Dark Elves could still be a faction but not called a Dungeon.
We would have 4 that lives in Underground, Dwarves, Dark Elves, Dungeon, Inferno.
Dungeon should return to his Warlock roots, Wild beats, like Hydras, Minotaurs, Dragons should return to wild and scary theme.

Sylvan and Dark Elves should come together in a Fae-like faction.
That's a fine consideration, having elves as a whole, white, dark, light, high, wood or any other assortment rounded up in a single faction, with their own mythical complimentary beasts, and making around 2 or, max of 3, of very distinct units in a line up.
That would also consider something like humans having the option to 'hire' angels OR demons in their faction, because it's human nature being either good or bad. So, settings with such flexibility have interesting appeal. But that would require setting aside any of the previous lore.
These are things I'm actually considering as I'm still mulling over the rest of the project, but ever good surfacing as a reminder.

I second this. the Dark Elves could have their own creatures like nightmares, cave spiders (#GROS is Necro though) or even something like a gibbering mouther. IMO a Dark Elf faction should be a faction of crazy demented elves that go around causing chaos, and Dungeon should be a faction of power-hungry Sorccerers that tame and enslave monsters.

A crazy demented elf. Somehow Dobby came to my mind.

I prefer the H5 approach were the Haven choices were Noble Monarchy (blue creature upgs) or Tyrant Theocracy (Red creature upgs). But if it was up to me, I'd merge Humans and Dwarves in a scottish/norseman faction.
I had an idea for post DM factions (that i'm not sure if ever bothered to post) that went something like
Dark Elves + Sylvan Elves Town
Humans + Dwarves Town
Mages + Naga Town
Beastmen Town
Demon Town
Void Town
Obviously by that I dont mean towns consisting of just those races (ie: by dwarves i'm talking about dwarves along valkiries, giants, etc). They'd be spiritual sucessors to the original towns but they wouldn't be named haven, dungeon, academy, etc... anymore

Yeah, the project I'm making placed dwarves with humans, and it has some Nordish elements, nothing really heavy on viking, but mostly some other details, a mixture, per se. The real Nordish and Viking aura was set to another town, the ambiance and setting, so some themes may be spread evenly on different factions. Still balancing them to see if they feel passable, maturing while it's on hold.
But I'm all for varying styles and mingling races, if one finds a way to get them harmonic and satisfying.
The H5 was rather ok, but given I was ever a H2 and H4 player, I felt like it was too many upgrades. Still, gave players plenty of choices and some interesting conceptions behind the scenes.
And apologies to OP if conversation might have drifted from topic a bit.

I think darkelves are ok,though their execution was pretty poor.
It's like Ubi thinks that a dark elf town must be sneaky and stealthy, which means that the "evil overlord" feel gets kinda lost in the town.
But I think that they don't have to be mutual exclusive to each other.
I don't really care that much for the faceless though.
They fit into the Ashan-dungeon,but overall I am not much of a fan of them as I like it more if creatures are based on mythologies(if I'm mistaken here correct me,but I don't think there is a myth of dark maskwearing butterfly angels, the closest thing that fits their description would be the mothman, but they are a more modern myth),so I'd be ok with them taking a backseat.
