Now I realised that she looks different in that sprite than in ToW. The ToW version is fine in my opinion - I do agree with you that this greener version maybe needs more contrast. The green hair is completely fine, though. IMO the ToW version with the green skirt added looks nicest.

I'm not a graphic designer but I type hair color as the biggest problem.

So, as you can see in Discord the team tries listens to community‘s proposal. You can see the currently version of the Viking. The color sceme includes less different colors (the pink has been deleted completely for example). I‘m looking forward to the next presentation of the units.

@bg:
I can just share my point of view. I don‘t think there are many players here in this Community who just share a post and never care about the final result. I played ToW or VCMI in general many hours. But my problem with this is the stability of VCMI (although it became much better than 1 or 2 years ago) and like it has been written here already there are many mods or parts of them which doesn‘t seem to be finished. So because of the two reasons and the better grafics I play VCMI/ToW very rarely nowadays compared to HotA. And I liked the idea, I liked the visuals although some of them didn‘t fit perfectly into H3. So I agree, some models could certainly be better or more fitting. But now comming to the next point: Probably in your opinion I am somebody who writes just „good“ things about news of some mods. The thing is (and probably I‘m not alone with this) the huge lack of creativity. I admire the moders, who invent new town concepts, new models/units, new lore stuff that still fits into the existing lore. Also I am impressed by people who can give such a detailed and profound criticism. So I can say I like one concept more than another one; I can say that something is good, but anything is missing without beeing able naming it. I hope it is understandable what I mean.

And the last point is about the over-detailing. Maybe the improvements like HD-Mod lead to the possibility that more details can be shown. So you could be tempted to add to much details just because you can. So that is why working in a team (and with a community) can be usefull

We'll see when and how we'll show the new and improved lineup. The Viking is actually one of the units with the least changes. But I can confidently say that the team is finally happy with the creatures.

Somebody on DF2 theorised that Grotto's elves are not Jadamian dark elves, but world tree elves from Chronicles.

AFAIK that's not theory, that's confirmed. It's just posited for its purposes that the world tree elves were the ancestors of the Jadamean dark elves, and that Grotto could serve as a stand-in town for the Elves of Alvar.

I know it seems unlikely, but I bet the minor characters from Heroes Chronicles' Sword of Frost campaign that were mentioned or never playable could very likely be adapted for Day of Reckoning.

These characters are as follows:

Kija
Kilkik
Larn
Neez
Numas
Trongar
Vol
Zallisa
Zarm

We have Jinara being redesigned for the Palace faction, so perhaps giving one of these other characters a new design for this mod would be considered feasible, since Heroes Chronicle's Sword of Frost takes place between Armageddon's Blade and Heroes IV. Perhaps they could be repurposed as campaign heroes for this mod.

Greetings from Montenegro and great work on the new factions. Are there going to b3 any changes for the existing factions beyond alternate creatures? As Stronghold is my main, how is that skin clad barbarian gonna synergize withe res5 of the troops? What tier is he?

Development is going. There is progress in various areas, and quite literally so. The last update is already very much outdated in terms of quality. But more on that another time.


@Karadag

There won't be many changes to existing factions, beyond the alternates. If you have the balance option enabled, there may be some balance changes for skills and spells mostly, which would indirectly affect towns, but there would also be some cost changes. That is pretty much it - unless you count new heroes.
The Berserker is a more straightforward alternate to one of Stronghold's creatures; picking him results in a weaker siege force, but a less mediocre troop for the tier he is found in. Beyond that, it is also be a matter of playstyle: more aggressive, with the Berserker, versus somewhat more reserved, with the creature it replaces. But I think you can deduct what tier he is by now.

A random thought popped into my head and I don't recall anyone asking about this (but maybe I remember it wrong).
Will the classic campaigns be available to play in this or will we only have access to the new campaigns? I really hope we can, it would nice to have all the campaigns available with all the DoR improvements.

While we're hard at work on exciting things (that deserve to be shown once fully completed), we wanted in the meantime to give you a smaller update and let you know we're alive and kicking !

Today, in this small update, I'll be sharing some of the concept art I've created for Day of Reckoning, and tell you a bit about each piece.

First of them, Palace's very own Kirin :


While working on my rendition of Palace's Kirin, I looked for inspiration in that town's cousin, Rampart. More specifically, at the Unicorn. I wanted to capture some of its grace and delicate appearance and bring it to the Kirin, as each of these creatures is a symbol of purity and spirituality to the elves of its respective town. To achieve this kind of delicate, elegant vibe, I looked at fawns and deer, and decided to draw the first Kirin in a pose that showed a curious mind. Note the lighter frame and cloven hind-leg hooves, to bring it more in line with unicorns and deer. For the faceshape, I decided to draw inspiration from an entirely different animal ; the giraffe ! Having read about how Kirin (and Qilin) are words to designate both this animal, and the mythical creature, it felt like an interesting idea to explore, while still keeping the face meaningfully draconian.

Second and last for today, Conflux's new female Elementalist :


Conflux was always a town of the more fantastical, oneiric and fairytale-like aspect of high magic, with its lush and vibrant landscape, its colorful unit roster and its elegant and exotic architecture. But beyond the male Elementalist simply being a recolored Dracon, we felt like its heroes didn't quite reflect that, and so, we naturally decided to rectify the issue by bringing some of that extravagance to the hero models. Here, you can see the elementalist has been given a multi-layered robe, covered in embroidered symbols : a mix of elemental imagery (the flame, the sun), and simpler patterns. Along with that, the elementalist was given an exaggeratedly high collar and an over-the-top hairstyle, to fully achieve the "fantasy opulence" look of Conflux.
Plus, knowing Conflux to be the spiritual successor of Heroes 1-2's Sorceresses, you can expect her hair to be as colorful as her attire !

Here's a rendition of the female Elementalist by our brilliant modeler Nephretes :


As a final note, and as you might have gathered from this last concept, we are indeed planning on creating several hero models, to cover all class and gender combinations from the base game, as well as our own factions, and in select cases, such as here with Conflux, we also plan to redesign certain classes to better serve and represent their own factions' identity and fantasy.

Huh? We have no plans in removing access to RoE/AB/SoD campaigns in Day of Reckoning, I see absolutely no reason to do something like that. I have not inquired technical details with relevant team members but adding new entries in the Campaign Menu without removing other expansions from there doesn't sound like a problem.
