I just saw that on Steam:
Quote:

Minimum:
OS: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 - both 32/64bit versions
Processor: Intel Core2 Duo E4400 @ 2.0 GHz or AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+ @ 2.0 GHz (or better)
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: nVidia GeForce 8800GT or AMD Radeon HD2900 (256MB VRAM or more with Shader Model 4.0)
DirectX: Version 10

Recommended:
OS: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 - both 32/64bit versions
Processor: Intel Core2 Duo E6600 @ 2.4 GHz or AMD Athlon64 X2 5600+ @ 2.8 Ghz
Memory: 3 GB RAM
Graphics: nVidia GeForce 9800GT or AMD Radeon HD3870 (512MB VRAM with Shader Model 5.0)
DirectX: Version 10

Isn't it funny that HoMM3 required 32 MB RAM a "improved" version needs 2 GB?

Well, these graphics need to fit in some memory.

However, CPU requiements should be the same - overall it's the old code, with some minor extrases like Steam support.

For a newbie who only played one multiplayer game, can someone link me to a beginner's guide to playing versus humans? I finished all the campaigns but got wrecked the first time I tried to play with a human.

If you buy this, you'll be rewarding Ubi for their terrible art and not including AB and SoD.
If you don't buy this, you're telling Ubi that you don't care about the old games.

There is a third option. Given the advanced state Heroes III works now, with true HD mod by Baratorch, dozens of interface tweaks from Era/wog, gorgeous graphics from Hota: by not buying you just show UBI you don't care about UBI.

Problem with Baratorch HD mod is that while is gorgeous for adventure map, it shrinks the rest, a bad tongue would say is like postcard. I never can play higher than 1280 max else I don't see a thing, playing at 1920 is pointless. Don't misunderstand me though, I use it every time I play since I discovered it, and have greater respect for all modders of that game, who could renew my experience.

I will definitely buy this HD edition, not because I care about Ubi -I too think the franchise deserves much better treatment than what Ubi is doing- but because I love HIII. Even if I'm not sure I will play it, I will support this release.

@kyon91 : Avoid to play against competitive players which are top level and who won't let you live more than a week, invite some friend/s at your home and do some hotseat, is the best
Also, if all you did is campaign, play some single FFA scenarios, is great !

But as I said before: Slava and WoG team did it with SoD

If Ubi had a guy like Slava on their pay roll they wouldn't even knew what to do with him. It's like asking "if Olivier can make the meat taste so good why McDonalds taste like mud?"

For an iPad owner, to have the game on the tablet would the important part, the more you get used to it, the less you feel comfortable sitting on a desktop for hours. Of course, it's no substitute for actual desktop play with all modding enhancements but having a quick multiplayer game on the iPad, right before going to sleep etc would be really nice.

VCMI available for Android (though AI is too slow, but I'm positive will get fixed with time), also HII is available for mobiles and works wonders.

Yes but last time I checked VCMI wasn't properly playable, yet. It was in a beta state by all means.. It's been a while though.

The updated Adele looks acceptable, I miss her small hair but anyway she looks good enough.

However, Ubisoft pet upscalers keep amusing me with comparisons of upscales with obviously different multiplicity.

I mean, it's like you compare Heroes 1 and Heroes 2 graphics and say that Heroes 1 graphics are much better, presenting the picture of a H1 asset in a native resolution and comparing it with a H2 asset which was artificially upscaled for a non-integer multiplicity.

Of course anyone would say that H1 graphics are better. Just as planned.

A nice addition comes from DF2 Forums, where we can see a comparison of the Royal Griffins. Although it's also a not very adequate comparison, here we can see much more interesting details from the original bird which could have been spotted and used in the HD remake, but...

I just got the news straight out of my Steam browser and account.

15$ for a completely redone game with a lot of extras added in.

Once I get this copy of Heroes 3: Restoration of Erathia, I will have 2 HoMM games to choose from.

Once I get Heroes 7, sometime this Spring, I'll have 3 HoMM games to choose from.

Very first time I will have the nagging headache of asking myself this question: Now, which format of HoMM I feel like playing, today? Decisions, decisions.

Funniest part is: My oldest copy of HoMM will become Heroes 5: Tribes of the East v.3.1.

In the end, what are the things that are added to the game, besides new grapics? (I already know what is remove by not implementing AB and SoD)
