I can't decide if the Germans were real beasts or just Portugal was very weak. Of course the stupid action of Pepe influenced of the game but Portugal had lost before the red card.
And... One of my wild predictions burned away

We had the same opinion in 2010 and 2012.....we know how that ended...
But I think this time we are even more prepared for that tournament.
Great shape, great fitness of all players...
Defense worked out well...not many chances for Portugal...
Offense is just a threat for every defense in my eyes...
Kroos doesn't make any faults...Lahm is just Lahm...
Just Özil could do a bit better...
But we still have Schweinsteiger on the bench...and Podolski, Schürrle, Klose.....
Awaiting Ghana vs USA today...just to see how they will do...

I didn't like it. Nigeria had the better players, but their attacking game was like when I play chess and make a move and realize my plan was wrong and now the game has evened out again after I'd managed to gain the upper hand after a long fight.
From the eagle eyed viewpoint it was somewhat clear where there were good passes to be played, but the Nigerians kept on choosing the "odd" solutions, very different from what we see on European teams. Also it lead to nothing. If Nigeria had won, it'd have been because Iran made a mistake, not because Nigeria outplayed them.

I still think Spain or Brazil (because of home) is going to win. Germany is vibrant and fun to watch and can put lots of balls in the net but that doesn't necessarily save them from a team that can keep the ball from them in the later stages (i.e. Spain, Italy). They're inconsistent at delivering the kind of massacres like today.
Our game against Ghana was super fun. Almost instantaneous goal and then a redemption at 85 minutes to break the tie.
Altidore got a strained hamstring.
