Some things regarding HCM

Perhaps you could implement a feature which might go like this:

People with 0 qps have normal limit of 40 max hcm messages.
People with +3 qps have a limit of 60 max hcm messages.
People with +8 qps have a limit of 80 max hcm messages.
People with +15 qps have a limit of 100 max hcm messages.
People with more than +25 qps have a limit of 120 max hcm messages.

Same would go for penalized members as follows:

People with -3 qps have a limit of 30 max hcm messages.
People with -6 qps have a limit of 20 max hcm messages.
People with -8 qps have a limit of 10 max hcm messages (from my knowledge when you get -8 qps aren't you banned?)

This would cancel out the effect of slow down from the amount of max hcm messages, like the lesser hcm max messages for penalized people may cancel out the slowness of the people that may have 100 max hcm messages.

This might be asking a little too much, because of slowness within the system and forum, but it would be a good idea anyway

Another idea could be that if you delete a hcm stored message but the member isnt online and you have no other hcm's sent by that member, if you delete their only hcm they sent you, that you would have an option to quickly send them another, or reply.
Because I have seen that when you delete a message it comes up with "message has been deleted" and you cannot send another message, but perhaps you could change that Valeriy?

Another thing could be flood protect with sending HCM's.
This wouldn't apply to people that have 0 qps or more, but would only apply to penalized members such as myself, Trogdor, and countless others.
Perhaps flood protect wouldn't be as high as 120 seconds for each hcm you want to send but could be maybe 30 seconds waiting time to be able to send another message.

Perhaps another thing could be a "ignore" or "block" user button.
How that would work is like this:

A member has been bothering you, well you can, via HCM, be able to block or ignore which users can send HCM's to you.
This would of course disable you sending messages to that particular user, but if a user has been bothering you with HCM's, this buttong could prove usefull, in that, that member might learn a lesson and not annoy you with pointless HCM's.

Also the "Time for Big Boom" does not work while using Mozilla Firefox, perhaps this could be changed, as Mozilla Firefox is my main browser, and I hardly often use IE, but I have to now so I can delete all my HCMs with one click of a button.

I have also seen that while using IE and I have to reactivate HCM, I click on reactive and the page automatically refreshes, showing me the people online, well the page doesn't refresh but the people online refreshes.
This does not happen while using Mozilla Firefox, if I wanna reactivate, I click on reactivate, and then nothing happens, so I have to click on refresh the page, which may take some time, and then I can see the people online.
How come the people online does not automatically refresh when I click on reactivate?

Some ideas for the forums

Here are some ideas for the forums:

Restirct the amount of smilies used per post.
Could restrict a user from only using about 10 or 15 or 20 smilies per post that they make.
Would save space and also not take up loading time for the internet browser to load (could be good for dialup users).

A widening fix.
I have often seen threads being widened by posts from members which cause the trhreads/tables to widen, and often is quite annoying for members to have to scroll heaps and heaps just to see a simple post.
Perhaps this can be fixed?

A minimum letters in posts thing.
Make it so that you have to make a certain number of characters/letters in a post.
Would reduce spam, by disabling the use of one word posts, perhaps you could make it so that this feature only works in the serious forums and not work in VW (as one word story is in there).
It would disable users making pointless posts such as "yes" or "no" or even this ""
I have seen it being done alot and it is rather annoying to see spam like that being made.
And as I said you could make it so that it works on every forum except VW.

20 posts in 24 hours.
Maybe you could make it so that this only works for every other forum except for VW, because that is where alot of posts are made, and most of them are spam anyway.
Make it so that you can make more than 20 posts in VW and a max of 20 posts in every other forum.
Would make people a little more happier I guess

Font, underline, italics etc in Mozilla Firefox.
I often try and highlight a selcted word and then click on one of the things at the side, for example:

I highlight spam, and then try to make it bold by clicking on the B symbol.
With Mozilla Firefox it does not work, and it erases the word and then puts the bold code in with nothing in it.
Instead I have to type the code because Highlighting the word and then trying that doesnt work with Mozilla Firefox.
It also happens when I try to make the word in italics, underline it, and try to change the font colour, strikethrough or change the font style, it doesn't work through Mozilla Firefox when I try and hgihlight them, so maybe this could be fixed as it annoys me a little bit at times.

Also how about Flood Protect goes down a little bit for each Post Rank you get, like if you are supreme hero then your flood protect might go down by 10 or 15 seconds.
This is just a thought.

Well these are my current thoughts here at HC, and feel free to discuss them and giv me some feedback or whatever

WOW William...

wow.

Limit the number of smilies

Anyway, I was wondering if you had found out why the HC server keeps crashing, and if they are working towards fixing this?  It seems to be happening more often.  HC crashes in about 5 minute bursts, randomly, and usually when you least expect it

Is there some button in modsquad that you guys push for entertainment?

when you click post reply you see all the emoticons, and using multiples of one is nearly similar to using one.

Edit: by the way I feel we should implement the annoy kooka button for regular members.

William if you're concerned about using your 20 posts in the VW maybe you should post less in the VW. That's the point of the 20 post rule.

The point of the 20 post rule is to cut down on spam in other forums, not just VW (well that's my theory).
But it is stupid having that rule apply in VW, because your posts are going to get deleted anyway, eventually anyway
And VW is "major spam" area, so what's the point of having the 20 post rule apply to the VW aswell?
Does not make sense to me.
I understand why the rule applies to every other forum but not to the VW.

i just thought of this idea. well basically it is like this "thread" that each member has in thier profile page. its more of a place to put comments then to chat. so each member will have one of these and it can be a place to post the "happy bdays" for that person or to congratulate them on a recent achievement (HC achievment like a red star or something in RL)

the place would be more formal (as in spamming) than the VW but not has formal as other forums. this might loosen the amount of VW threads

edit: there may have been a slight mis interpretation. its not a whole other forum for the member, just a single thread on the profile page

that's a pretty good idea PC but they would have to be pinned to  not be deleted and because there are so many members the whole board will fill up pretty quick with threads

I just thought of something regarding the avatarlist.

Would it be possibe to be able to select your avatr straight from the avatrlist?

Like you go into the Avatarlist, and then you just click on the avatar you want, provided ofcourse that it has not been reserved by someone else, and you can then have that as your avatar?

Is this possible?

Perhaps being able to reserve avatars as your own would also be possible, but you would have had to have that particular avatar as your own before you could reserve it.

Is this possible?

This is actually a good point that I would like to re-mention.  My laptop (a Mac) has a browser called Safari which is the main browser.  I believe it has IE on there as well but whenever I use my Laptop to go online I use the Safari browser and the same thing happens with that.  When I'm on my PC and using Internet Explorer I can highlight whatever text I wish to have BB code and go from there.  So I wonder why this happens and how many other browsers are affected by the same dilemma.

Ok this is just a weird little bug/mistake/error-thingy I discovered, and it's not really a big thing, but if it could be finished, it would be sweet.

In the front page there's this nice feature in the bottom where you can see the last post, and that little number behind it to give a link directly to the page - like:

» MightyGorgon in What town do you like best? (4) 18:28

Now the problem arises, when you make a post that is the first on a new page (i.e. post number 21, 41, 61, 81, etc. in each thread). Then the link will erronously show the page number of the previous post, and when you click the number to read the new post, you will actually see not the newest post, but the post before that in the bottom of the page.

Like I said, not a big thing - but if it could be fixed, it would be better.

Yes I have noticed that aswell, something kinda similar to it as when a thread reaches 40 posts sometimes, and you are in the thread viewing page (where a lthreads are ), and then you click page 3 and then nothing appears there, page 3 doesnt exist, and all there are is page 1 and 2.

Nothing big, but kinda strange.
