No but you just don't get the point, its either meant to be a spiritual sequel to the game from 1991 or the previous games started with The Legend, and I bet it fall squarrely in the second option
thanks for the trick, I always wondered what was the point with these loosie shoes...

Spiritual successor, but the only similarity is that you have some army and tactical battles, and even there you have a limit of 12/stack.

Well, I think this game might be good, but I don't know how much to think of it as a KB successor.

I think it's great, especially hearing creatures can gain XP and level up. They've reconciled limited stacks with leveling up, so the window for balancing is more manageable, things won't spiral out of control and even early game stacks won't become obsolete during the late game. It's something I've argued for a lot with regards to Heroes, I'm really interested to see how it plays out.
Mana being finite is a decision they made for story reasons? That could be okay in the end, but depends how they implement it. World and combat designs are linked together anyway, they happen on the same engine, so it makes sense. I just hope it's not forced with backfiring consequences.

I very much doubt it will be 12 unit limit per stack for every single types of units, I think it will depend on the type of creature, creature level, etc...

Uh, I don't really doubt that.... I mean, they revealed in a private interview on a Russian blog that there will be 12/stack only, and dragons will have some special kind of recruitment.

But that's what they decided to do, clear and loud. They said you will have to constantly change your army and such instead of accumulating huge numbers of starting units.

I likely will. It certainly doesn't look bad, just different. I would have wanted the traditional KB game with a fresh start but this game looks fun either way.

I really hope it'll be a good game, and even though I'm a hardcore fan of the old KB games (to the point of having played them all several times on impossible no-loss runs haha), I am very well looking forward to KB2; I mean, without the original writer, even a bonus game in the older series.... yeah, probably not (now, if only that guy would have come back to expand the story.... oh boy). And it's also more like a spin-off to me, so yeah. Not gonna get over-excited though, us HoMM players should know well at this point to not do that to begin with lol.

I picked it up. The gameplay videos have been looking good. Looks like they kept in a ranking system for the units like from warriors of the north, which is my favorite entry in the series because of that feature.
My first experience with the series was a PlayStation 2 game that was actually titled Homm, but it was a remake of The first King’s bounty game. Totally worked for the console and I wanted to get KB2 for the switch..but the switch is old now and I don’t want lag and frame drops. Wish I had a ps5...
