Hmm, not to shabby, initial opening of 29 packs:

Insta crafted Kalecgos and Khadgar, 10k dust left so things are looking bright 
EDIT: Currently playing "Summoner" (aka Khadgars Creations) Mage with a few modifications (added spell power minions). Fun

The seasons coincide perfectly with months. You'll get the season reward chest the first time you log in to the game each month. What you got was a present for reaching rank 25. Congratulations, you are officially out of the newbie league and will never ever drop lower than rank 25.

Oh wow, they rotated out 3 expansions. Rip my decks now, I was using some really good cards. So wait... No way, did I open that 25 rank chest... RIGHT BEFORE THE CARDS ROTATED OUT?!

Stevie if you have trouble with keeping up to the events in Hearthstone, why not try pages like https://www.hearthpwn.com/? They literally spell everything there, like when a season is ending or what to craft to make maximum profit etc.
You knew the Year of the Raven was ending on 9th, didn't you?
For instance I literally made 3200 free dust for crafting and disenchanting golden copies of Baku & Genn (had regular copies, made the golden ones). Ofc I needed 6400 dust to begin with...

Well, to lighten your mood a bit, Hearthstone is a game of RNG and missed opportunities. For every unlucky strike (like getting no Legendary in 39 packs) there are lucky ones (like getting 4 Legendaries in 3 packs in a row, like me  ). It levels.

Madame Lazul was my legendary..
Crafted both Paladin legendaries, because I collect paladin legendaries. I wonder if I should just craft both mage legendaries as well.
Oh well.. I guess the next few days of free packs will give me a lot of new good cards.. sigh.

If I don't get Nozari in a pack, I'll probably craft her. You know, she being a Dragon and all. I doubt she works (although last game I could've really used her healing effect), but can you give me some feedback guys if she's even playable?
Kalecgos is good. Immediate effect (although all of the 3 spell choices can be s*it at times), big body, and a threat if stays on board. Although I must say he rather works in controly decks, most useful Mage spells aren't even that expensive to begin with. Maybe he is supposed to work in tandem with Kirin Tor Tricaster? Btw, he has a really cool intro quote.
Khadgar I don't know actually. It's not that easy to pull off combos with him (plus he really likes to sit on the bottom of your deck). I mean I play the deck and it's fun, but so far it's too clunky so it will probably need to be refined. The most effective synergy is undoubtedly with Power of Creation. It is pretty impressive when you summon 4x 7/6 minions with the combo... Blizzard is steadily building this archetype, so it might be a thing at some point. Gonna try it in Wild, there are some cool cards there.
There was a post from Blizzard regarding free packs. The quest chain is one quest per day, and it gives 1 RoS pack and 1 pack from previous sets. So 5 RoS packs from 12 overall.

Last night after the expansion, I was hitting some pretty well made decks at rank ~20. I realize I don't stand too much of a chance against some of the newer archetypes with my uncooked spell mage, thus I'm experiencing some anxiety going on ladder. These recent decks that came out with this expansion are way too oppressive for a newcomer like me. Lost to pilfer rogue's value game, inched a win against a bomb warrior before I almost died myself, and I definitely can't win against deathrattle priest with all the heals and value minions.

I don't play ladder cus I feel anxiety all the time there I just can't handle when my winning streak is broken by some cancerous Priest (I mostly play Wild) with god draw.
But on a serious note, Hearthstone is not friendly for people new to the game. Until you build a solid collection, you need to rely on cancer aggro/zoo decks which are cheapest to build. Try Zoolock, since day 1 I can't remember a time when this deck wouldn't be viable plus it got some nice support this xpac.

I know this is on the far end of the luck spectrum, but I played Khadgar into Astromancer, got 2 Catrina Muertas which filled the rest of my board with Boulderfist Ogres. My opponent just ran.

I think what he mean is that it will give Stevie a chance to try many semi-playable decks until he has a bigger collection. The card is said to be the ultimate value card for new players, even if the premade decks aren't that good (but decent nevertheless).
Tried Wild Murloc Shaman deck with Quest, Neptulon and other stuff. The new cards make it stronger then ever (the one that adds more Murlocs if you summon a Murloc is OP as f*).
I also tried the Lackey Rouge. Even crafted Togwaggle, because why the f* not? Fun! EDIT: And powerful. Shark totem + Lackeys/Togwaggle generate tons of value. This deck might be a sleeper of the set.
EDIT 2: I'll say it again: Shark Totem + Lackeys is OP. Generating value was never this easy: Lackeys all have battle-cries, all have strong effects and all are cheap. I played a few games with Rouge and it's insane. I'm able to fill the board very quickly and am happy that Lynchen has found a home in the deck. Keep in mind that it is my personal impression, I don't judge the deck from a competitive standpoint. This plus summoner Mage and Wild Murloc Shaman are giving me a lot of fun currently.

Agree, Shark Rogue with all the value is nuts. Also love Barista's play sound as well, really well done.
I've actually been playing with summoner mage in arena, or at least trying to. Best run was with a Kelthuzad and that card that destroys a minion and summons two of the same value. It was ridiculous. Add to that a discovered Kalecgos and it went ballistic. Never had so much fun filling my board with 10 cost creatures in arena.

Stevie, if you want to maximize value when it comes to Legendaries, then craft Ziliax. He fits into almost any deck. I agree it's one of the most versatile Legendaries currently. One of the better designed cards in Hearthstone history.

2. I am thinking about crafting all needed for Murloc Shaman.. I have a lot of the previous good stuff for it, just need the new snow and I love shaman .. so why not..

Actually there's not that much to craft: 2x Underbelly Angler, 2x Toxfin, 2x (or even one is sufficent) Soul of the Murloc and 2x Sludge Slurper. I would hold off with crafting Scargil, I still can't tell if his good enough. Whatever the case Underbelly Angler is the real mvp here.
