here are 3 replays from my game with matod.

I forgot to make replays on the first few battles so here is a quick review.
Basically he came on week 3 with armagedon and 24 spell power.

Our heroes were the same level or somewhere near but my hero highest stat was 9 xD. He plays warlock i am might hero (Necromancer the one with Tent speciality).

I forgot to save the first replay but he came and attacked me in castle.
we both died cause he armagedoned everything.

I managed to kill his hero with some luck next time but then he sent his governor warlock with 19 SP and armagedon xD, so not much to do on my side.

I wonder if it is possible to restrict building of magic levels?
like you cant build level 5 before week 4 for example. Not sure if this can be adjusted to be at least mediocrately balanced xD.

I'm not sure it's a good idea to play with governance enabled on a small map, as governors may be able to take their defense bonuses to the enemies castle.

EDIT:

On second thought, since the bonuses are lost outside 50 tile radius, many 136x136 should still fit.

Small maps + underground is always save, because another floor counts as outside the radius.

Hi Magno,

May I know if you would consider to strengthen  all hero specializations in general a bit (not in campaign) so hero specialization can play a bigger role in the early and middle stage of the game?

Well the main problem is when i cast armagedon and everything dies i have victory screen i have all artefacts experience and cau buy hero from tavern so i can storm again and again.. but not sure if its possible to change it

@Idongder: I don't fix something that ain't broken, this will introduce many new balance issues.

@Matod: Armageddon/kamikaze has been part of HOMM gameplay for a decade, but players can set the spell as forbidden, which is less than a minute work in the editor if desired.

magnomagus i agree , but difference is that in the past if everything dies and then players loose and here is that hero which cast armagedon will have victory and gets all artefacts from other defeated hero and also can be bought back from tavern and the defeated hero is lost..

If this is always true, and it can not be changed, then this "Armageddon option/strategy" must be taken in consideration when making game balance tweaks. But also it needs to be taken in consideration when creating/playing PvP maps.

I think this is up to players to decide. I will create a list of rules to make the game more equal for both players For example "if a player kamikadze a Armagedon hero and wins he is not allowed to buy him back".
it will be up to both players if they want to use them or not.

It is not coincidence that tournaments has names as "Tournament of Honour". Such names make those games stand out of the rest because players that participate in them voluntarily deprive themselves of using filty unbalanced tactics for the sake of the equality of the mind VS mind challenge. Thus the winner of such tournaments should be considered a person of great honour and a mastermind of the realm.

I think i got off too much with the romantic stuff but more or less this is the representation of the idea.

If you play for fun sure.. go ahead smash some armegedons, but if you play to define skill this is another talk.

I agree with you Dredknight. I would never play a game against a player without first setting those rules of honor. And I would never use anything that the other player considers to be not honorable. That is why I said it needs to be considered before creating/playing PvP game.

But you see, are my Blackies vulnerable to my Armageddon? Is my expert occultism "working" on my creatures?

Can i install RC4a over RC3, or do i need to uninstall RC3 and/or TOE and Heroes V and reinstall them all first?

Uninstall the RC3 mod, there is uninstal.exe fire in the main heroes directory that does just that. Then install the new version on top.

Belisarius, Occultism work for all creatures in the battle including yours.  It even penetrates the magic resistance gained by specialisations,perks and artifacts. This is the price you pay for huge magic boost. It is working like this since Tote

Yep, one of the main reasons, Dungeon was so unbelievable weak. Not only were the troops expensive, few and barely better, nope, you couldn't even do the Blacky + Armageddon trick. Cause all your heroes started with Occultism by default.

I didn't have problems with Raelag or Ylaya in campaigns. Dungeon is good, when you know how to play with them.

Firstly appreciate for the amazing mods.It is almost a new game!
I have addicted it for weeks.Thanks again for the pleasure that you bring to us and the efforts you 've spent on it.

And I have some questions on the inatial skills of heroes. Death knight ,for example,Orason,Vladimir,Lucretia and Xerxon. they all start with basic combat,bascic necromancy and revenage attack.The difference among them is only speciality. Reaver and Nec also have this problem. Most of them are so similar.

I think it is hard to develop abundent tactic with the same inatial skills. I prefer heroes with different skills so that every heroes may represent a kind or more of tactic.The origiinal version did better on this point. Every hero is unique. If a hero start with a skill that he can not learn in the update, such as a reaver start with light magic, it would be perfect! The game will kill more time.

@dredknight: have you encountered this same issue before with demo maps? I'm starting to think maybe only .h5m file maps should be used in LAN?

@jjyhero: the current system favors flexibility, because only this way you are not cut off from ANY skill you possibly want to learn.

We did everything from this troubleshooting guide. But I am not sure about checking 8 skills before loading saved LAN game. Regardless, everything was fine for few turns before this happened.

This may happen because you have not cleared index.bin and RMG template folder in data only. May be you installed the mod over Tote 3.0.
Did you installed the 3.1 patch before installing the mod?

8th skills desync only breaks the skill set, we never had such issues because of it.

Oh... and there is one more thing that may be causing it.
You have issues in your network. Disable all firewalls is a must!

Do you play next to each other (LAN) or use some kind of software (hamachi or tunggle)?

Maybe that is a bit much if it already was a fresh install with patch 3.1. I think it would be good thing first to compare the data folders and map folders from your PC and your friend and see if there is any difference that could have caused the desync.
