"Ciaran, you will recall you put him in your pack," Nathanial responded, amused. "and I told you: place him on the ground, touch him and say 'aychuzyu' to restore him."

"Hmmmm, I would wait on the horse..." The dragon said, looking at the cave and the mountain top. "If I recall correctly, they tend not to do well with scaling mountains... or dark, damp places. I would recommend waiting until we are off of the mountain first, then releasing your horse second." The dragon nodded at that, before standing up and slinking towards the cave entrance. "Oh! And if someone could roll up the map, that would just be superb..."

"Thank you, paladin." Den says, before leading you all into the cave. The firs thing you notice is that you immediately lose the glowing golden aura from your blessing of creation, and find that it is instead much more of a dull gray. ((Bonuses from your blessing of creation are gone. Sorry. No nice things for you today. )) This lack of color actually seems to radiate from the mountain core, to the point where, when you light your torches so that Nathaniel and Ciaran can see in the deeper darkness of the cavern, the flames of your torches have no color beyond different colors of gray. Den does not seem to be bothered by this.

"Now then, come, come, and don't worry too much about the color change, most of the Void monsters live deep, deep within the bowels of the mountains. While their influence reaches all throughout these tunnels, we should not encounter them by the time we leave..." And with that, the dragons began to walk, keeping close to the walls. It only took him a few more seconds to start rambling after that.

"Ahhh... I suppose you four are not used to the colorlessness of this place to realize just how beautiful these caverns are. Did you know that these walls are almost all teal quartz? Really, rather stunning they are... when I made this tunnel system to stave off the boredom by burrowing around, I never thought I would find something like that." After five more minutes of rambling, pointing out sites and just generally talking in an attempt to keep the party from being bored, the dragon said, "Oh, and coming up, we have... well now. This... could get tricky."

In the next cavern opening the blackness of the landscape had become a dull gray, as if a new light source was coming closer. "Now then, wwhat I want you all to remember is... while you might be scared of the outsiders, they really do not care about you, and you should be fine to go along your business. Just... don't get in their way. Whatever landscape they are looking at or poking is very important to the multiverse somehow." With that little bit of sarcasm, the dragon peaked around the corner and gestured for the rest of you to join him at the cave entrance.

Upon looking in, you would find multiple small glowing orbs flying around, drifting almost aimlessly about the cave. These orbs are, for lack of a better term, almost like atoms, with two balls of colorless flames, two balls of colorless, cackling energy and two globes of perfect, chilling ice floating around in the zone that would be their electron shell. These creatures were about the size of Vorbrin, and they floated bout two feet above the ground. Overseeing all of these creatures was a rather more... peculiar beasty. In appearance, it looked like a swirling nebula of glowing star-dust with two arms and two legs sticking out of it. This one was taller, about the size of Nathaniel, and it seemed to be directing the smaller ones to different parts of the room, pointing at particular walls and spots on the floor to smooth out. All of these creatures gave off a glow, illuminating the space around them superbly. None of them responded to the presence of the party peaking around the corner.

((Not actually at the position on roll20 yet, giving you a chance to identify these creatures first and for you to roleplay. So then, since these are outsiders, roll Knowledge (the planes) checks people. :3))

Nathaniel would remember that the notes talked about a race of outsiders known as the Aeons. Unlike most outsiders, they are not dedicated to any one deity or cause, but rather, they serve the will of the multiverse... at least, typically they serve fate and the multiverse. However, the notes had mentioned that there seemed to be a certain sect of Aeon that served in the armies of the Void, obeying whatever force commanded them against the forces of Oblivion. It seems these these reports were true, as at least part of the gray-scale coloration of the cave system seemed to be coming from the Aeons before you.

The Aeons that you can identify from the notes were classified under Aeon; Paracletus. They are the most common and simple of the Aeons, doing everything from normal, every day old menial labor to correcting small aberrations in the fabric of reality. They have some influence over the emotional state of mortals and other outsiders, and electricity crackles between their orbitals and their cores, but other than that they appear to be rather harmless. They also seem to have no interest in you, despite the party being rather visible from the cave entrance.

The much stranger creature is an Aeon, likely far more influential as it is apparently giving mental commands to the smaller ones. And as always with Outsiders, the ones with more influence always have more power and more individuality, which would make things more dangerous, if it decided to care about any of you. Fortunately, this was not the case, and the creature went about its business. Nathaniel has no idea what this creature is, though if he checked his notes he would probably find it in there...

And then Den started to walk in. "Now then, we won't have to really worry about these little things. They're just here to patch up a few holes and build up-" And that is when an Aeon was directed to drift down to the ground above Den's head, and it landed on top of Den's head. For one tense moment, everything went absolutely still... and then the director turned to look straight at the dragon and gestures both of its arms at him. And like that, the Aeons began to swirl and swarm towards the abberant dragon, auras of hostility and fear glowing around them. Den, meanwhile, pulled back against the closest cavern wall and snarled.

((Roll initiative all. Also, last chance to re-locate your tokens on the battle map before combat.))

"I know little of the nature of the overseer," Nathanial warned while pulling his sword from its sheath, "but the smaller beings are Paracletus; simple Aeons tasked with repairing small flaws in reality and other such chores. Most are unaligned, but some served the Void, and they can alter the emotions of others so be on your guards, my comrades." Raising his voice, he called out:

"Enough! We mean you no harm but we will defend ourselves if we must!"

Feather set her bag on the ground, preparing to be more mobile than she would be with it. Upon facing forward again, she held her special starknife in one hand, and a chakram in the other.

"Repairing small holes in reality, huh? Well, from what we know of Den, I'm sure that would fit, though not on the small scale. Maybe we fit it too. At least in this reality. Not quite sure about that though."

Feather's assumption seems correct, as the Aeons do not stop or even make any indication that they had heard Nathaniel's words. They continued to draw towards Den, chirring in a threatening manner. The only one that even acknowledged that the paladin had spoken was the four-limbed nebula, who seemed to recognize that the party also existed just now... and then went back to ignoring them. The party hadn't done anything to get in the way... yet.

((Feather, you got first initiative, you get to go first. And Kareeah, unfortunately, Aeons don't speak common. Most of the other outsiders will be fluent, however. ))

Feather thought about maneuvering around a little, and letting weapons fly at the leader, but thought it might be a little better to thin their numbers a bit. With that thought, she started hurling weapons at one of the closer orbs.

As Feather's weapons fly out, the Aeons that she targets only have an instant to chirr before exploding in little puffs of energy and smoke. The rest of them seem to shift in a way that suggested that Feather had just become a... person of interest.

Ciaran was totally spacing out for the longest time. It was all a little too... Metaphysical. But suddenly, Feather threw her signature pretties. This was a world Ciaran finally understood. The boss hadn't given an order yet, but she assumed the old one still applied when it came to Den. One of those balloon things seemed awfully close to Den.

She smiled. This was going to be fun. She darted with great speed acroos the room with her Heavy irons around her hands and she struck true and she struck hard, relishing the lightning crack of her hands dishing out pain. The creature stirred for a moment as if her fist had no effect on the world. As if all was perfectly still and tranquil, but then it shook and blew apart in a violent flurry.

"Heh, gotcha." Ciaran smirked.

After Ciaran punched the little bugger hard enough to make it explode in a rather anti-climatic fashion, the larger Aeon seemed to become slightly enraged and gestured for all of the others to converge on Feather and Ciaran. The drones moved to obey, though one was obliterated completely before it could even twitch when Den released a line of darkness that the dragon released from his maw.

Reaching the sides of the two adventurers in a heartbeat, the Paracleatus threw their bodies at Ciaran and Feather. The barbarian was struck by both of the creatures, battered slightly and shocked much more severely as the ball of electricity hovering around the outsiders made contact with her skin.

Feather, on the other hand, managed to avoid one of the attacks directed at her, and the one that did hit barely touched her. ((Literally rolled a 1 on both damage rolls XD))

From the darkness three more of the chirring creatures appear, glowing a hostile shade of grey and seeming to be focused more on Den than the rest of the party. Though from the way the cave is illuminated now, these seem to be the last of the Aeons in this section, at the very least.

((Nathaniel's turn, if I recall correctly))

Sighing in regret that the creatures either couldn't understand him or chose to ignore him, Nathanial glanced over at his compatriots.

Vobrin and Feather seemed to be holding their own nicely; Ciaran however looked as though she would appreciate some assistance, the more so as she was all that currently stood between the greater Aeon and their new charge. Swinging his sword, Nathanial leapt to her aid. ((Actions in the OoC and Roll 20.))

The poor little buggers never stood a chance, and Nathaniel's swinging blade shatters another two of the fragile little Aeons. Their leader seemed to be a bit more confused, and gestured towards the paladin as well, before turning its body to give Vorbrin a blank, swirling stare... almost as if asking, "And am I adding you too?" Vorbrin watched the battle unfold with interest. When the Aeon leader to look at him, the inquisitor returned a stare just as blank as the outsider's. Then he spoke to his group.

"Listen to me, brothers and sisters, here's our plan of combat. Myself and brother Nathaniel will guard dragon Den front a frontal attack by their leader. Dragon Den, protect our left flank. Sister Ciaran, I will provide you with divine protection, so deal with the menace on our right flank. Sister Feather, assist sister Ciaran on our right flank and take out the approaching enemies from afar. Grumbar be with us!"

With that Vorbrin dodged forward to stand in front of Den. He reached out his hand and shouted: "Thou's energies will falter in the face of Grumbar". A quick flicker of energy surrounded his body for a moment. When it disappeared there was a certain air of protection about him. Then he held his holy symbol in his hand and spoke the words of holy incantation: "Let he who fights by the side of Grumbar be basked in his favor." And the same flicker that appeared around the dwarf surrounded Ciaran for a second and disappeared with the same effect.

Seeing as how Vorbrin had moved away, Feather decided to use that very spot to move to, to get away from the orbs that were looking to blast her as they had seemed to have already done with Ciarin. Sure, one of them did manage to get her a little bit already, but Feather wasn't wanting to chance any more.

While taking the time to get into place she called for her starknife's return. With it in hand, and a dart to accompany it for a bit, she got ready to get rid of a couple more orbs. She selected one of the two she was near, and hoped that one of her companions would take care of the other. Her other target was one that she hoped she could get rid of, to thin out their back line.

The shocks these creature had delivered her really hurt, thankfully, these creatures were easily dispatched by a knight in shining armor. She wasn't sure whether she could take this punishment again, though. But as doubt crept into her mind, Vorbrin stood besides her and told her what's up and so had Nathaniel. Her knight in shining armor dispatching two of the wretched creatures that shocked her and vorbrin lending a blessing on her. Stone cold and assured of what needed to be done only Vorbrin could be, he told everyone what's what. Her orders had been changed. Good. "Sure thing, boss," she said half-smiling as she charged forward to her next target.

Her teeth gritted, her muscles taut and a head full of anger and violence she ran up to one of the orbs, extended her hand to knock it to the ground. Her hands phased through the creature as it was disrupted and it vanished in thin air. These creatures were so unsatisfying to fight. Her eyes scanned the room. There were plenty more and the biggest of them all still just stood there. "We got this."
