Okay, now I have too many questions regarding lich-to-ghoul transformations, how Sandro was able to trick the namtarus into drinking their venom, and why an otherwise levelheaded character would resort to petty revenge instead of killing off a potentially dangerous enemy,
but I figure that at this point I should just buy their book if I care that much.

Editted
Sandro did not need to trick Namtaru into giving up their venom never drank Namtaru Venom, he became a "Lich" by toying with the Void in an experiment that nearly killed him. For a long time, Sandro was a member of the Spider Cult and as Beleth's Student during the Discovery of Necromancy, he may have been the second undead upon the world. However, Sandro was never wrapped up into the worship of Asha. For him undeath was just a path to immortality and a means to discover the secrets of the Void.
Why kill an enemy if you can turn him into a perfectly obedient warhound. Ghouls have little free will, the only thing they desire is to kill living creatures. Necromancers can override what little will Ghouls have, turning them, just like many other undead things, into their minions. As a Ghoul, Merrikh stops being a threat and becomes an asset.

From HVI it seems that both Faceless and Angels didn't leave in Shantiri Empire. Angels lived in their skycities (which many fall on Ashan during wars with demons and later durin Elder Wars), when Faceless lived under Ashan surface (in Abyss) in their temples.
Shantiri worshiped all elemental dragons but according to Dance Macabre it was human who was High Priest of Malassa temple.
Also, there was mentioned few times that Shantiri was caught between Angels and Faceless war and destroyed in process (Compednium indicated that was because powerful magic used by Angels and Faceless against themselves).

Maybe not globe-spanning as it was located on Southern shores of Thallan and on many islands on Jade Ocean (ruins in Heresh are from Shantiri Empire). If I understood correctly, only Heresh and maybe Seven Cities (and Naga Islands of course) are located on lands of former Shantiri Empire.

Nope, the Compendium clearly states that the Shantiri Empire was spread over the Globe. It also states that all of the Elder Races were part of it. Therefor we may infer that the Angelic Sky Cities and the Faceless Abyss were part of the Shantiri Empire. Nowhere was it said that they all lived in the exact same place. Just that they were all part of it.
That a Human was High Priest of Malassa during the Elder Wars is merely a Curiosity, not an indication that the Faceless fell overboard.

1. Beasmen were created ca. 370 YSS but as we know Sharkmen and Mermaids were created later (512 YSS). There was explenaton, that not all Beastmen were created at the same time and it's OKfor me. Is there some kind of list in Compendium, which explain what kind of Beastmen were created at this or that year?

The Compendium states that all Beastmen were created between 340-350 YSD. And that those that were not given away, Sharkmen and the majority of Minotaurs, over half species allied with the Orcs during the Orc Rebellions of 467-470 YSD. Therefore, I consider the creation date of 512 YSD to be retconned.

Quote:
2. From what I saw, Ashan Compendium has only time-line from year 0 YSS, so there is no word about what really happened earlier, how Shantiri Empire was created after Wars of Creations and so on?

Yes, in the several pages before that [7-12]. Are you reading a different compendium?

Quote:
3. In chapters about dragons, is there a text about which one comes first etc.? Erwan said in which order they were hatched (as you maybe remember, Ylath is the youngest, even if each elemental dragons were hatched in pairs) but I am curious if it is the same order as in Compendium?

No talk of the comparative age of the Elemental Dragons, other than that Ylath is the youngest.

Quote:
4. Also, I am curious about is there a text in Compendium about what race was doing after their creation?

No. Nothing other than which side each races was on during what war.

If I had Compendium at all.
Reading these few scans is not easy and reading from Compendium movie presentation which shows page by page it content is not possible at all. It shows only in general what is in chapters.

OK - I thought Erwan briefing also will be in Compendium.
Anyway he said it was: Malassa (created sky and darkness), Elrath (created starts and light), Arkath (created fire balls which later turned in planets), Sylanna (created earth which covered fireballs), Shalassa (water, rain, rivers, etc.) and Ylath (air).

Thanks

Just to clarify, when Jeff entered the team the world has been mostly scripted already. It was created by Richard Dansky and Erwan, though as it is a really huge project, I suppose Erwan doesn't necessarily have to remember each detail, so he might make mistakes, especially as when the world grows, some facts get retconned as you've mentioned already.

Admittedly, it's possible. Yet it needn't necessarily be the case, seduction can take many forms. Sexual seduction is not the only form of seduction. Though if it is true, one could come, by the same scources, to the conclusion that homo- or bisexuality is rather rampant among Bull Nobility.

ovidio likes orgies, giovanni "wasn't above seducing ovidio" knock knock
still i'm more concerned that sheltem is an "android" instead of a magical being, than ovidio's sexcapades

I'm interested in the lore behind Ashan's Sandro and Crag Hack. However, I'm sorry, but the DLC Adventure Packs, to me, are just not worth buying. If it's not too much trouble, would someone be willing to summarize the campaigns of Danse Macabre and Pirates of the Savage Sea?

Well, the Bull Duchy is Italia after all, like, y'know the land of the Romans. It fits.

It's funny that they end up as necromancers afterwards

Reposting this from the Expansion thread:

I'm interested in knowing how liches surpasses vampires in H5,
why glories and sisters get replaced with clerics and peasants
and why two of the inferno units in H6 look like balrogs
and why the cerberi grew an extra head since then.

Actually, Actually, I'm more interested in knowing how liches surpasses vampires in H5, why glories and sisters get replaced with clerics and peasants and why two of the inferno units in H6 look like balrogs and why the cerberi grew an extra head since then.

I won't start on the Lich side, it would be to much of a speculation.

But generally I recall (I think Elvin poited this out as a reaction to this comic :http://static9.cdn.ubi.com/en-GB/images/strip%20heroes%20M%26M%2002%20txt%20EN_smalltcm2113521.jpg)the world of Ashan actually has this "Age of fading" syndrom where magic becomas rare and technology inferior. The ancient Shantari civilization was rather advanced but its fall brought the "Drak age" where all slowly fades away. This can be seen on the resource evolution. How at the time of heroes VI, there are the blood crystals everywhere, but later they become rare and need to be subsituted. This also applies for units. Desprit times need desprit acts, so when there are not enougth soldiers to fight a militia is called. When there is not enought free magic for the Glories to exist they can not actively help them and the Sister/priest swap is just a gender game.

As for the Cerbery. Isn't Sheog and inferno a Chaos based faction/world? Why could a cerberos not mutate into a three-headed creature. Hell, Now the Hell hound/cerberus atleast have the same number of heads, and not more that came out of nowhere. And I even think Lohrish and his breeding might have somethig to do with this.

As for The rest of inferno, a designe choice. The same why do haven units have such unneeded armor decorations.

But those are only my opinions. I hope that there will be more of them to help us create a better image.

I agree with Dave_Jame on the points raised by Avirosb.
Yes, the reason for the Cerberi-Hellhound head issue has likely to do with the mutations of Chaos. Skulls for the Skullthrone!
The lack of Glories, the introduction of Peasant Militia, the greater influence and power of the Religious is likely due to the rise-and-fall cycle of civilisations.
The Balrog resemblance of Demons is likely nothing more than an easthetic choice.
However, where everything raise and the Lich-Vampire problem in particular, stems from, I think, is the early development processes when Ubisoft took over. Let me stress again that this is what I think to be, but is still speculation on my part.
As Erwan stated in the Interview over on Behemoth Lair, many retcons that were due, were caused by the fact that Nival developed the game faster than the guidelines were being created. Because the idea was not fully formed at the time, I think Nival simply copied the tier-difference of Heroes 3, the best reference point they had and ran with it.

Did you ever seen Ghost Rider in movies or comic books?

It is simple - Nival copied units line-up from HoMM3, that is why Wampires are lover then Liches in HV.
As for lore - it was stated during HV development, that Necromancers need to be Lich first, to become Vampires, so lore didn't changed or has been retconned. See Lich's card from Dark Messiah.
