Is it possible to make ballista and cannon retaliate, just like a normal unit? (Ammo should be consumed at retaliation.)

Is it possible to always have control over the First Aid Tent, without First Aid skill?

Is it possible to have Fire Wall always be 3 hexes wide and 8 Land Mines always be placed regardless of Fire Magic skill?

Is it possible to change default morale from +1 to 0?

Does anyone know how to remove Accurate Shot from Sea Dogs?

I would be very happy, if anyone could answer one or more of the above.

I've run into some trouble editing the tiers of creatures. My hack swaps the tiers of Gnolls and Flies, but not being able to edit building dependencies means that the Serpent Hive still requires the Gnoll Hut. Further, as the original 1st-levle dwelling, the Gnoll Hut is the one to be automatically built most times when you enter the town.

But perhaps most importantly, changing their tiers renders them unable to upgrade in town, even when the upgraded dwelling exist. This seems to be some weird hard-coded function of the dwellings themselves as evidenced by Conflux. As we all know, Ice, Magma, and Energy Elementals all have a bug wherein they are listed as the incorrect tier, which differs from that of the base unit. If these problems are fixed, the same results will be seen there.

Any thoughts?

One small issue here is that the targeting seems hard-coded to friendlies; if any of these spells are set to offensive ones, these creatures will target your own party. Is there a way to fix this?

In HotA (at least, I don't remember that in SoD or AB), at least the lava terrain has an underground battle background.

Has anyone ever attempted to impose daily unit upkeep costs? Would it be difficult to make some sort of code that takes some fraction of the total kingdom army stregnth and deduct it in gold?

Is it possible to make unflagged dwellings start growing creatures from W1D1 (or any given date)? I understand that assigning them to a "dummy" color is a kind of workaround, but in all-human-player maps that wouldn't work.

What possibility is there that someone can give troops player color in H3? The highlight in the sprite has the same yellow as the one used for the color mask on adventure map, and that's why I'm asking. It's impossible without changing the code, right?

So, I saw this and figured that it might hold the key to changing the requirement for expert-level magic to basic or advanced for all other spells. The surrounding code for this address holds the values:

FA 01 7E

Not too far above it is this code:

FA 02 7E

I think that 02 might be our answer. I'm not in a position where I can test it, but if someone else wants to give it a whirl...

I have'nt tested it and though it could be a good idea for expensive spells, such as Macic Mirror and Counterstrike, remember that some units, like Master Genies, also cast these spells. So unless you want Master Genies to cast mass spells, it's probably best not to mess with this.

You can edit the magic school expertise of those units, so that's not a problem.

For Good Morale, I think you can try:

Looks like the luck function is handled through hota.dll so you're not getting an easy fix (because of bad luck which was not originally implemented).


Assuming we're working with SoD, do those values also apply to (positive) Luck? Or is luck also handled elsewhere in SoD?

I kinda miss Galthran in HotA, but he is too strong in his default form.
I was wondering if it is somehow possible to divide his skeleton bonus by 2 or otherwise nerf it?
There is of course the possibility of giving him a static skeleton bonus, but I dislike static bonusses and it seems it's not possible to add +1 speed here either?

By the by... you were asking about getting the AI to use Berserk?

Some things you can try:

287405: 14 -> 86 (or 96)
287406: 04 -> 00

Try either one of these on their own or together. May give you the desired behavior, may do nothing at all.

AI already uses Berserk in HotA, would be cool if it could use Remove Obstacle, Fire Wall, Land Mine, Quicksand, Force Field and Scuttle Boat though.
