It could also be that he was also in a hurry. After all, he was about to seal Demons in Sheogh permanently, using the Skull - by performing that rite in Stonehelm. Had he completed Sar-Elam's ritual, I think even the Demon Messiah wouldn't be able to break Sheogh's walls.

Arantir isn't the type of man (imo) who would take risks in such important business. So, the best solution is to bring the body with yourself.

Yup, that's pretty much it. I'm just to come up with in-universe excuses.

Okay, I promised I'd keep away from any kind of Ashan lore, but just now I found myself buying Heroes 6 and replaying the Necro campaign. A moment of weakness, which, after this debilitating gameplay session, I don't know if I'll ever be sane again to regret. I'm at the part where "Anastasya has conquered her inner demons. By accepting her own faults that lead to the death of her father, she is now stronger than ever before.". However, I haven't seen any actual blame in her murdering Slava throughout the entire second map. All she's put on trial for is that she was a kid at an age where being a kid would be perfectly normal. So how's that connected to her father's death again? I know I probably shouldn't look so deeply into the story, but come on. How many mental gymnastics do I have to do in order to find some trace of motive that actually justifies the action I see unfolding, lol.

This is explained in Inferno and Haven campaigns - retrospection of Slava death is in one of Kiril's dreams (cutscenes).

Then I'll have to play them. Not like there's anything wrong with centering an entire campaign around the issue, where Anastasya discovers the circumstances behind the murder of her father and admits her guilt, but still failing to connect the dots, lol.

Well, you are supposed to play the 6 campaigns and Anastasya telling herself her own problems would be pretty silly and obvious exposition

I remember Marzhin posted somewhere here a proper chronological order in which you should play campaign if you want a "full" picture.
Because yeah, the story of H6 was ripped to shreds and then tossed in 5 campaigns. Which, if you don't know the order, is terrible for understanding.

Actually, I don't exactly have a script of any kind, but I was able to find most dialogscenes from H5, H6 and DM on YouTube. H6 and DM compilation seem somewhat lacking though.

I have a question about Cate's sister... how do you exactly spell her name? Deidre? Deirdre? Deidrie? I saw many different spellings. When was her name mentioned, anyway?

This.
In SoD, in the first or second map. Raelag mentions her.
And if you read the comic book, you'll stumple upon a relatively big spoiler...

From Prologue map (the first one):
Slava said:
It's a long, and complex story. We were in the Stag Duchy. One night the Elves came over the walls of Connell's castle, Cate's home. Many died, including Gerhart's fiance, Cate's twin sister, Deirdre.
But Gerhart still wanted his bride, and he claimed Cate's hand.

And speaking about Cate and her siblings:

Cate's bio said:
Cate, wife of Duke Slava, and mother to his four legitimate children, is the only surviving child of Duke Connell, of the Stag Duchy. Her brothers and sisters were all killed, or reported missing, during the war with the rebel Elf Queen Tuidhana, that took place in her homeland.
She abandoned the House of Griffin shortly after her elder daughter, Irina, was promised by Emperor Liam Falcon to Gerhart, the hated duke of the Wolf Duchy.
However, that event was not the trigger that incited her departure.
It was rather her desire to resolve the disappearance of her younger brother, Kieran.
During her travels she discovered many things including her own inner dragon, and chose to become a Dragon-Knight of Malassa, the Dragon of Darkness.
One day she hopes she will receive, if not her children's forgiveness, then at least their understanding.

Anyone who played Duel of Champions probably remember one of special heroes - Kieran, Knight of Negation (he was Windswords captain before Void twisted his fate).

I remember ^_^ He was one of the top decks back in the day... Nowadays only semi-effective Rush deck exists.
He also appears in the comic book.

In both campaigns: original one (which was scrapped) and in current one. There are differences why he joined Herald of the Void (in original he choose his own fate; in current campaign he was abducted by Gazal) but in the end he is enemy of Vein, Windswords and player.

Also I am not 105% sure if DoC's Kieran is Cate's Kieran but hints from original campaign suggests that he indeed is her lost brother.

Is there any chance of story summaries for these media? That would clear up so much...
