It would be possible if someone would do a plugin to support Werd language. Until someone would volounteer one porting MoP is impossible, hence most of MoP scripts are Werd scripts. Werd is weird and in Era all the people use ERM and/or write a plugin as dll, so it won't happen soon. Doing a plugin which is more than one ERM script replacement is hard due to Reverse Engineering reasons. Even doing an Python Language Handler while python universal interpreter is already ready and ERA plugin API exports all ERM events is not trivial despite not developing any new scanned memory adress (Yeah I promised one with Python hence most work is done and I would be working for icing on the cake - but I have some health problems, so my excuse is "sorry, it would be later"). Hence nobody yet implemented any Python (or any another language with universal OSS interpreter) support plugin I won't suppose that there would be Werd support anytime if nobody but MoP (the person) would volounteer hence Werd language iseven more weirdo than ERM.

Don't forget that separate from Werd the MoP mod uses custom exe with differences in a way similair to changes from Heroes3.exe to h3wog.exe (integrated code with assembler hacks, so no separate dlls like era nor simple integrated memory patches like NU) and guess what - MoP has one long ERM script full of UN:C which should be rewritten to fit ERA. Even with Werd support nobody but MoP would get MoP back to ERA.

It is inredible how much time Majaczek wastes on writting theoretical investigations about weird modding possibilities, without writting or making even a single piece of mod.

I am on forum to talk, and I am trying to do some mods in home. But it is really true my mods are either petty, unfinished or unreleased. At least for Heroes3 modding (for gothic2 I am leader of big project which is going to finish soon). It seems I have too small time left for the projects of heroes3 in my timeplan as it is realised (Yeah I prefer much more to mod than wasting my times on even more petty thingies than my released mods for Heroes3 but reality is cruel to me more than I want).

It is even worse because despite having Summer Holidays on my University, I am at hospital. So I prefer to play a bit with friends now (if any friends are near) and chatter via internet than actually doing a mod NOW. Which is a shame for my self-planning skills as I planned to focus most on H3WoG and H3ERA modding during this Summer Holidays because I had too little time in the semester. I am happy that my team-planning skills are definately better as I was able to lead team of newbies in Gothic2 modding terms to realising of brave project (Translating about 20 milion lines of G2 script which were mostly dialogue text from russian to one of latin-character-alfabet language).

In the gothic2 project I was mostly a leader and a technician, but despite not finished studies on university I am not so bad self-learned programmist (I started as 7-year old on my parents 8bit PC, but then I was more playing with Basic than actually fairly studying programming). As gaming always was close with my heart, I always wanted to do some modding... on scripter side because programming always were fun for me but not always easy. I'm good enough to learn ERM over a few days (what I already did), but I am really lacking some practice. I successfully done some patches or private mods, but I always wanted something big, but I need a team as I am not a graphician nor another specialist. I am programmer by heart but I am less than a begginner on Reverse Engineering so I prefer to play with ERM scripts than doing some plugin but once I would have enough skills I would do some too.

My programming skills can be prooved by tiny games I made (that mean I actually can do any non turn-based game with graphic interface, not that it were good one, and I am good enough with gaming logic to do turn based 6-dimensional labirynth even if it were displayed on 2d slices), but I am not humble enough to OSS only mine code (but it is not anything wrong for me to help freely on OSS project of somebody other owning) nor my games were good enough to share in wider audience. If I am forced morally I may proove that I am not a liar here, but best ones were done in Blitz Basic and demo compiler was more an interpreter than a compiler - hence there would come need of sharing the code which here wouldn't be provoked. As BASICs were mostly a closed way I learned C++ a bit (multi dimensional labirynth with regulated number of dimensions and some real time demos were done in C++ with Allegro, but I haven't finished in C++ anything bigger).

Sorry for the "Wolof Text" on offtopic digression of another people, but I felt forced to answer. Also I think my hospitalisation couldn't be planned so it's mostly not my fault.

Yeah, pun on "Wall of" and some "language" was intentional, so I am trying a bit successful to be funny in English which is rather hard to do if English is not your mother tongue (Yeah it's not mine).

I think if you ask advanced/expert ERM question in the ERM Help thread, you will be considered much more serious, than you appear to be.
Even further more if you answer such a question.

I tend to simplify my approach often by saying something is impossible. Many people ask this or that, and what seem to them natural and easy may require hundreds of hours of work from others. Thus I feel is better to say in short "not possible" rather than start a complicate analyze on how and when, while experience shows 0% of those projects come to life. Without a commune and mass consensus, who is going to put hundreds of hours from his free time to just satisfy one single demand?

Of course, if an idea is enough brilliant to really improve the game, then it could be considered. But is very rare.

Okay Salamandre, no offense to you, but gently please - could you use 'almost impossible' or 'nearly impossible' instead?
Some people once said WoG is impossible while it's not... Also it would be good to include short summary (not like my WOT) about why it is almost impossible: ie. 'Tedious amount of work' or 'tediously hard to do anything working like this'.

About me. I love to chatter and i love indepth analysis... While I'm still ontopic I suppose it's nothing wrong.

PS: I may ask some questions in advanced erm but I need specific question at the while. I seem to avoid normal erm thread since amount of over thousand pages scares me (I seem to prefer doing practical things as a whole or not at all... The exception is theorethical thing where I am more relaxed).

KingInYellow notes:
-) To hunt no need to travel. Just press "left" and "right" keys and you'll have a definite chance to meet a beast per step.
-) +5 HP for 3000 in the first location is much lower then +5 HP for 4500 (in duke's town).
-) If you're hunting anything and land from ship and meet a beast, the game will crash. You'll have to land without battle first, then move and meet the beast.
-) Many battles can be carried out in quick mode.

In old version answering "chance" to sphinx still crashed the game. Not so small word.
UPDATE: Crashes on any length answer.

Got it. Era 2.4 increased WoG version to 4.0, cause 3.59 match many official executables. So test for 3.59 is wrong.

-) Werewolves can turn Bron into several werewolves. Nice.
-) Djinni of water was defeated in quick battle mode automatically )

Thanks for the information, especially the new crash bug.  Responses:

On my system, the arrow keys and the Home, Page, and End keys will move the Hero one step in one of eight directions (this is convenient for traveling in dark places).  As far as I know and believe, the chances of encountering a hunted creature per step are the same whether you move one step at a time with the keys or several steps with the mouse.  (I have used the arrow keys a lot to travel the Serpent Maze.)

Different towns have different prices and will pay different amounts for hides.  In my opinion, there should be differences like this within a game so that players learn things which might cause them to play differently a second time, because the process of learning new things can be interesting.

I am sorry that the answer "chance" crashed the game in the old version.  It does not crash the version which was updated a month or so ago to prevent crashes from three-letter answers, so I have not investigated why the old version crashed.  If and when I finish my current project and need something to do I will probably resurrect the old version because I don't currently understand why "chance" would crash it.

I am also sorry about the crash on landing from a ship.  I have updated kinginyellow.erm and KingInYellow.exe so that this should not happen with the revised version.  These files are at https://www.box.com/s/877639740775a758a20f - people who have the mod installed and want this update only need to download the .erm file and use it to replace the one in Mods/KingInYellow/Data/s.  People  who do not have the mod and want the latest version should download only the KingInYellow.exe file (a self-extracting archive) and run it to install the mod (under Era 2).

I am grateful for comments on the game, especially if they might influence what I do in my current project.

Update - I did not see Bersy's update before writing the above reply.  It appears that more changes will be needed for an Era 2.4/WoG 4.0 version, and several other maps of mine may need to be updated with new UN:C addresses also, to be compatible with the next era of Era.  Is it just me, or is the rate at which all my work is becoming obsolete accelerating?

Thank you for the reply. I fixed sphinx checks ("=359:" => "=400:").
Currently playing with djinni of air, n-th time.
Btw, nice solution with blackjack, though no real anti-cheat can be implemented, such a trick will definitely make some people hang (as it happened to me after 16000 loss).

I just used up/down arrows in fast mode when sitting near the oasis, this way I could make all battles before each upgrade same day. Probably not wanted, but players are evil.

I was caught at early stage with no mana coming out of the town. From that time manticores were replaced by behemoths. So I used to make 1 step, save, again step, save/load until I reached the oasis. Was boring. Of course, I had no regeneration at that time.

By the way, I killed vampire town guards many times, but they didn't vanish. Pity.

The Oasis and the special Magic Spring (which resets to unvisited after each visit) were placed next to the Trading Post so that gaining experience and gold at the start can be done without a lot of End-Turns, which serve no purpose in the game (except for some scripted events) since the AI is not actively playing.  Using them to keep the number of game days to a minimum (and increase the final score) was intended as a technique which good players would think of and use - although perhaps not in the first time through the game.  Of course, the fewer End-Turns there are, the more events there will be between Autosaves in case of accidents.

I think the game becomes very easy once a player has learned what to do and what not to do (like most RPG's), so I hoped players would find some surprises in their first tries, before becoming expert in subsequent tries.  This would be impractical if the game took weeks to play instead of days, but I think it is short enough so that players can learn it by playing, if they are interested in doing so.

I misunderstood the previous comment about WoG 4.0, I think.  I first thought it meant that a new version of WoG, with some different UN:C addresses, would be used in Era 2.4.  Now I am thinking that perhaps only the UN:V version code will change.  I am a little surprised if so, because the original idea of WoG was as an upgrade to H3, falling between H3 and H4.  I.e., "Heroes 3.5(x)".  I suppose I will get used to it, however.

Me too, I would prefer it remains 3.59 and not drive away from tradition. I don't care about the "new wog" team which seems holds some obscure copyright on it, they are already out of competition.

UN:V returns 400 for WoG version and Era version * 1000 for ERM version 2400 currently). That's because Altair asked for possibility to obtain Era version (he writes universal scripts) and your scripts, like Dress Code use the checks.

359 is:
1) Binded to WoG team. As far as I know GrayFace wants to continue releasing executables.
2) Is not binded to concrete executable. Is it TE (2005), T1 (2006) or latest 3.59 exe (2009+)? UN:C will fail if you guess wrong.

400 is binary TE (UN:C is guaranteed to work) + Era 2.4+. That's enough to forget about problems in the future.
