had the time to test it. Works fine for me too.
I just tried to sell the resources through marketplace.

It seems it was just a font issue. The calculation was done properly.

Guys check what Guise (cyrilic does not work on this forum) from the Russian forum has found:

"In this mode, you can find models for heroes, knights and some demons, several new tiles, a map that includes many objects that are hidden in the game, as well as developments in other areas. Predominantly mod designed for creators of mods as a consumable. The characters have extended biographies, and many other materials. The archive will be interesting to look through those who are engaged in mods."

There are some very nice models, that we can be included in 5.5.

It is 1.3GB archive that is been downloaded right now.
There can be some gems  inside!

Only hero models for now (if ever exist) would be a great addition
even on M&MH 6, M&MH 7 hero models sucks.

this could even bring more fans to this mod.

First of all, thanks for this great mod!

A friend dragged me to start playing HOMM5 with him, and a few weeks after we started with 5.5. What you managed with this over the base game is amazing.

Now to my questions and doubts...

I haven't managed to find a way to use hybrid heroes without feeling I could be doing better with either of the specialized classes for each faction. What's their niche? Fight Might as if you were magic and vice versa isn't working for me, so I'm doing it wrong or it has to be something else.

As for one of the hybrids, Welygg, in particular, feels like He's out of place as an assassin. Whitout access to Leadership, Golden Tongue doesn't have anything the player can do to improve upon it except just leveling up. Lurking around here I've read that GT is weaker than Diplomacy, so what's the advantage of using him instead of an overlord and rushing Diplomacy?
Would swapping him to Overlord make him too strong?

Lastly, I get it would be a bigger change upon the base game, but on Necropolis, would it be too unbalancing to give Large Shield/Shield Other to a Zombie upgrade and swapping Skele Warriors for, maybe, the Mage I saw on the NCF list or something based on that?
It is a useful skill, but I really doubt it's worth the cost of an equal amount of extra archers. Unless being new to the game is making me miss the advantage of mixing my T1 upgrades up as Necro or losing range, it feels like a wasted unit slot. Not a choice, and a waste of a skill the army could use.

Oh! Bonus question: Is NCF already compatible with RC11 or should I wait before making a mess?

heroes with golden tongue get resources and gold after every battle, most people seem to forget that part. The strength of the skill is dependent on how neutrals are set on a map making it hard to balance, but I will look at it again.

Skel warriors are strong enough, in large battles often stronger. Feelings can be deceptive, mathematics not. Also a creature without a shield cannot have a shield other ability.

I had missed that on GT, it still feels weird not being able to double up on the recruiting side*, but it looks much better if I look at it that way.

I hadn't tried Skele Warriors outside of duels, I might give them a chance if you say they're viable. The main problem I have with it is that I don't trust myself with splitting the weekly skeles properly and I lean towards Might heroes, so some range is appreciated.

Heroes 5.5 on Ubuntu!

MAJOR UPDATE!

I have successfully managed to run the Heroes 5.5 on Ubuntu 19.04!

In order to make that happen you have to use some convoluted Dark Magic tho.

The game is running smooth and stable.

There is one persistent graphical issue that has to be fixed every time you launch the game, but it's very easy to fix.

Prerequisites:
- Steam Version of Heroes of Might & Magic V: Tribes of the East
- Heroes 5.5 installed on Windows (**1**)

Steps:

1) Install Steam

2) Navigate to "Steam>Settings>Steam Play" and Enable the "Enable Steam Play for all other titles" option.
Select the latest Proton version (at the time of this post 4.2.4) for the "Run other titles with:" option. Press ok.

3) Right-click the Heroes of Might and Magic V: Tribes of the East game link on the left side of the library panel.
Press the "Set Launch Options..." button.
Paste this in without the quotes: "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%"

This will smooth out FPS in the Main Menu.

4) Navigate to the Heroes 5.5 folder (**1**) you have installed on Windows and copy ALL files to a USB drive.

On Ubuntu find the game's install folder by right-clicking the game in steam and navigating to "Properties>Local Files" and then clicking the "Browse Local Files" button.

Paste ALL of the files from the USB drive to the game installation folder and make sure to MERGE all the folders and to OVERWRITE EVERYTHING.

You can make this whole step simpler if you have direct access to the Windows folder (**1**) via Ubuntu's file manager by simply copying everything directly without the need for a USB drive.

5) THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP IN ORDER FOR 5.5 TO WORK!
Switch the names of the "H5_Game.exe" and "MMH55_64.exe" located in the "bin" folder of the game's installation folder.

That means rename "H5_Game.exe" to "MH55_64_1.exe", then rename the "MH55_64.exe" to "H5_Game.exe" and at last rename "MH55_64_1.exe" to "MH55_64.exe".

This step will enable you to run 5.5 directly from Steam, automatically running it via Proton and applying the fix #1 (step 3).

6) This is the Fix #2 that you unfortunately have to repeat EVERY TIME you launch the game.

When you load into a match the FPS will probably be TERRIBLE.
To fix this open the "Options" and go to "Video and Audio" section.
There select the "Anti-Aliasing" bar, change the value and hit "Apply".

That should instantly fix the FPS. You can also change the setting back to the value you had before and hit "Apply" again, and the FPS should still be fine.

Even if you start another match, the FPS should stay fine.

I haven't yet looked into it, but I will.
I do think it is possible with other versions of the game, it just requires a bit more digging. When I get the chance, I'll try doing it and if I succeed I'll post another guide.

I remember running a non-Steam of an earlier version of 55 in debian jessie using wine and everything worked fine except for a mouse issue with the zooming in/out. I don't remember the tweakings much but it wasn't anything eccentric as I recall. I do remember spending quite some time on it before it worked though, with these things the solution is only simple once you have it.

Yes, I intend to write a Lutris Script to automate the whole process, so that everyone can use it.

Now the issue with Zooming out still persists, but it is solved by simply using the Page Up and Page Down keys.

I used this workaround more like but didn't dig enough to fix it from the mouse (I find it tedious to use the keyboard for this action).

Let me know when the process is scripted.
I want to make it as easy and clear for the users as possible.


@Magno, remember how default MMH55 maps do not work in Multiplayer because they give RMG error when trying to join the lobby even though scripts are activated?

Some time ago we did some tests with a person from discord to see if all maps are affected:
H55-3P-Epic - failed
H55-3P-Triangle - failed
H55-4P-belt - failed
H55-4P-Chain - failed
H55-4P-Epic - failed
H55-4P-Scarce - failed
H55-4P-Square - failed
H55-4P-SquareW - failed
H55-4P-Stair - failed
H55-5-Ultima - failed
H55-6P-Epic - WORKS
H55-6P-Triangle - failed

I tried to compare 2 map.xdb files - one from the working and another from failed but I could not find the issue.

since these maps are old, they may have been processed with RTMG instead of Mapmixer.
