could muster any after today. "What do you think will happen to a drow who gives orders to a surface dweller?" Surprisingly, his voice was rather even. "At the least they will brush you off, try to rough you up. At worst, they will burn you at the stake. McCade isn't here to protect or vouch for you anymore. And me? I'm a thief and a spell caster at that. If you hang, I hang with you." Raistlin turned his back to her, "We need to work together if we are going to see him avenged. Please, let me try my way before we try yours." He began walking away. He hoped that she would follow, despite his distrust, his misgivings. Neither of them could avenge McCade alone...
