Continued: so what I think would be really cool about the aforementioned chaos skill is that because there is increased variance in attack damage, there'd be a lot of anticipation at particular moments. When you land critical hits you're laughing, when it's minimum damage you're cursing the heroes gods. Makes combat exciting.

Second skill: hell gates
The hero gains a spell that costs moderate mana which allows them to create an entrance and exit portal on the combat map. The entry portal would only be able to be created in the first three rows of the heroes side of the battle map, and initially the exit portal would only be able to be created three squares away from the entry. The distance the exit portal could be placed away from the entry portal would increase as the skill level increases, but would never be able to be increased to the point it allows creatures access behind town walls. Any creature is able to go through the hell gate and come out of the exit portal however any non demon units would be given a defense debuff for doing so.

With new importance placed on creature position and flanking, this would give inferno extra flexibility in navigating the combat map and also allow creatures to use less movement points to cross it.

Third skill: gating (but revamped)
Essentially would work like reinforcements did in heroes 6. Once per turn one creature can be reinforced,(but that creature can't be reinforced again that battle) you are able to call for reinforcements from the bowls of sheogh. Percentage of reinforcement increases as skill increases, only core creatures can be reinforced initially but elites and then champs can as the skill levels. Reinforced creatures cannot be kept after battle. Any creatures killed before reinforcement are still dead unless stack is healed.
Heroes is a game of attrition. This skill helps compensate for infernos crappy defense allowing you to hold onto more of your troops during levelling, and is great for big battles as the more units there are the more reinforcements you get. Inferno units will still drop like flies as the bigger battles are waged though so it will still be able to be balanced.

These all stay true to infernos gameplay style, however allow the faction to have a skill that gives them immediate benefits as opposed to gating which takes forever and a day.

Hold onto favourite creatures such as succubi, cerebei and pit fiends, bring back the horned demons as a core tank, efreets as elites with a darker twist and tweak new cool units like the mother breeder and inferno could be a lot of fun to play. You could even make the h3 gorgon into an inferno elite unit! Bulls do tend to pop up in hellish mythology.

No doubt people will have some pretty mixed feelings about these ideas, but inferno isn't getting much love other than a vocal minority, so why not try something different

Looks like Dungeon will be all purple again, so I think I'll go Inferno. Also, I hate dark elves. Bring back old school dungeon.
