If my secondary is given a choice Eye or Learning my choice would go for Learning most of the time. Hoping to get just little faster expert wisdom or air, even if it's 1-2 battles but as i don't battle whit secondaries that much little help is welcomed. If it's pure town defender and nothing good in mage guild or low level then maybe Eye.

It's mather of personal taste really. In paper Eye is better and Learning somewhat useless, granted. I just don't like low changes. Example if my sword would do 2 damage per hit and my axe 5 damage per hit but whit 50% accuracy, i would pick sword anytime even if it's not mat wise perfect choice. They both suck that's it.

If my main is getting the same question dumb or dumber? I'll ask: Can we load last autosave?  ...No? Okay

There is a difference between worst and useless. Mysticism is not useless, but is it better or worse than Scholar? Or Eagle Eagle to me is more useful than Learning too, but many seem to think about Eagle Eye as the "worst".

This only means you picked the bad main hero class and will serve as lesson for next games.

Eagle Eye can be useful in some cases. It might be your only way to get some important basic spells like slow or haste.

Learning is completely useless. It will give you one stat point for three skill points.

Don't know the exact % for might hero, maybe zero. Plus all your secondaries should be expert then. We can say you have @€$%₩ up your build if that where the case. Hey i know, it's random town/hero whit impossible now i can hide whit no shame

Not exactly. Dimis already talked about this in his thread about the frequency of exceptions for Wisdom and Magic Schools: each game seams to have certain paterns of development for each hero. In some tests I did it was frequent a demoniac to have a lot of magic stuff offered in one session while almost just might skills on another. I even tried to develop a Crag Hack with Advanced Armorer instead of Offense and once couldn't get Offense offered (that time I end up with the three available magic schools) and I remember to saw a game from Maretti where Crag endup with Scouting and First Aid. So, a bad experience with some class (mine is Logistics and Knights) is not sufficient to decide if this might class sucks or not and why. Besides hundreds of hours of experience the only thing that really helps is to have the table of secondary skills destribution opened when you're playing, something I saw some very good players doing from time to time.

BloodSucker check these out secondary advancement

Might is the only way to go my friend

EDIT: Oh i tough Learning where more magic oriented but seem for both excluding Alchemist Still even if it's that high, not much have forced to take that skill, even by them.

Yeah, that's the table I was talking about. But I already found some posts criticizing it. Some points aren't exactly as they look, namely cause of the exceptions. It doesn't matter if your chance for wisdom in that table is 1, you will always find it at level 6 if not before and same goes for magic schools at level 4.

P.S. But that table isn't right, just see the points for necromancy and as far as I know, Warlocks can't gain Water Magic, even if this may be a late bug or something.

So, Learning has been proven to be the most useless, if that's even a correct sentence

And if people dislike a skill more, that's opinion.

Edit: I suppose there is a small use for Learning, but I would never waste that slot on a main hero.

Also about learning and comparing HoMM with MM, note that in MM the only thing that limits the amount of skill you have is the specific character class (and money). No 8 skill limit or similar, and I imagine if there was such a limit, it could be that in some cases one might opt. out of going for learning. Perhaps with a Druid or something along those lines.

Sorry for reviving my old thread, but I have given a lot of thought in this, but haven't reached a conclusion yet.
I am really unhappy with the Learning skill and it is pretty much just a wasted skill slot, which even almost forces you to pick XP from chests, which is not always a good idea.

So I considered disabling Learning and removing Learning from the following 7 heroes who starts with it:
Moandor - Death Knight
Xsi - Necromancer
Merist - Witch
Loynis - Cleric
Darkstorn - Warlock
Calid - Heretic
Kalt - Planeswalker

Now the above heroes are all pretty bad due to Learning, except Loynis with that awesome Prayer spell and speciality.
So in a way I feel like he deserves to be stuck with a crap skill like Learning, but in another way I feel like he should start with the same skill as the other 6 heroes. But maybe Learning could be replaced by another skill? For Loynis it would perhaps make sense if he had Scholar, since Castle don't have a Scholar. Same with Merist and Kalt, but they don't have a rare spell like Prayer. Inferno and Dungeon already got plenty of Scholars and Necropolis has Septienna...
Or should they start with something else?

Your thoughts?

Learning may be very good spell. I suggest boost it:
+25 %
+60 %
+100%
2X  experience! That is power!

How about giving a Hero Learning specialty? For every level of the Hero, increases the Learning skill by 5%. Yes, I guess this would mean a new special has to be created, no clue how difficult that is, given the constraints.

In HotA they have Kinkeria, a new Witch, who specialises in Learning, doubling it's effect, still a bad hero though.
The Learning speciality is interesting though, but it's still bad. This will also not help heroes starting with Learning or give an incentive to ever choose Learning.

I dont know. If hero have speciality ad 5 % to level of something. And if I replace this speciality to learnig, maybe it will be work without big game code changes?

It all depends on the map. This could give them an advantage to level up much more quickly. Sounds quite good for smaller maps.

But what can they use those few extra xp for?, to level up Learning asap and miss out on Earth Magic and Logistics and all they gain in the end is 1 stat point and a wasted skill slot...

Remember, I did say it is useful for smaller maps. Tactics such as using more heroes to cover more ground still apply.

Besides, it doesn't hurt to have a bit more primary skills, especially before your opponents do.
