That one I disagree with. Playing Dungeon Run against other players is something I wanted pretty much since the Solo Dungeon Runs arrived and I'm not the only one.

Complete all 50 levels on the Reward Track and you’ll get to choose from one of 10 all-new Hero Skins! - this means there are 50 levels of the standard track. I don't know if it means you'll still able to get that 150 gold per XP level after reaching level 50 or not...

The Reward Track includes a free track for all players, and a paid track that can be unlocked by purchasing the Tavern Pass. Purchasing the Tavern Pass at any point during the expansion will immediately grant the Golden Silas Darkmoon Legendary card, a 10% XP Boost that lasts for the duration of the expansion, and all items up to your current level on the free track.

Ofc we don't have all the details, but that is how I understood this section: you need to pay if you want more. If it's a system similar to MtG Arena then I think it's OK-yish (although we don't have that other currency). But if not... then yeah, that's how it is.

Well ok, I'm not saying Dungeon Run is a bad concept. But that doesn't change the fact this mode is simply a repurposed mode of old

We need to seperate two things here. I belive Hearthstone team is one of the last bits of "old Blizzard" still left in the company, at least when you look at their enthusiasm (as in: people who love what they are doing) and playfulness or plainly speaking, their creativity. That said we can clearly see that the over-aching company above them is cynical. They find new ideas to monetize as much as possible (each new system revamp basically adds new posibilities to spend money), add "battlepasses" or raise prices (c'mon, 80 euros for digital cards and a skin? Even AAA games don't cost this much...) etc. Do you think these decision come from Team 5? I think they don't even get a penny from this, other then their standard salary and maybe occasional supplements...

All Legendaries I want means I get/craft around 10 legendaries from each expansion, all the ones I actually need. I have +40k dust so I could craft everything I wanted. I have never missed a card I needed in any expansion.

Comparing MTG arena moneywise is ridiculous. I have spent a lot more money on it than I have on Hearthstone, and I CAN NOT make top tier decks. I can NEVER afford a top tied deck in MTG because it needs 4 copies of each card. The fact I can do SEVERAL top tied decks in Hearthstone without paying at all, you just can't even compare those two.

But I agree the fact you can play all the archetypes in MTG is neat. i do like it, and would like to see it implemented in Hearthstone.

I am not a Priest player anymore, in fact I haven't been one in years. I dislike the class to be honest, but I hope it comes back some day in more interesting form. I play Mage, Warlock and Paladin. 3 classes yeah, not all of them, but what can say, I hate most other classes Especially Druid Hunter and Demon Hunter. So no, I won't be playing them, no sir no ;D

Yeah cool, seems we have different expieriences I don't know what I would need to do to have 40k reserve of dust in this game. Having 11k is probably the max I could have at a time, but alas, sometimes I craft cards just on a whim so maybe that's the problem

Actually maybe it's a matter of how each of us sees "progress" in those games. Both have their pros and cons. For me progress in Hearthstone is kinda luckluster, but maybe becasue I don't play arena and don't dust most Epics and only base my earnings on dailies. Alas the Hearthstone formula is still much more approachable, whatever expansion comes out, you know how to go by. MtG can be so overwhelming with deckbuilding possibilities, to the point I'm just too discouraged to try new decks, prefering to play some of my older ones when a new expansion comes out.

Progress wise in MtG I get tons of stuff just be playing for an hour once per 3 days. There are daily deals, quests, themed events. There's always something to unlock, unpack. When it comes to creating decks the problem is that you cannot "dust off" cards while, like you mentioned, most decks require usually 4 copies of a card, so when you need rares or mythics, you might be a little low on resources. On the other there are just so many possibilities to create a good deck and I have decks in my collection that are still quite effective even after so many months (Reanimator, G/R Aggro, Mono Red aggro, B/W flying deck etc). I also try some top tier decks from time to time. I only bought gems at one time so that I could get a Mastery Pass, and that's it.

But I think both games are enjoyable and both could learn from each other. In general it all comes down to what we want from these games...

Just like you, I am a TCG fanatic lol, I love a lot of them. have you ever played Android: Netrunner? Me and my friends have loved it for years ,it become our favorite, but sadly it is dying, and it is so funny that MTG is not. I even think MTG is overall a weaker game in mechanics but somehow it keeps staying alive no matter  what happens And I don't mind, as i have a lot invested in it xD

There's no digital version of it if I recall? I never played it but I did hear about it becasue it's released by Fantasy Flight Games, a company I once bought board games from.

There are actually a ton of card games nowadays, but I don't want to invest time in any other cus of time limitations I only made an exception for MtG becasue of my familiarity with it.

I do enjoy playing PC games that are using card mechanics. Form recent time the games I played are Slay the Spire and Griftlands. They are not maybe TCG per se, but they are using deckbuilding mechanics. I also heard Legends of Runeterra is very good.

Android: Netrunner is physical, it is like a board game mixed with TCG qualities. I also play MTG in it's physical form, draft that is. Fits into budget unlike standard... *rolls eyes*

Personally I feel like it has been quite underwhelming. The previous expansions did more for me then this one.

Though I am looking pretty forward to Duel mode.

It is not just you. They are running out of ideas - again.

Corrupt mechanic is pretty boring. Old gods are great and all, but again?

And yes DH got some insane cards - again - and Rogue looks good as well.

About running out of ideas, I would love to see an expansion or a mid-season drop of cards that focus on OLD mechanics. I know that is more of the same, but sometimes it feels like an expansion is so short lived because its impact does not stick much. Imo there are not enough corrupt cards, which means it will die out in the next expansion - or look at spellburst... oh well..

The expansion doesn't seem amazing, but still I am interested. Especially about decks that have the Old Gods, I truly am a fan of those.

But why give Demon Hunter a 1 mana 6/6 rush minion, like god. Il'gynoth also seems insane, congrats for hitting your enemy for double damage if you have the lifesteal weapon equipped. And they already run it, so it is an easy addition. Double anything is INSANE. Good times running triple weapon removal from now on

High Exarch Yvel seems neat, I love the upgraded Zilliax I loved that card too.

But like I said I will mostly focus on Old God decks at least at first. Hope they work out, otherwise this expansion won't really work for me.

Logged in yesterday, got excited to see all the new stuff (progression and Duels) and bought 50 packs of latest expansion without actually looking what it is.
Now I have around 1K gold, some achievements of Scholomancy collection and a LOT of Dust.

Even though I've read about it I was still pretty confused about how this new system works. I believe achievements simply give you some kind of "achievement points" which are only there to compare to others (like with any kind of achievements)? One thing I noticed is that many of the challenges are unfinished even though I'm pretty sure I completed them at some point over the years (like the class challenges): I did get around 5300 achievement points from the get go so that means some were accounted for it seems and some not.... wonder what is the logic here.

Gotta say though, after doing a few quests (I didn't finish them before the patch hit so I had 3) rewards started rolling in and I'm pretty impressed how much I got just by playing for like an hour: 4 packs, 1 Legendary, 1 Epic and 200 gold. Interestingly both "free cards" were from the newest expansion already (although I can't play them yet), so nice touch.

I also played Duels, because there is a Legendary quest that gives you 2 packs from DF, but it will be a hurdle cus somehow I don't enjoy this mode very much: I mean you can build a strong deck, but there's still this random element that you opponent might suddenly pop out with a treasure card that completely snows you over... I assume players already found out what kind of decks work best in the 16 cards format?

It was late and I was tired. And for some reason I was sure that everything comes out together.

Some achievements have an added bonus to them, like a bulk of XP, but most seem to be just for points. I played 1 Tavern Brawl and 2 Duels runs (ended with 5 and 6 wins) and I got SO many rewards. I guess this will slow down because higher levels require more XP, but we'll see how it goes.

OK so I got a bit determined to finish those "Duels" Legendary quests (turns out there are two more for a total of 6 packs).

Who would've guessed that I simply needed to pick Priest? I think the class is optimal for this mode due to sheer number of removals and ways to sustain yourself. Plus the Dragon package is strong as always. I was also probably lucky to get +1 permanent Spell Damage cus it makes spells like Holy Nova that much more dangerous. I also picked the +1/+1 for a random minion in your hand which snowballs pretty hard.

Currently I'm at 9 wins and lost one heart so far. Even Demon Hunters are no match unless they pull off some idiotic 16 dmg to face with a weapon. But most of the time I outvalue/outheal my opponents. Value decks are king in this mode.

So if you ever want to tackle this mode seems Priest is one of the best choices. I made a similar deck to this:

Hmm, so it might turn out the new award system is not such a good thing afterall...

The fact that exp scales with each level will make leveling up harder the further you go. We do have weekly quest to seemingly complement this, but some of them are really bothersome to deal with, like the "finish Battlegrounds in top 2". I mean there's no way I will do that. Yeah, you can reroll but you might get another dud like the "play 50 corrupt cards". Some quests even require for you to have specific cards like "Play an Old God Legendary from the Darkmoon Faire 10 times." :/ Or the "Finish an Arena run with 4 or more wins".

Yeah I know it's just a bit more effort the usual, but that's the thing, the system was supposed to be better for a player... before I only needed to spend like an hour once per three days to complete all quests, whatever I did, loose or win.

EDIT: The community outrage is getting bigger and bigger, I see many people are actively criticizing Blizzard for this system, even streamers. I wonder if it's deserved though, people like to overblow some things.

EDIT 2: Haha, this one streamer was right. He predicted that Blizzard will react with a blue post: "we will make things right to you". He said they will wait for the snowstorm, and if its too much to handle they will adjust the system as it was planned from the get go (maybe a few more pre-planned "adjustments" are on the way?). PR stunt.

They said it pretty early on that the exact numbers might change. I haven't formed my own opinion yet, because I don't feel like calculating whether it's better or worse. Instead I just wait to see how much I'll earn in a season.

A lot of people have done the math already. But no matter the calculations imo it's still requires more effort...
