Benzema soooo close, what a great play from him.`

Though France should be with 10, this is red card material

Ouch, yup watching it for this angle clearly shows that it should have been a red card.

Well played by Nigeria though. I think both team took turns with playing the best but France played better most of the time and they manage to capitalize and obviously made more goals. (technically they made the same number of goals.)

Still it wasn't a great game from the french team, it took them long to start creating a lot of chances and dominate the game.

Once Griezman enter replacing Giroud, Benzema began to shine and with him France. Something to take into accound if the french want to win against Germany.

Aww, I got excited when Algeria scored, but no luck. Neuer played a great game today, must admit, and Germany looked pretty mediocre, but no big team has looked amazing yet, so they should be fine.

Deserved victory for Germany, but if we had any other result I wouldn't call it undeserved.

Poor Argelia, had they scored 2 or 3 minutes earlier, or not suffered so much from physical problems they'd had got into penalties minimum. Big effort from them, well played

Kind of an underwhelming way to lose for Algeria, considering the game. So many superb blocks and then the two goals seemed so easy. That one header from Schweinsteiger was a bullet and still denied. I was on Algeria's side, but then again, the France-Germany quarterfinal will be more high profile than seeing the two 1960s war nations go at it on the turf. Friday's gonna be good.

From what I saw so far (R16) I can safely say that the goal drought has begun if we compare to the gr. stage. The teams play very sparingly and secure, especially the "bigger" teams. So my prediction:

Argentina 2-1 Switzerland (AET, I trust stormy's prediction for ET here)
Belgium 0-0 USA (don't know which team will advance after penalty shout-out)

And after the realistic predictions, I hope Argentinians have watched very closly Fance - Switzerland and I don't mind if the score is 6-3 *dreams for 9 goals* The other match 3-3 is ok imo

What a horrible game of germany that was....

I really hope Özil gets injured during exercise the next 2 days, so he is finally out of that team. I can't stand watching his arrogant and non-contributing playstyle anymore. He offers NOTHING to the team!

Götze seems to be completely out of shape...

Finally Mustafi (did any german know him BEFORE the WC 2014 anyway??)  is out for the rest of the tournament. He clearly showed yesterday he isn't international class...by far

Neuer is just amazing...without him, we would probably be already out of the tournament. Best german player in the tournament so far....

Felt a bit sorry Müller didn't score his 5th goal yesterday...had some chances though...

I really hope the game vs France will be a bit different. We need some fresh spirit in the team, there is so few movement without the ball.

We miss Reuss....

Yeah, Germany should consider themselves very fortunate to have Müller and Neuer. Head and shoulders above the rest.

Algeria would have SO earned qualification

Indeed, Germany needs to step up if they want to take the title back home.

Now some more realistic predictions, as all teams are too scared of having a 2+ lead

Argentina 1-1 Switzerland (2-1 in ET)
Belgium 1-1 USA (Freedom wins in penalties)
