Just an idea...

I hope Nephretes won't mind me replying.
The line-up for Oasis has been established since a long time and probably won't change anymore. If you want to suggest something, it would be better if you were more specific.
Also, some Egyptian-inspired creatures can be found in Egyptian Bastion. It was released some time ago on VCMI.

Yes. I won't be making any new creatures for this fraction. What can change however is the distribution for some of them. We will see during the testing.

I can't remember if it has been discussed before (sorry if I come up with a previously answered topic), but the HotA team is active and just released a new update.
According to their website they're still interested in both adding new towns(including Forge) and the Alternative Creatures mechanism(though postponed to unknown dates).
So I was thinking maybe both teams should cooperate, and since you already have Forge and have done quite a progress with Oasis and Alternative Creatures(maybe with changes) you could join into one big mod.
Compared to VCMI, HotA is also more stable and the team has broken into the source code of Heroes III.

So you tell VCMI team to drop vcmi codebase? Nah
It does not work this way - VCMI project exists because of flaws in modding the game the HotA way and how incredibly much effort it takes to add features this way compared to normal programming. HotA team does not have source code - only generated semi-source code with completely random variable names, they could edit some of them via trial & error on examining resulting code. That code probably needed lots of adjustments to compile at all and quality of decompiled code flow is questionnable.
Also keep in mind that VCMI project is open source, so there is no risk in having all effort eventually lost for further development and everybody can easily add their improvements. This is a big advantage for me.
EDIT: Aw I see, you were asking Nephretes, I got misleaded by words "two teams". My point of view on the matter still stands though. Anyway, it would be nice to see these mods in both projects to let as many people as possible to enjoy them.

Well, since in their most recent version they added the Highlands terrain I thought that they want 1 town for each terrain, and I thought immediately of Oasis for the desert terrain.
As for the coding issue, they managed to add a completely new terrain so they must have a pretty good source code even if with trial-and-error. A larger team, however, would facilitate & hasten their work quite a lot.

More like it's incredible effort rather than good code. Especially when it would be limited to parts of the code which they dealt with. Sorry if I am selfish but any decompiled code will never be even half as good as modern C++ code while all that decompilers can do is produce code in C language, which is already abandoned for modern game development because of how much more is C++ suitable for large projects. Restoring whole h3 code based on trial and error would probably take like 50 years of everyday work for small team. Now when I think about it, it's more likely that HotA team is patching exe, rather than having ability to build new from scratch, and patching comes with many limitations, for example you cannot increase max capacity of numbers, such as max possible experience points without superhuman effort. From my point of view as a programmer, normal source code is the only sane way to get something ultimately moddable. Adding support for new terrain, multiple underground levels, 1000000x1000000 size maps etc, is million times easier via normal programming. Considering VCMI has already remade about 90% of original H3 from scratch you can ask yourself which way is more efficient
The thing about more manpower goes both sides - VCMI would be more complete with more developers. I see VCMI as the only project that can eventually revolutionize h3 modding, where every fanatic fanboy programmer can add support for square instead of hex battlefields for his own needs, share his changes with community, generally give possibility to completely modify many parts of the game. Adding another game modes, such as multiplayer duels, add "RPG" mode like first very old king's bounty game, adding machine learning to increase AI performance over time by making it learn on own mistakes and maybe beating good players at some point... well, all this is very theoretical and far from being implemented yet, but doable if somebody competent would work on it.

Just example of a thing that somebody may implement for own purpose with optional community sharing if unsatisfied with some part of h3 or with way VCMI handles something.

Actually they look more like M&M 6 style but I think a little more photoshop by someone more professional would do.

Thanks, but avatar is right. Portraits for Oasis are solid and I am satisfied with them already as they fit H3 style nicely. Have a look at what have been showcased so far

It is though untrue that most of them are final. Our portrait artist Darkem, mentioned that He will be improving some of them later on on.
