It's a hard question coz I can't remember names for those heroes.

Worst Magic:
- eagle eye specialist of warlock (???)
- mysticism specialist of warlock (???)

Just so many great warlocks, why would I use these two
guys ???

Worst Might:
- zombie specialist of death knight (Stalker ???)

Can you give me one reason why Should I recruit this one even I have too much $$$ to spend ??

Straker comes with haste, so does josephine and a few others.  Many times I would have expert air, and no haste, so i'd buy a scholar too.
Voy, Sandro, and Grindan come with slow.

The best hero is clearly Sir "Fakebeard" Mullich. +2 Speed to every unit is an outrageous special. The less I see him the better.

I generally favour Might over Magic as might heroes are more reliable than magic ones. With magic hero you have to rely on your mage guild and to the high level damage spells like Implosion or Meteor Shower, which doesn't appear too often in your guild. Might hero can get far with just level 1 spells (especially Haste). Furthermore, creatures of magic oriented hero are more or less like minced meat when engaging creatures of might oriented hero. Magic heroes also tend to gain Mysticism, Learning and Eagle Eye more easily.

Knights
A quite good hero class (contains Sir Mullich and Orrin). Only bad hero is Sylvia (specialty in Navigation), but she is a handy secondary hero in water maps. Main drawback for Knights is that it isn't easy for them to get Earth Magic.

Clerics
This heroes tend to advance rather balanced with their primary skills (little bit towards magic though). Loynis is indeed a good hero (the only drawback is that he starts with the learning), Adela has specialty in Bless and a Diplomacy secondary skill (another good choice). I wouldn't fancy much having Cuthbert, Ryan or Sanya.

Rangers
Rangers are one of my favourites and it isn't a miracle that they are as they are good. Ryland has a specialty in Denroids and has Diplomacy and Leadership, Kyrre has a specialty in Logistics, Jenova earns you money, Mephala has Armorer as a specialty and Leadership, Ivor has Offense and Archery and specializes in Elves, Thorgrim is every spell casters nightmare.
Clancy and Ufretin are bad, do not recruit them. Rangers will gain Defense.

Druids
Not many pearls in these shells. Elleshar is propably the best choice for Druid but I would take Ranger instead.

Alchemists
Neela is a good choise due to her specialty in Armorer. Torosar is a good choice due to his Tactics (serves Tower very well) otherwise he is crap. Thane might pay against Stronghold (only due to the speed bonus of Genies). Rissa is always welcome to share some of that Mercury. Overall Alchemists are quite bad heroes. Kyrre and Orrin are both quite good choices for Tower as both of them have Archery and a great special. Alchemists will gain their primary skills balanced. Piquedram seems to be the favourite of the computer players.

Wizards
Solmyr is the best Wizard available. Cyra might be good choice due to her diplomacy but I like to see haste specials with more might oriented heroes than what Wizards are. Not too many good wizards out there.

Demoniacs
Marius is the best Demoniac here is (special in Demons, creatures which can get quite numerous due to the Pit Lords, and an Advanced Armorer). Not many other good choices for hero. Ignatius has good secondary skills (Tactics and Resistance) but specializes in Imps. Rashka has specialty in Efreets but has Scholar secondary skill.

Heretics
Inferno has the worst selection of heroes and the Heretics won't make it any better. Calid is always wanted due to his sulfur special. Besides Calid only Ayden makes some sense due to his Intelligence.

Death Knights
Every Necropolis hero has Necromancy as secondary skill. Galthran has special in skeletons which makes him good choice for main. Isra has special in Necromancy which makes her great.
Clavius has special in money. Moandor looks charismatic but has learning (so he's crap hero). Straker is junk. Tamika has special in Dread Knights and Offense. Vokial has special in Vampires but has artillery as secondary skill. Charna has Tactics but also the special in Wights.

Necromancers
Aislinn (specialty in Meteor Shower), Thant (specialty in Animate Dead) and Vidomina (specialty in Necromancy) are all great heroes. Nagash has special in money. Nimbus and Septienna are crap heroes and Sandro isn't great either.

Overlords
Gunnar is greatest Overlord. Damacon gains money for you and Dace has specialty in Minotaurs. Shakti comes with good number of Troglodytes so he is good starting hero but lacks effectiveness later. Avoid rest.

Warlocks
Alamar and Jeddite specializes in Resurrection. From those two Jeddite is better. Deemer has better special but has scouting also. Sephiroth is a living crystal mine. Jaegar and Geon makes it straight through to the garbage. Darkstorn and Malekith lacks finesse. Warlocks gain most magic primary skills, so every other hero class will beat them in might.

Barbarians
Crag Hack is great. Shiva may pay against Tower or another Stronghold due to the speed gain of Thunderbirds. Tyraxor has Tactics but his special is a little drawback in some cases. Rest of the Barbarians rates more or less of average.

Battle Mages
Terek is the best hero Stronghold has. He has both Haste and Tactics and Haste special. Dessa has Logistics special. Gundula has offense special. Saurug earns gems. Rest are more or less average except Orin, who is great due to her Eagle Eye.

Beast Masters
Tazar is great. Alkin is good also due to his Gorgon special and Offense and Armorer. Bron will bring some Basilisks when you recruit him, and he also has Resistance. Drakon is also good at the beginning, while rest are more or less garbage.

Witches
Witches can take their brooms and fly away from Fortress. As they are magic oriented heroes Mage Guild of Fortress won't bring them much good. They will easily gain Water Magic, which isn't gain as Water Magic don't have effective damage spells what Magic heroes need.

Inferno and Fortress have the worst selection of heroes. Tower don't have too much good heroes either.

I would never take them as my main. But perhaps some people aren't so choosy as I am.

Yog and Krellion are average, rest would be more like poor. And what papers?

Crag Hack versus Shiva and both of them have Expert Haste with Tactics and both are roughly of same level. My vote goes for Shiva simply because she starts first.

Oh, and notify that I said may.

Hack's Thunderbirds are more like dead with attack of Thunderbirds and Wolf Raiders alone. If needed Cyclops can complete them. Goblins and Orcs can kill off some Wolf Raiders. Behemoths can attack Behemoths. And if Hack should appear to have Mass Slow, Shiva will propably have Expert Resistance also.

In most cases (against most towns) Crag Hack is much better than Shiva.

shiva has scouting, she has probs getting all those good skills to expert you know, and a speed art on hack destroys all your plans, its more or less a nonsense oppinion

and if you get one or two morale boosts or lucky strikes in your first attack Hack is in trouble lol

I think Thunder's argument is valid. Hack is way better hero than Shiva of course. The only time it makes sence to choose Shiva is if you wana go first agains another stronghold or tower. If you attack they need +2 speed artie to counter that. And it's very unlikely that hack will have both expert air and earth with both haste and slow. Given the high attack/low defense of barbarians one good first attack may be potentially devastating.

I disagree about fortress and inferno heroes tho. Fortress has one of the best might (Tazar) and magic (Andra) heroes.
Inferno heroes are good all-around heroes with a very high chance to get logistics.

Well, now you are including Speed Artifacts. Maybe I could as well include the Angelic Alliance for Shiva.

I know very well that Shiva has scouting. That is what makes her bad. But still she might prove to be useful.

Most of the specials Inferno heroes come with aren't good.

Tazar alone doesn't make Fortress Heroes good (just 1 out of 16). And I don't rate Intelligence that high (nor artillery for that matter).

now you got it all wrong

Dessa is the best logistics specialist, then Kyrre, and finally Gunnar. Why? Dessa will develop most balanced, can sack both creature and arties for experience. Gunnar will never get water magic and if you mass curse him he can't do anything. He cant sack arties also.

Offense specialists.
Gundula is better than Hack. Develop more balanced and the offense specialty is more usefull for her than for Hack (check out some other threads on this). Hack wont getter water also. He is overrated lol *looks towards Andi*

hehe sos...well if we talk about randoms, i pick gunnar over the 2 other log heroes anyday...why? overlords rock
that water magic yes it can hurt, but a curse at beginning can also be a drawback, depends what town gunnar commands
and for hack or gundula, you know my oppinion about that hehe, its wrong to say offense special brings more for gundula...why?
coz the more the better, theres no limit, so there

You´re right, unless diplo is allowed, because then you take kyrre.

Without diplo and necro, the best towns are castle (because of the poss to get more angels) and dungeon (because of the portal of summoning).

However, its hard to build the dragon cave, so you might wanna go for stronghold if you plan to do some early topes. Unless you have Jeddite.

I´m glad we+ve finally won you over to the random map players AndiRandomPlayer. All it takes is a few random maps and yer hokked =)

nah

here is where you are wrong Andi. The offense bonus never goes beyond that for 0 A/D. So Hack high Attack wont contribute anything to his offense bonus. If Gundulas bonus is 60% of her damage at level 20 (assuming 0 A/D), Hack's bonus may be only 45% of his damage (assuming +10 A/D). I am telling ya, he is overrated - even his fellow Shiva will kick his big butt lol

well Thunder, your list looks really good ... however ...

I don't find septienna crap at all.  She's the only scholar among necropolis, to perhaps learn/ teach from Thant.

And even outside of necropolis, if I'm playing an open map, I'll want all my scouts to learn death ripple.

you just gotta LOVE having a hero with 2 gargoyles ... up against 7 stacks of goblins ... and then hearing them die and scream at the same time.

As for Shiva, she looks better than she performs.
Also, Gurnisson kicks @$$.
