It exist, most likely to keep the HoMM atmosphere around and to prevent upolouding some... porn avatars.

Then we could delete it. Just saying it would be a lot more flexible in all ways, personally I think we (and Val) can spend our time better than by uploading avatars.

I am having a problem and wanted to know if it is related to my mouse failure: every time I click on a thread, I get this floodprotect for 5 seconds. My mouse is rather old and each click may occur twice, I don't know. Anyone else?

It happens to me once in a while. Usually, when I open a lot of HC tabs in quick succession or when I rapidly hit the 'Today's Posts' button.

Since this thread is active, I want to ask; Can the E-mail notifcation be reworked to make it "post specific". I admit this may be no big deal now but when H6 is released it sure would be handy to use it and not get all responses to a "thread" even if your discussion has ended. When traffic is heavy it could come in real handy at not offending others because you forgot an exchange.

@Sal
Is it still possible to "reverse mouse buttons" to see if you are right? I see the FP once in a while.

Vokial...HOMM Atmosphere? Most people have other avatars from other things. So really, there should just be the ability to upload your own. I mean, if you see someone who uploads a porn avatar, silence or ban them. I'd rather that than having to wait for Val to arrive, if he ever will, just to upload some avatar.

I have some interesting things to suggest.

1) End of specific thread moderation.  Moderators being able to moderate in any forum.  This would allow more cohesion, better coverage, etc.

2) A report button.  As it is, we are human..and though the amount of threads and posts are not insane..we can miss things.  The report button would not be an 'automatic -qp' or such, but when a forum member clicks it, it alerts the next moderator on (if none are on) and takes the moderator to the post in question for them to have a look at and decide from there.  It would be available on every post, and give everybody the ability to help keep HC a decent place to visit and post.

3) Killing the old feedback threads and starting new ones..the current ones are just bleh.

I know, but a lot has happended in terms of server capacity and bandwith allowance in the last 10 years. As long as we talk about one avatar pr. user (i.e. if you upload a new one, the old one is deleted) it shouldn't make much difference.

I'm all for the report button also.

A report button would be useful for positive posts also, guys.  Why so negative all the time?

EDIT:
Btw, I agree with Mytical's #1 point above.  Never understood the logic behind restricting mods to a single forum.  Especially don't understand why (as I understand it?) a mod can penalize anywhere but only award in their own forum.

I agree with Mytical (1.)too. When I moderated; we each had a forum to work with, like cleaning up or "starting" and moving threads etc. but we were free to moderate any discussion. Now that I think about it, our chief role was starting high quality threads in the various subject areas. Pretty much what Elvin and Mytical do

I think forum specific moderators are in place:
1) For consistancy in moderation since different moderators seem to have different ideas about what certain parts of the COC mean. If the posters have to deal with 10 different moderators all having 10 different ideas of what should be enforced there will be confusion.

2)So posters know who to contact if there is an issue.

3) Because not all moderators are interested in all forums. If for instance the moderators all hang out in the Tavern and the VW and don't pay much attention to the rest of the forums then the other forums will be poorly moderated.

Moderators should be present in the forums they moderate rather than popping in to make a decision in a forum they never read.

I agree a report button would be nice.

Since HOMM6 will be out in a few months hopefully whatever changes are going to be made will be made by then as there is likely going to be an influx of new people.

I disagree with your logic on all 3 accounts here Mytical!
Lets start with #1

There are reasons why mods are required to mod in certain forums.
There may be forums you may not understand as well as others & therefore get wrong ideas.
Mostly the reason is because I KNOW YOU Mytical.
You would dictate this whole forum & make this place a babysitters for kids & adults if you had the chance.

#2 a Report button HA!
We had it before where people like me who had a certain amount of gold stars where they can rate a thread & i seen many threads rated horribly when they were good threads.
Many favortism & this ideas is no better.
There will be people crying & whining to tell you about some LITTLE TINY WEENIE crap that is not worth crying about. Then KNOWING YOU Mytical, you would use your belt & delete or start warning everything.
This ideas blows rat gunk too.

#3 Whats the difference?
let them do what they want WITHIN REASON?
I dont see any big deal?

That is just my humble, nice, understanding, beautiful opinion

1) Wouldn't change anything, as those most interested in a forum would still be moderating.  Communication between moderators would still be happening.

2)So posters know who to contact if there is an issue.

2) See answer 1) and they could also have extra people to contact if they didn't get an answer from the ones they normally contact.

Moderators should be present in the forums they moderate rather than popping in to make a decision in a forum they never read.

3) Again see answer 1).  Same people would be moderators, but it would actually be simpler.
