It's this kind of superficial "all the same" talk that really pisses me off; when people have this "all done" attitude and come up with generalizations that make clear they actually have no idea about why things play the way they do.
What you say is just wrong, because not only Capitol DOES make a difference, as opposed to having an UNCERTAIN number of income sources that have to be explored and flagged, it also adds a dimension when there is no clear rooster of units to play with. An example for a game with no clear rooster to play with is King's Bounty.
Not even HoMM 2 has a clear rooster to play with - except the Knight Towns - Peasants are just no good, period.
But even Barbarian... Goblins are not that bad, plus on many maps there are a lot of outside dwellings joining you. There are also neutrals that are interesting - Genies for example.
Necro may of course forego Bone Dragons completely and instead upgrade more villages to gain more Vampires ...
And so on.

And you said it yourself:

Exactly! That's where the urgency comes from. You had no idea how well you did, since you didn't know what was POSSIBLE.

But no selfrespecting mapmaker will leave you without an income source(since we don't take RMG into account) and thus there will always be s CERTAIN income(except maybe challenge maps) just from a different source.

And that aspect of the game wouldn't change at all if there were enough interesting map objects to go around and be worth claiming, but that has to do with the mapmaker tools and not much else.
My point is that it doesn't matter if you gain some pitiful 2000 gold a turn more if the map is well designed and there is an edge to be gained by being able to spend the gold on other things that the regular creatures and the buildings.
More map objects > Imagined economic warfare. Economic warfare only rarely ever ends up fun, most of the time it just meant you have to employ extra level 1 heroes to claim them back. Atleast without a different fog of war.

Also a thing to remember is that H7 will retain teritory feature, which means, you are not able to make much use of extra gold mines, unless you controll asociated town/fort.

Also - In H1, H2 and H4 you are correct, there has been more options to choose from when building army, but there has been litle of the town building decisions available (atleast in H1, I didn't play much other two, basicaly it's been more of a jump from H1 to H3 to H5 for me). Those games were unbalanced also, and were mostly single player focused. Not that this is wrong, as they were fun. I still don't see why Capitol would prevent you from having more possible dwellings at your disposal (and thus create diferent lineups). You do realize H7 will come with 2 champion creatures to choose from, and capitol has nothing to do with it.

Imo H3 had the best version of this, as Capitol required Castle to be built first. This meant you were taking risk if you go straight to economy. Fast clearing and mine taging was still crucial, and it was crucial in H5 aswell, even if capitol "only" required town lvl 15.

Here's the thing. You are on winning side, if you manage to get more resources than oponent. And to widen this gap, you realy have to go out and collect resources. There's no other way. for example: Even with capitol present, I still pick gold from chests every single time. Sure Capitol is nice, but you have to build it first. And all required buildings aswell.

I understand that having no Capitol means diferent pace and aproach to the game. And some prefer this while others don't. I remember some of my friends having similar arguments, back then when H3 first came out. One of them still to this day claims that H3 is bad game cause of that, and that it ruined the franchise (if you think about it all games after it copied that stlye, except H4). Well I disagree, as I like H3 the most of all games, next to H5.

Yep I did almost forgot about that. But we will see how much this will change. Imo it all depends to what degree will we be able to destroy them. What I mean is: Will we only destroy or in a sense "downgrade" the fort and rebuild our own, or will we be able to premanently remove the whole thing from adventure map, and make teritory neutral for the reminder of game. If latter then it would be awsome.

Yep I did almost forgot about that. But we will see how much this will change. Imo it all depends to what degree will we be able to destroy them. What i remember from video when you attack fort you destroy it completly and negate whole area control. Than you can either rebuild it in your faction style building or leave it.

Also rebuilding forts is costing resources.

It is completely destroyable. It means that after capturing a fort it is destroyed and the terrain around it becomes neutral. If you would like to, you can still rebuild it and make the area around it yours but you will have to spend a substantial amount of money and resources on it.

Well, computer recquirements haven't been presented yet but your laptop will for sure be powerful enough for youto be able to play in Heroes VII.

If you would get i5 & 2GB card it would work.

But its HoMM game so it might be fine, we need to wait and see.

i3 is probably fine. 4Gb ram is right on edge if you look at other new games, aswell as gfx card. Before spending money I would suggest to wait for minimum requierments. It's only way to know realy.

Games are ususaly not heavy tasking on procesors, graphics card with enough video ram aswell as enough system ram (and probably 64bit OS) are most important. But again I would wait, unless you plan on upgrading any way.
