There's still a few hours until it actually releases. And it has Denuvo DRM, so.... I'm probably not gonna buy it with that.

I requested a refund as well. I was convinced in the first 15 minutes of gameplay that it's not worth the price tag. Clunky controls, graphics look outdated on ultra, narration/character interaction not compelling at all. Sure, that's surface level, but I'm not waiting around to find justification for a €60 purchase.

I picked it up for the ps4. Read enough positive reviews that convinced me.While it’s definitely not worth the Triple A price tag, I’m having fun with it so far. Not following the story, much like old KB, so I’m skipping the atrocious voice acting and awkward cut scenes. Underneath it is a decent strategy game. It was clearly made for the console. 40 dollars would have been a fair price I think. Would gladly trade in all the mediocre voiced dialogue and in game cut scenes for a few more units to command.
Will give a full review when I finish it.

Yup it looks that way  although I'm like that with most games now. Can't even remember the last time I played a day 1 game.. probably Skyrim on 11/11/11 I think.

I’ve been pretty addicted to this since I picked it up. The negative reviews are definitely too harsh. This isn’t a triple A game and maybe it tried to do too much but the game is enjoyable and keeps me interested.
The combat is challenging and the game doesn’t give you infinite amounts of creatures to buy. You have to keep them alive if you don’t want to run out of creatures to hire or gold. The magic system from past games is similar with mana crystals being spent to learn spells. How your character completes quests determines what talents points you have available to spend when leveling up. I already want to play again when I finish and do a paladin main. The creatures all rank up twice as they gain exp in combat, and they look different and sometimes get new abilities as they rank up — i really like this feature.
Overall it’s a good time. Don’t let below average animations and graphics keep you from playing this if you’re interested in it. Again, not a Triple A title. They focused their resources where it mattered imho. They’ve got updates announces and are listening to feedback from what I read so Ill give them credit.

The main reason for such low reviews is because it's not a King's Bounty game, and the fans dislike/didn't know that (even though the devs of KB2 repeatedly said KB2 will be very different).

That's good to know, I'll definitely have to pick it up after an expansion/dlc/whatever they're called these days.

The game is amazing. It definitely doesn't deserve all those negative comments (mostly from newbies to the TBS genre who expect the game to be on par with the Witcher 3 visually, for example). I spent 110+ hours and I must say I enjoy the tactical depth of combat. The only drawback is that it feels like I'm playing on Easy. Hope, we'll see difficulty levels implemented in the near future. And yes, it's a KB game, the spirit of the series is in situ.

I lurk around sometimes still and pop up every now and then, I will add my 2-cents since I picked up a copy of the game as well.
I would rate it a 7/10 personally, I enjoy it less then the King's bounty the legend games and follow-ups of those and less then Homm 3/5, however it still is a fun game.
What does tho is that I bought it for the Nintendo switch, so it is basically a game that I play as a handheld, for this reason graphics and such don't matter as much. The 'overworld' part is a bit mundane (although pretty at some places) but travelling is soooo slow which is annoying.
Battles are pretty enjoyable tho (although pretty fast it will be easy for most Heroes Veterans). There are a couple of interesting spells and artefact sets.
Like in the very first kings bounty your teams morale is based on the creatures in your party, items and skills offset bad morale but it kinda forces you to get creatures of one faction. Something that is really cool is that your creatures can be rank 1-2-3 and will change appearance as they grow stronger.
for me it is the saving grace I can play it as a handheld on the switch, it would probably be to slow for me to play it on the pc, but I already sank 25 hours into it, haven't finished the story yet and still enjoy it
