Been making a LOT of progress lately, learning more about hacking the game faster than I can process it. Finally managed to update the beta and (mostly) finalize the Readme, so please have a look if you want to know what's going on.

Still haven't done snow with HotA and am quite frankly dreading it. Will maybe look into it after I update my hacking guide again.

Going through the Readme I must admit that a lot of work went into this modification and all this is done with hex editing.
It is nice to see that I agree with most of the changes, to me it seems that when you have played that game long enough, all changes strive towards the same result. I can say that because a lot of changes you made are also in some way or the other present in my mod. Discussion in the HotA suggestion thread go in a similar direction. That corroborates my thesis that in the unmodified H3 game a lot of mechanics are oddly underdeveloped for some reason.

Work in game design long enough and you'll start to see unrealized potential everywhere you look. HoMM3 is actually one of the most well developed and thought-out commercial games out there, at least for its time.

I know. Playing certain games is just depressing at times knowing all of this stuff. Hence the potential of H7, which turned out to be... meh...

Major update. I've combined the Ballistics and Artillery skills and reintroduced Diplomacy (which has been nerfed down to an acceptable level). I've also rebalanced the stat-boosting artifacts and reintroduced several that I'd removed (Elixir of Life, Wizard's Well, etc.) now that I possess the ability to edit them. Finally, I tweaked fight and creature AI values according to the following formula:

FIGHT VALUE: HP*10 + (ATK * SPD * (Tier -1))
AI VALUE: Fight Value + (DEF * MaxDamage)

(NOTE: the neutral dragons use "MaxDamage" in place of (Tier -1))

So far as updates go, we're about finished at this point. All I have left to do is edit campaign maps to fix anything my changes have broken, figure out how to disable banned skills from appearing in Witch Huts, and look over the cosmetic stuff (Hero Bios and Tavern rumors). A huge thanks to everyone who's played and helped me out thus far o/
