I cant simply change it because its battle animation is not very good. Instead, I hope I could get a good white deer animation.
I changed the level 2 creature as it is not essential to my conception. But in the case of the deer, I have a few concerns.
1. The theme is about deer.
2. The white deer has fused into the town background and music.
Even if I am going to remove the deer. The substitute must at least be a common Chinese-related creature and solves my second concern.
The goat looks OK but just out of the context as I feel.
I like the toad. I think I would include it as an additional creature, but not to replace the deer.

It looks too sturdy and lacks the heavenly and Chinese feel. Maybe need to be more white, tall and slim.
I like this horse, though it looks like a goat somehow. I learned this Chinese monster from a Japanese anime. Gosh! They know more Chinese things than I do. Hahaha.

For me it's a crap. Meybe because im just too used to classic h3/wog. There is not much room for such mods in my opinion.

Indeed. Very good work!
The only problem is: It has all the looks and feels of a Moose from the northern lands of my country = Canada.
Just reduce the size of the hoofs(feet) and its panache(multiple spikes type of horns). Plus, reduce the size of its mouth and nose and, voila, you get the Canadian equivalent of Deer.
Otherwise, according to the Chinese drawn picture as above shown of this very page, the beast should have merely two plain, large horns. Just like domestic cattle's type of fully grown bovine horns.
Other than that, you did a very good job at both artistic design and, its movement sprite. Lets see if you can implement the attacking sprite and the sprite that depicts the reception of an enemy's attack. You're good! Keep on working on these new creatures! You are indeed doing a marvelous job!

2018-1-9 version 1.53
Building Functions:
#No more Hulu Brother dwellings.
#Lake Pavilion is redesigned to produce the 8th creature, Silver Toad and Golden Toad. Parked at level 4.5. Due to the limit of ERA, only Golden Toad is put in the game. Growth is only affected by Castle level and Grail.(Though, resources of Silvery Toad are also in the pac.)
#Fire Dragon dwelling now requires Fort+Wall+Statue+Guild 2
#Grail is done. Visiting heroes can reset their level to 1. Golden Toad's ability ignores distance when defending a siege.
#Resource Silo produces 1 Gem now.
Graphics:
#Town screen: Vine Yard, Pavilion, Statue pics are slightly modified.
#Siege walls and towers pics are added. (No background pic yet)
#Removed some creature animations that could crash the game in Quick Combat. (Might still happen)
Creatures Abilities:
#Fixed the bug in 1.52 that prevents creature's HP Regeneration.
#Modulated some heroes abilities.
#Modulated creature stats and abilities.

@acidchalk I am still on it. Thank you for your huge interest. That is also a huge encouragement for me.
I recently found my picture editor can do conditional coloring. So I changed the hero color to golden.
And I am thinking to change the castle picture in town, so it is the same as what it looks in the adventure map.

The big problem I am facing is that I cannot draw one on my own. I can only do some cut and paste based on some existing materials.
