0 spell points? Isn't it a bit much to make them a freeby? Basically they act as a skill even though skills are much harder to get than spells. 2 spell points would be fine. Also makes mysticism more crucial

August 7th update has a lot of snow to the point I've lost track of them all. The big changes are better market rates (for artifact,creature, and resource trading), movement-boosting map objects can now be visited once per day,  as well as several new creature abilities.

Some highlights of the new creature abilities:

Pikemen get a better DEF boost when defending and Halberdiers get first-strike retaliations when doing so

Archmagi dispel positive statuses with their shots

Upgraded Skeletons have the "rebirth" ability when killed (I intend to edit the formula for this after some consideration)

Wraiths create Wights (until end of battle) from slain enemies

Minotaur Kings gain +3 ATK (cumulative) for every strike they make that does not kill target stack)

Shouldn't the Minotaur King buff be capped (eg. max 3 times)? Or it caps to the point of killing the respective creature stack?

Finally managed to finish up another map - and it's a doozy. Took the old "A Viking We Shall Go" map and turned it into a grail quest.

Easier said than done, I'm afraid. The way HotA applies itself adds a whole new layer of complication to all of the hacks that I've made.

Glad you like it, though! I'll need to post a small update tomorrow. As expected, I found a few small issues with the new map after some playtesting.

I wish the HotA team would stop hoarding their Goddamn knowledge instead of making everyone else figure everything out for themselves, but hey.

Anyway, fixed a few issues with the new map I found in testing last night. I'm sure there will be more to come >.>

At this point, all of the major changes are in and I have six solid playable maps, so it's time to start pushing people to actually play this thing and see if there's anything broken. If the game crashes immediately on loading, make sure you have an up-to-date version of HD mod (they recently moved some addresses around in the .dll file that I edit).

The name (and logo) is an homage to AM2R, or "Another Metroid 2 Mod", which is easily the greatest fan-made game I have ever played.

So, just a short list of what all has been done in these last few updates...

Fixed several crashes

Units no longer dealing more damage than intended when retaliating

Rewrote turret (AKA arrow tower) damage formula; damage now depends solely on type of town

Town wall durability now varies both by section and town type

Combined Wizard eye now acts as a combination of View Air/Earth spells

Den of Thieves (map object) now grants expert-level Clairvoyance (AKA "Visions") until end of turn

Magog fireball explosion now respects fire immunity

Garrisons now act as forts (i.e. they provide defensive walls)

Bless/Curse spell specialists now function correctly

Towns now look north instead of south for a coastline (for Shipyards/Lighthouse)

Fixed Castle Lighthouse bug

Libraries and Arenas to require combined stat totals of Attack/Defense (Arenas) or Knowledge/Magic (Libraries) of 10 instead of level 10

Diplomacy now gets second sympathy point from hero alignment instead of army majority

Digging for the grail now requires finding every obelisk (player and AI), but no longer requires that you have not yet moved that turn

Trading Posts, Black Markets, and Freelancers' Guilds on the map now offer rates equal to the number of markets you control plus one instead of a static rate

Corpses on the map now have a 50% chance of giving gold and 50% of an artifact

Peasants can now be added to any army without causing a mixed faction morale penalty

Elementals are all now treated as the same tier by Hill Forts and spell specialties, as well as when appearing as random stacks on the map

Sirens now offer twice the amount of experience as before per HP of unit lost, plus a baseline bonus of 1,000. Loss rate from 30% to 50%.

Two taverns are no longer required to see approximate number of defenders when right-clicking on enemy towns

Fixed HD Mod bug where weekly growth bonuses would sometimes override month bonuses

Sir Banned to no longer appear on random maps

Witch Huts on random maps no longer claim to teach PENIS in right-click text

Printme now fully properly formatted for printing

Edited installer to no longer overwrite HD_SOD.dll if HD mod has been updated

Installer now uses Grayface's LOD merge and no longer takes a lifetime to install

Just few thoughts :
- You fixed crashes ? Let them all players likes them ! ^^
- You removed or replaced view Air/earth spells then ? Because they are powerful and easy to have and for "few mana points" ?
- I find very nice the firball don't affect fire immune units !
- For libraries, I find 10 for stats is maybe a bit dangerous... If by mega luck you get one of overpowered magic item/relic who gives you tons of stats (+4 to all stats) in a corpse or tomb, you might have the library bonus' extremely fast in game ? Maybe put it to 12 ? Or give +1 to all stats (who is still very powerful).
- For grail it means "puzzle map" have no more intrest now as you'll need to see all to search ?

Corpses and Shipwreck Survivors no longer have that random chance of giving you major or relic artifacts, so no real chance of that. Tombs are strictly major and relic artifacts, but are more well-guarded as a result.

To anyone playing this at the moment, sorry for the constant updates, but we're currently in the bug-squashing phase of development and I've bee finding some obscure crashes as I've been playing.

AH3M currently has 6 complete single maps and the random map generator working with no (apparent) bugs. The official campaigns will take more work and I don't feel like delaying getting something official out until I can work through them all. I thus intend to officially release version 0.1 in the coming weeks after I'm satisfied all of the bugs have been worked out.

I'd also like to add more single maps in the future, at least 12-16 total, but there's a good deal of variety in what's in there already.
