I agree but it still gives you a nice idea of where they are heading with this. I like the fact that Marksman has 8 HP while Wolf has 30 even though they are "same" tier. Ranged units should be weaker in terms of HP, especially the low tier ones.

Methinks they looked too bright and shiny. The NWC style, a bit more rugged, was definitely better imo. I wish they'd return to that. They definitely had the right idea with the MMX textures and design, I wish they'd bring that to Heroes too.

No, they should have a lower melee defense than melee units. That in and of itself should lead to higher casualties among them when they end up in melee fights, not a reduced hitpoint total.

I guess it depends on town - some were better than others in H6. In general I liked art style of H6 town screens - but then some of them were no good. I didn't like Heaven in particular ... also the dungeon was way to bright and purpule for my taste. Inferno was ok ... only problem was placement of some buildings, which was odd, and it was hard to distingush some of them from background. However I personaly liked Sanctuary and Barbarian towns in particular.

In H5 Inferno was also by far the worst imo ... folowed by dungeon, while Heaven town was great, also I liked Sylvan a lot... idk why tho.

But that's only my personal opinion on artworks - like i said in another thread - they all look lifeless to me, except for the ones from "Heroes of Might and Magic: A strategic quest"

From these 2 that we saw for H7, Heaven looks to me far superior to Academy if I'm completly hornest. But then again - gameplay is far more important to me personaly than looks alone. It's nice to have good looking game i guess, but that alone can't make a good game. While i feel the oposite to be quite true, even if looks arent exactly amazing, but are atleast passable (which they always were), but gameplay is awsome, it makes for a great game.

I am talking about balance perspective, and if you give them the same HP but lower defense, that just encourages turtling as you will block your ranged units and they won't be attacked by enemy melee units.
And since you would give them the same HP, that means that even spells won't be as effective vs. them as they should. Factions with more ranged units than other factions will most likely come out ahead with turtling, which is just a bad design.

Well, the graphics that I appreciated the most were from Heroes 3. Heroes 4 already started to look more cartoonish to me and from there it's always been like that with each Heroes. However I did appreciate Heroes 5 even if it looked the way it did. Wasn't really a fan of Heroes 6.

But I hope Heroes 7 will be different and closer to Heroes 3 in that regards. So far it doesn't really look that way, but I don't mind it. I get the complaints on the blog that they want a more realistic approach but I can't see that happening. It's probably too late for a remodel at this point.

Imo H3 has the most unique look in the series, as well as most "realistic" aproach - if unicorns, dragons, and fairies have any sort of realism to them.

IMO H2 has the best atmosphere of all the series

I really miss the Glories in Haven, I mean when you compare them with the awefully bland new female crusaders that took their place they were like the most original creatures ever.

And I really hated HOMM6, so that do tells a lot.

The female haven units is by far the worst unit in the history of HOMM ever in my opinion.

How exactly is that even cool, when the glories were nothing but teleporting lightbulbs? Add to that the flashing horse and you get the reason why Heroes 6 Haven failed so much. Heroes 7 Haven seems much more down to earth.
