Which is why I provided reasons based on lore that they can use to explain skeletal liches being included back in the line-up. They can expand on that to suggest that being flesh-less is making a lich more powerful so their ranks, or part of them, have undergone this change.
Battles Marzhin can't win are not necessarily battles the Fanbase can't win. And I think the post today speaks for itself in that direction.
All for Skeletal Liches. Stop being so opposing for no reason.

seriously for a moment though, they have to wind down the horribly arrogant, stubborn attitude of "this must fit the lore, that must fit the lore" - it's abundantly clear that basically nobody except Erwan, not even Marzhin, cares about the stupid lore when it actively gets in the way of creating something cool and fun

I don't expect the visual changes to be significant enough to make Necropolis a top faction for me in H7, if they happen. But it's good they gave an official answer to the community uproar.

The problem is that skeletal liches are results of some kind of experiment gone wrong, so they are a very rare exceptions. On the other hand, Lamasus are also experiment gone wrong, so they should have gone extinct after Heroes VI. Yet they are in Heroes VII. Oh, those silly little wizards.
Besides that, I like concept of mummy liches. They can be done well if the mummy element is exposed enough.

I will never unerstand how anybody could ever mistook you for a guy :-D, Sure they can have the same name, but dare they have anything incommon in visuals

This is good news. Like most people, I'd like them to focus on the Lich and the Vampire (I think I can live with the Lamasu). The line-up itself is fine, as the Lich and the Vampire are essential creatures after all, and the abilities need not be changed, because the problem with is creatures is aesthetic (besides, we don't even know them yet).
Anyway, let's hope they can pull it off!

exceptions for the minotaurs since they all had copied portraits in h3.
