Best level 4 HC creatures
Hi!
I'm sorry, I'm late, but ok
Yes tough question, when I see all level 4 creatures are good. Think about pros and cons couldn't be true. Ok I showing you:
Castle level 4: Damage, but slow, so I don't think noob players use Crusaders but they save losses, meant doesn't move or hold a defensive position, and then they strike enemy piece. Of course dumbed player or AI opponent is attacking your other piece. Using wait and attack.
Rampart level 4: Speed, 5 pegasi vs 1 unicorn, for example, but low damage, when Grand Elves do 3-5 (×2), for example, thus Blessing or Golden Bow..
Tower level 4: Strong, but you see Arch Magi guarded Crystal Cavern (mine) on the grass, it looks like summer Santa Claus is an easy opponent.
Inferno level 4: Good damage and HP, but slow, thus Arch Magi kill demons also the un-upgraded is.. by Lord Pits, you get horde between throng of demons in 3DO maps. And using a Teleport spell, but Water skill.
Necropolis level 4: An easy creature, but Crusaders. I vote Vampires.
Dungeon level 4: When 1 gnoll vs 1 Medusa Queen. Can you guess? Only Magic Arrow, so over-OP opponent, Medusas can't get damage to over-OP opponent, thus melee is much better before Medusa's 8 arrow shots are used.
Stronghold level 4: Slow but HP and damage also 13 attack value. I recommend you cast a Haste or Teleport or first enemy kill your Orges, if you don't move your Thunderbirds and/or Ancient Behemoths, for example. So enemy casts Berserk 
Fortress level 4: Good, but smiling monster and swamp sounds mystery. Yes Archers kill Basilisks, and Basilisks kill Griffins. Maybe 7 speed isn't enough.
Conflux level 4: Armageddon but low damage, and you can also cast a Ice Bolt to Fires and Energies. You can't resurrect them, what do you can do Armageddon, thus 10 per week and 8 speed are your hand.

Exactly.
There's sadly no competition here, the vampires can handle most of the early battles by themselves without any losses, and that goes really nicely with skeleton harvesting.
It's not often being talked, but for some reason the Vampires also get +10 hp when upgraded. I wonder if letting out this buff would have made the Vampires more tame early on, now they can constantly go boom on week 2 nearly every game.
Second place obviously goes for Crusaders, but the fight from the third place is where it gets kinda interesting, as one could argue between multiple creatures.
Can't really tell which creature here is worst, but the most bland design goes without a doubt for Horned demons. I get that you could potentially get a big stack of them, but come on, you could have given them at least something!

So easyyyyy! Vamps. I suggest best creature if you cant say vamp.
I think that ogres are powerfull plus spell. And ofcourse Crusaders.
5lvl is easy too...

Noes, Vampires are the most expensive creature means the best, even if stats showing you:
Crusader 12 att/def vs VL 10 att/def (1-0), Crusader 7-10 (×2) damage vs VL 5-8 damage (1-0), Crusader 35 hp vs VL 40 (0-1) and Crusader 6 speed vs VL 9 speed (0-1).. A little -5hp.. Specialities? You knew Double attack vs Flying, no enemy retaliation, Life drain, noes undead, when Morale is much better. VL's benefits are speed, no enemy retaliation and life drain vs Crusaders. So vampires wait and attack, teleport or return, but Crusader gets Prayer, Haste or Teleport, so hoping for good morale, and amen! Elite III said! Remember Knights have Tactics, and first Archangels, when spell what..
Why I voted Vampires? Today I'm lazy in Tactics.. and Vampires are an easy creature kill every

But in one weeks, you get a Vampires, and Basiliks are difficult to build a dwelling, when Capitol is a very important, thus a few creatures must be lost Ok, think about Bron with a few more creatures vs an easy Vampire creature can't lose any, an example of horde between throng Skeletons, 3 VLs, 3-6 Liches + First Aid + some spells vs horde of Battle Dwarves guarded by Sawmill or Ore Pit, your scout hero will beat them, and your Basiliks can't do the same.. You need Lizardwarriors, etc but it pays many weeks..

Vampires always looked and felt powerful in Heroes games, until HoMM 5. Even wielding a sword seemed to diminish them somehow. In H4, you even had a spell to transform a unit into a vampiric-being, to show how bad-butt it was.

But with Bron you can creep early, defeating weak level 1-2 guards and getting treasures, XP and resources. Also if you are fortress, early wyverns. With vampires you can't do that. Therefore Bron may have the upper hand in early engagements. Another thing is the Hota-less unbalanced necromancy, tho.

Vampire lord is the obvious answer. Energy elemental has got to be the worst. The speed and flying ability are nice, but 4-6 damage is a value for a level 3 monster. Then ice vulnerability can really hurt, because almost everyone can cast ice bolt. I guess demons aren't much better, but I think I'd chose 10 horned demons over 10 energy elementals at the start of a game.
Everything in between those three is more interesting.
I'll go with this:
1. Vampire Lord
2. Crusader
3. Arch Mage
4. Medusa Queen
5. Ogre Mage
6. Greater Basilisk
7. Silver Pegasus
8. Horned Demon
9. Energy Elemental
Crusaders have the lowest hp of all upgraded melee level 4 monsters, but everything else about them is very good (speed is average).
Arch mages have slightly better values than medusa queens. Reduced mana cost can be very useful.
Ogre magi have highest hp and highest damage, but are slow.
Greater basilisks have solid stats overall, but also aren't shining at anyting.
Pegasi are quick but deal low damage and die easily.

Pegasi and Energy Elemental have higher growth though. Pegasi are also superfast.
