the community must create a list of "quality mods" to be able to make tournaments and some "common rules" for play in masses.

if we cant do this, each member will be playing his own version with his selected mods.

Well, VCMI doesn't have multiplayer yet, and it is not yet on such level of development to allow competitive play anyway. Still lately I have been very excited with the progress made to the engine. We even have some special request programmed for incoming alternative creatures mod so keep your fingers crossed.

I am busy with finishing MDT alternative creatures project, but I still find some time to mess with Oasis.

I've made new combat hero def, just to make you pissed that I am still polishing everything instead of releasing alfa version
Dervish, magic hero model evolution and a little animation:


The rest of the bunch should go easily, as now I have good model on a horse, and everything is set up.

In theory VCMI does allow 2-player multiplayer, at least it said it did on 0.99

Also, it would be nice sometime to use the 3d models for so many H3 custom creatures to make creatures also in other Heroes games (h4, H5, etc.)

I liked the old model (though it does look more like a magic class). More jewelry on horse, flowing robes, etc. Overall it was very good quality to me. Are you releasing that graph at least, seeing you are not using it anymore?

(Also, boob armor is unrealistic... not that it stops any game designers ever :V )

I might release them, will have to think about it. For sure I don't want to see another court-like thing happening (old version existing in form of VCMI port, while new one is being developed), so not all materials will be shared anyway. I will also consider preparing more ornamented version in form of mini mod, or even another mount if I feel like it. The main version has to stay close to the original though, and there is no ornamentation on horses there

hey maybe a trite question but just curious if you developed an obligatory Might and Magic lore for that town or if it's a totally standalone concept, I know that lore is a bottom of the barrel priority for building a town but if you want anyone to do flavour text and crap to contextualize it for the Heroes world I am happy to give a hand cheers lol

I am not that good with lore myself so we have one guy in team responsible for such task. We obviously have some campaign in mind, but it will take even more time since VCMI campaign editor is not even a thing being developed right now. We might perhaps try to tell the story through maps, but we will see how it turns out later.

The lore is placed in Might and Magic universe, so when the time comes we will be happy to ask you for help. Cheers

yeah I'm pinning some hopes on VCMI features as well for some (much less impressive than yours) projects, I guess it will be a long wait to get those done but for an 18 year old game we can manage haha lol

Multiplayer is somewhat working, but not good enough to be officially supported. In simple words - some parts of multiplayer have wrong design  and rewriting them would take a lot of time. You can start new multiplayer game with other people that use same VCMI build. Simple loading of multiplayer game does not work yet, though it is doable via command line: https://forum.vcmi.eu/t/question-about-loading-a-multiplayer-game-through-cmd/1071

VCMI team is open for any help - testers, programmers, documentation/wiki maintain helpers etc. VCMI is completely open and we do not hide our work. To know detailed and most recent information joining our slack is recommended.

I actually did go into the Slack about a week or two ago, but unfortunately my main computer is just way too old to handle that program so I haven't been able to return lol

although I have no meaningful skills, I will send you a HCM tomorrow about anything I could do to help VCMI (I give you all kudos, I just don't want to derail two threads of Nephretes and his brilliant work in one day haha) lol

I can see how that could be a problem. Also quite uncreative.
Well, my interest as it concerns this is exclusively in releasing H4 modding basically so as far as I am concerned that is out of the question. H3 is not the only game there is as much as many people will think so

But will PM you later for more specifics...

In any case, that hero could be used for a completely different desert-themed town, not just for an "old oasis recreation", which would be rightly regarded as a sort of fraud specially if rushedly released before the original one.

i would just give her a cloak as well; it looks like the only thing missing. unless she's a might hero, and might heroes don't get cloaks?

being from the desert, i think it makes sense to have something to prevent sand/dust/sun/scorpions from getting everywhere. i understand it's a rarity to not see desert-folk without some sort of protective robe/cloak/dishdasha/ebenezer scrooge's pajamas.

Oh, I didn't supposse you did or would.

I was only anticipating that I didn't intend for the old graphics to be used for making "clone"/variation towns in H3, but that they also could be used for other games - and that I was interested in using some for H4. But I will PM you about that when there I have more time.
